(Disclaimer: I don't know who owns this image, but it's certainly not me.)

NAME: Sorn Sinclair (seriously, it's the title.)

FACTION: New Jedi Order

RANK: Padawan (I'll leave this here to hedge my bets, given the unlikeliness of my being approved for Knighthood. If I am approved, I'll cut this out later.)

SPECIES: Human, Corellian.
AGE: 21

GENDER: Male

HEIGHT: 5'11" (About 180 cm for you metric types)

WEIGHT: 165 lbs (Approximately 75 kg)

EYES: Carefree hazel-green, normally light and slightly mischievous but hard around the edges, not difficult to imagine drawn together in a dark, menacing glare.

HAIR: Sorn's hair is a light brown, very soft and light. He keeps it cut neither very short nor very long, hanging to about jaw level when left unchecked, and his bangs fall to the middle of his eyeline.

SKIN: Sorn is of Corellian descent, and reflects the dark-skinned Caucasian phenotype typically seen on that world. His skin is white, racially, but tends naturally toward the dark end of that spectrum, an appearance further enhanced by exposure to the sun and a slight tan.

CREDITS: His inherital 1000 credits.

DISTINGUISHING MARKS: No, though he's always wanted a tattoo of a Twi'lek dancing girl. He refrains because the Order would probably frown on it.

FORCE SENSITIVE: As a Jedi, Sorn is indeed Force Sensitive.

STRENGTH: Sorn is quite strong. He prefers the physical aspect of the Jedi teachings, and this fits well with his idealistic outlook. As he devotes himself primarily to lightsaber combat, and uses the strength-oriented Form V, Sorn's physical prowess is notably above-average. (8/10)

DEXTERITY: Sorn matches his strength with his agility, combining both into lethally efficient lightsaber duels. Like many Corellians, his reflexes are unnaturally developed, and when combined with the Jedi ability to sense their surroundings, he becomes able to dodge most attacks. (7/10)

CONSTITUTION: Sorn is a healthy, fit young man. He trains his body regularly and is in excellent shape; as such, he is capable of great physical feats, but his endurance is not of the unnatural level sometimes demonstrated by certain non-human races or particularly resilient individuals who can take a lightsaber hit and shrug it off. (6/10, though this is an estimate. He is essentially the peak of an "average" human.)

INTELLIGENCE: Sorn is very intelligent, but not in the way that applies to higher mathematics: he is cunning, unpredictable, and uncannily perceptive, especially in a fight. He is a good strategist, but he is no genius, and therefore while he does stand above most in regards to brains, anyone recognized as truly a prodigy could outsmart him. (7.5/10)

WISDOM: When interacting with Sorn, "wisdom" is not exactly the first thing that leaps to mind. Sorn is often ruled by his emotions, and while he is canny and unexpectedly perceptive, he also has a tendency to do reckless or rash things under pressure and take risks most would see as unnecessary.
(2/10, and that's being generous.)

CHARISMA: Sorn's charisma is one of his defining traits. He is very dynamic and very sure of himself, and that attracts others to his cause. He is likeable and has a way with words, making friends easily, though sometimes not advisably. (8/10)

FORCE POWERS:

[st]Force Push[/st]

[st]Force Pull[/st]

[st]Force Grip[/st]

Telekinesis (Encompasses all of the above)

Force Heal (Limited skill with healing arts)

Force Jump

SKILLS:

Sorn is quite skilled with his words, making a very persuasive speaker; also, growing up on Corellia, he learned a variety of questionable skills, and has great skill with bypassing locks and security systems, working with computers, and a basic knowledge of mechanics.

LIGHTSABER/SWORD FORMS:

Form I, Shii-Cho (everyone learns Shii-Cho just by entering the Order)

Form V; Prefers Shien variant due to its greater finesse, but can also reliably utilize Djem So.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:

Sorn is very skilled with a blade; it is undoubtably his greatest asset. He is also quite good at persuading others, though that often depends on the other person as much as him. He has a very strong will and is difficult to manipulate; as a result of his Corellian upbringing, he is an excellent pilot, and has above-average knowledge of computers and security systems. He has great "power" in the Force, but very poor "control"; it is not difficult for Sorn to lift and throw large objects, or to create blasts of pure energy, but moving a small object in precise, complicated patterns would probably defeat him. He'd send it crashing through the ceiling. In addition, he is brash, often reckless, stubborn, single-minded, and generally closed to advice unless it agrees with his views. His judgment is questionable at best, and while he is good at recognizing a trap, it would not be out of character for him to waltz in anyway. Though consummately difficult to outfox, he sometimes falls for the simplest of tricks because he is not watching for them.

GEAR:

Jedi Robes: Sorn wears traditional brown Jedi robes, with the accompanying tunic being charcoal, a dark gray merely two shades from black. These are long and flowing but quite light, allowing for ease of movement in battle and minimal hindrance when fighting with a lightsaber.

Lightsabers: Sorn actually possesses three lightsabers. For obvious reasons, he can't use all three at once, and indeed only really uses one. Two of the lightsabers are a matched pair, identified by a simplistic design, one-handed grip (though slightly longer than most specifically one-handed saber grips) and grooves along the handle to provide a better grip, these sabers follow the somewhat uncommon but not unheard-of style that angles the emitter matrix, at a magnitude of about forty-five degrees. The focusing lens is made of common mineral on Alderaan that can be polished to give a blade of exceptional keenness, and each boosts its effectiveness with Jenreaux and Pontite crystals, which lengthen the blade slightly and further improve its ability to deflect blaster bolts. These blades are both an electric blue, and Sorn very rarely uses them, as they are a memento of his father.

His other lightsaber is one that he himself created to express his individuality. It possesses a hand-and-a-half hilt for one or two-handed use, with a burnished silver covering on the handle, and two parallel lines in bas-relief curving around the hilt. The emitter matrix is split, so that there are two rectangular protrusions, one on each side of the blade, that go beyond the emitter matrix. The focusing lens is made of ground Adegan crystal, and this grants a blade of unnatural clarity and definition; it is also slightly thinner than most blades. Sorn's preferred saber does not have either of its two focusing crystal slots yet filled, as he has yet to find any. The blade is a pure, startling viridian, silver-green. Viridian was completely unheard of in the Jedi Order prior to the Mandalorian Wars, and it was still extremely rare; Sorn's lightsaber may be unique in that right.

Blasters: Sorn has two blasters, weapons from before he became a Jedi, that he owns but rarely uses. They generally stay locked in his room at the Temple.

SHIP:

Sorn does indeed have a ship, the Solar Flare, but his ability to useit is sporadic, as Corellian authorities regularly impound it. To describe the Solar Flare is not an easy task, but in essence it is a commercial ship, about the size of a stock freighter but more streamlined; it looks rather like an elongated, pointed teardrop, albeit a teardrop armed with blaster cannons.

DROIDS:

Sorn has no personal droids, and as a whole, does not trust them.

PETS:

Sorn has no pets.

PERSONALITY:

Sorn's motives are simple: he did not join the Jedi just to do good. He is consumed with the desire to "protect the innocent," which fits with the Jedi teachings nicely, but he also devotes himself to "punishment of the evil," which is rather more controversial. It is to these ends that Sorn has devoted himself to the path of the Jedi Guardian, seeking to meet the Dark Side and all evil, everywhere, blade upon blade, encountering and defeating it directly. However, Sorn loathes the idea of being strictly bound to one set of ideas or one specialization, instead seeking balance, so he is always careful to train in every aspect of Jedi power, rather than just bladework. This also means that the rather restrictive Jedi Code sometimes chafes on him. Sorn is very vocal and dynamic, constantly getting into arguments and debates and always refusing to give in. To many, however, this makes him seem self-assured and animated, and Sorn finds it easy to make friends, and also easy to persuade others who are not as stubborn as he is to see things his way. He has little patience for the Jedi Council's deliberations, and while he understands the value of patience, it is not one of his strong points. He is a man of action, and the only waiting he is likely to enjoy is the wait between setting a trap and seeing it sprung. Oddly, however, he does not hate the Sith or the Dark Side implicitly, as he follows the Unifying Force philosophy, that the Force is inherently neutral and can only be "corrupted" in the manner by which it is used. He will certainly combat Sith when he finds them, but he is not so narrow-minded as to limit his efforts to the removal of the Sith, but to the destruction of the Dark Side everywhere, from the Sith Archon himself to mercenaries of a cruel bent even to random Coruscanti gang members. He judges and brings retribution to them all, and any who stand in his way are considered the enemy. For obvious reasons, the Jedi Council tends to take issue with this mindset.

BIOGRAPHY:

(This will probably be updated a lot, since Sorn hasn't done a whole lot yet.)

Sorn was born on Corellia, in one of the planet's few large cities. His mother was a nurse, and his father was a retired Jedi Knight turned merchant. He was known to be Force Sensitive from a young age, but his father refrained from giving him proper Jedi training, instead simply teaching him to channel his powers at will. Like all young Corellians, Sorn was taught to fly as soon as he was old enough to reach all of the buttons, and he displayed great aptitude for anything that didn't touch the ground. His life was fairly quiet from birth til the age of thirteen, when he became friends with a fifteen-year-old spacer (and smuggler) girl named Coriana. Coriana, or Cori, and Sorn were individually mischievous, but together they were like a whirlwind of good-natured destruction. Nothing could keep them out of something of they weren't supposed to get into.

Soon after meeting Cori, she convinced Sorn (with little effort, it might be said) to take her ship, the Wanton, into the atmosphere and dock with an orbiting freighter, just for fun. They had no plans for what to do there, as was both of their natures. Docking was a simple procedure that was considerably easier than either of the young rogues expected and they were able to sneak about without detection. Before long, they came to the bridge of the large cargo ship, and, acting impulsively, Cori tied up the pilot and Sorn jumped in to replace him. Together, they went joyriding through the system for nearly an hour before they were chased off of the ship by the remaining crew, laughing all the way. In this fashion, the two spent most of their time together, conducting ever-escalating pranks, even at one point, nearly two years later, raiding a commercial ship and stealing a cargo cylinder, which they discovered to hold a variety of weapons; from this Sorn selected the blaster that he keeps to this day, while Cori selected a fold-out vibroblade, both of which they modified to stun rather than to kill. However, their acquiring of the weapons marked the transition from their youthful adventures to more meaningful, and dangerous, expeditions. The first real mission that they carried out, not affiliated with any group but simply wanting to do good and also be daring, was to attack a small-time slaver ship passing through the system. Though the crew was only ten, Sorn and Cori still felt quite accomplished for incapacitating them all. The three slaves on the ship were most grateful. All seemed well, until the second ship came around the side of a nearby moon.

Suddenly, everything went from peachy-keen to dire peril. The Wanton was faster than the slaver ship, but it could only hold four passengers. Sorn wanted to stay behind so that Cori and the slaves could escape, but Cori would have none of it; knowing Sorn to be the better pilot, and therefore the better chance for the slaves to escape, she forced them Sorn into the ship, then bashed the door's locking mechanism, keeping it shut. Against his will, and better instincts, Sorn flew away, leaving Cori to be captured. It was at this point that Sorn realized that Cori had become something more than a childhood friend to him. He became filled with a burning desire to find her, no matter the cost, and as soon as he was able to kick the door open and let the slaves out, he began to make preparations to do so. However, Sorn was still sixteen, and lived with his parents. He was about to embark on a search and rescue mission that could take months. And there was just no way that he could keep that concealed from his parents, no matter how hard he tried. When they learned of it, his mother expressly forbid him from doing anything recklessly dangerous, such as deliberately entering into combat with a very large group of very well armed criminals. His father, however, supported him. He agreed to let Sorn go... on the condition that he could accompany him. And so it was arranged that Sorn and his father, Jorrell, would take his father's ship, the Solar Flare to Talus, the mostly-uninhabited world in the Corellian sector where these slavers were believed to be based.

It proved to be a correct guess: Sorn and Jorrell found the slaver station orbiting Talus, and early in the morning, a week after Cori had been captured, the Solar Flare landed in the station's hangar, and father and son set to work.

It was a frightening sight: Jorrell wielded both of his electric-blue lightsabers with incredible effectiveness, redirecting blaster bolts and cutting through platoons of slavers like a hot knife through butter. But the real spectacle was Sorn: having switched his blaster to lethal force, he quickly shot down a slaver and took his blaster as well. Advancing through the corridors of the station, no blaster bolt seemed to touch him; his dual pistols blazed with deadly flashes of light, every shot finding its mark, slavers quailing before his hard, unrelenting gaze. Eventually, Sorn located the room in which Cori had been locked, and after shooting the guard, he knocked open the door to find his childhood friend, and adolescent love, bruised but alive. Together, the two escaped through the body-crowded hallways back the way Sorn had come, arriving in the hangar only to find a disturbing sight: over two dozen raiders and slavers had surrounded Jorrell, and while he was fighting valiantly, it was clear that he could not win. Sorn leaped into battle to aid his father, but not even his frantic, rapid firing that quickly thinned the ranks was enough; when Sorn finally shot down the last slaver, his father was lying on the floor, on the verge of death. Jorrell managed one last smile, saying that he had no regrets and was glad that his death was able to aid love in the next generation, and with that, he was gone. Kneeling on the floor, with his father's body before him, pure sorrow wracked Sorn. Were it not for his foolhardy plans, his father would not have been slain. But then Cori laid her hand upon his shoulder, and he remembered why he had charged in so recklessly. He knew that his father would be happy with the service that he had done by giving his life. In that moment, not caring what happened later, Sorn pulled Cori into his arms and held her for a very long time.

They departed the virtually abandoned station battered but alive, the only cargo in what was now Sorn's ship (by the inheritance laws of Corellia) being his father's body. Upon returning home, Sorn's mother was saddened but not surprised, remarking tearfully that she always expected him to die doing something stupid, which was why she did her best to keep him from doing anything stupid, but she went on to say that it was in their blood, and she should have realized that neither Jorrell nor Sorn could be kept caged. Cori and Sorn pursued a romantic relationship after that point, and he often felt that she was his only anchor in the sea of self-doubt that plagued him after his father's death. Together, they were happy, but neither was content to sit idly. His father's death had triggered in Sorn not a desire to avoid pain himself, but to protect others from it. And the best way he could see to accomplish that goal was to eliminate any wrongdoer capable of doing another harm. Cori supported him, and together, after Sorn's seventeenth birthday, they began once again to take the Solar Flare on missions of sabotage. These, however, proved to be less catastrophic as their first mission; though they were both regularly in mortal danger, their action as a pair was so fluid that it was like they could read each others' minds. Each saved the other's life countless times, but neither was seriously injured. Sorn still used his blasters, but he also now primarily used his father's two lightsabers, which he was sufficiently attuned to the Force to wield. Such feats as blocking blasters was still beyond him, but he could fight - he could kill - without risk of injury to himself. The sabers became a sort of symbol to him of his father's will, passed on to him with the trust that he would use them for good, and to avenge Jorrell's death.

These missions continued until Sorn was twenty years old and Cori was twenty-two. His mother had died of infection the previous year, and so Sorn was preparing to launch his first mission as an independent man (Corellians usually lived with their family until they got a job, which Sorn did not have. He lived off of ill-gotten goods.) This was their most ambitious project yet: to hijack a military freighter of a faction known to support slavers and other unsavory types (Sorn's definition of "unsavory" was set not by legal standards, but by moral; to him, smugglers were fine, but anyone who caused harm to anyone else was like dirt.) Cori being a skilled mechanic, both the Wanton and the Solar Flare had undergone extensive modifications, mostly regarding improved weapons, and so the opening phase of the plan was to take the separate ships and attack the freighter from both sides; when it was still trying to react to the sudden attack, Sorn would quietly dock and begin subduing the crew, with Cori following him.

The plan worked like clockwork. The freighter never knew what hit them. Despite being a military vessel and therefore being outfitted with shields and weapons of its own, the freighter was simply too surprised to be able to mount an effective counterattack. However, when Sorn landed, he faced heavy resistance, much more than would be expected. He quickly discovered why: Jedi and Sith artifacts were being transported aboard the ship, and they would be problematic depending on whose hands they ended up in. Sorn had little interest in them as a whole, but became captivated by a specific green crystal, a different hue from the rest of the greens, indeed, it was unique among the batch; the color that came to mind was "viridian". Sorn met up with Cori, and they changed the plan. There were too many defenders to effectively subdue for the hijacking, so instead they would destroy the hyperdrives and cripple the engine, leaving the vessel to drift dead in space, its cargo destroyed, until another ship chanced upon it. Sorn and Cori made their way to the hyperdrive-engine through a series of locked doors, and Sorn set about disabling it with both a computer console and his lightsaber, while Cori sabotaged the engine system by cutting important parts of the circuitry and running an ionizer over the rest for good measure. However, Sorn inadvertently triggered a protocol that set the ship to self-destruct if captured, and there was no visible way to turn it off. Cori and Sorn ran for the hangar, Sorn pocketing the viridian crystal as they did and made it just as the explosions began. The pair ran for their ships, docked next to each other, but as they reached the loading ramp, a broken squadron of soldiers emerged behind them. Sorn turned, ready to fend off this threat, but Cori suddenly ran forward - right into the path of an incoming blaster bolt, aimed at Sorn.

Time seemed to slow to a crawl as Sorn looked on in horror, aware of what was happening but unable to do anything. Just as the bolt touched her chest, Cori turned to Sorn and mouthed the words, "I love you." and then she was dead. Time was still moving like molasses for Sorn; he knelt down to catch her body as it fell, drawing his blaster and shooting the two remaining soldiers without even looking or thinking. Sorrow had overwhelmed him when his father died, but now desolation consumed Sorn. Cori had been the only thing holding him together after his father's death and for a number of years afterwards. She was always happy, even when she was being serious; she was always positive, even when she was sad. Her laugh was musical and it rang out often. She was beautiful and roguish and in Sorn's mind perfect. And now she was gone. All this went through Sorn's mind in a split second that seemed like an eternity that had been stretched, twisted, drawn out and bent into incredible shapes just to prolong the moment. And so, while the ship burned around him, its heat glacial compared to the tears scorching his face, Sorn held Cori for a very long time... for the very last time.

Sorn finally stood, and just one thing stood clear in his mind, distinct from the tidal waves of grief: he would become a Jedi. He must become a Jedi. He would train properly in the ways of the Force, and become the consummate protector - the consummate retributor. He loaded Cori's corpse into the Solar Flare and stayed on Corellia just long enough for the funeral; then he took off for Corsucant. Upon arriving there, he joined the Jedi Order, constructing a new lightsaber with the viridian crystal he had obtained on the night of Cori's death, to symbolize remembrance of his past simultaneous with his expressing his individuality, as he would be creating a very likely unique blade and one all his own, setting aside his fathers' weapons. And from that day to this, Sorn has striven to protect those in danger, and to bring retribution to all those who mean them harm. Sorn's goal is no less than to eradicate all evil, everywhere, and there is not a soul in the galaxy who will stop him.

Nice character. A few things to point out.

- Force Push, Pull and Grip are all under the Telekinesis power. No need to list them as separate powers.

- Force Luck isn't a Force Power and I don't think creating new Force Powers is allowed on the board. I could be wrong but I don't know for sure.

- Padawans are only allowed to know one Saber form upon character creation.

- Just curious, why do the Corellians impound his vehicle often?

He can apply for Force Luck, but it seems like he should really just change it to Force valor. Also I'm sure he just means shii-cho as the basics EVERYONE learns in their youth not as the full style. Force Grip may be telekinesis, but it's a good idea to mention it because not everyone who know telekinesis knows force grip.

I don't think Force Valor is what he is trying to describe there but it might be the best thing as far as canon Force Powers go.

In regards to the Force Powers it's not necessary to mention Grip because Telekinesis applies to anything that involves manipulating an object via the Force, including peoples throats lol. That means pulling, pushing, throwing, grabbing, crushing ect. all fall under Telekinesis. Now your level of skill may depend on how strong you are are any of those said variations but if you know Telekinesis you know how to do all of those things. So yes if you know Telekinesis you know Force Grip. The strength of the power just depends on how skilled you are.

You can say you aren't very good at, let's say Force Repulse, because you never used the Force that way but I don't think it would take you very long to get the basics down if you were skilled in Telekinesis. However I don't see the harm in explaining what variations of Telekinesis you know considering there are a lot of them.

Force Luck (yes, I know it's a lame name, but it sounded way better than Force Tip The Odds in Your Favor) is basically just channeling the inherent benefits of Force Sensitivity into a conscious power; like how Bane was able to make nine sniper shots while flashbanged due to the Force, except he has a degree of control over when it activates. Thanks for the feedback in any case; I figured I should list Push/Pull etc. as different because that was how it was preferred in my previous rp areas. Also, yeah, Shii-Cho is there because everyone know Shii-Cho. It's like the first thing you learn as a proper Jedi.

And the Corellians regularly impound his ship because it was known to be used for smuggling and raiding, as per his history, both of which are generally frowned upon.

Just a thing about Force Luck, You'd need to talk to an Admin about it as it's a power that currently does not really exist. I imagine there are many powers that could effectively do much the same thing as it too.

... Like what? Individual effects could be mimicked with Force Valor, or Force Aura, maybe, but the idea is that the effects change depending on the situation, actually tipping the odds of whatever he's trying to do in his favor.

Force Luck - Makes it easy to headshot another PC for laughs.

That's what I thought of after reading it.

If he only recently joined the Jedi, I have a hard time believing that he is that adept in the Force and with a lightsaber.

Also, I'm not a big fan of characters having all impressive stats, and then wisdom being thrown out the window... it's a bit monotonous, but whatever. That's just my personal opinion. Otherwise, it was a pretty good read and it'll be interesting to see him rped.

Well, realistically, I wrote this character with Knight in mind. I left the rank as Padawan due to the unlikelihood of me making Knight straight off the bat. And in my experience, most people make ridiculous Force-users, many more than physical specialists. Huh.

In regards to Force Luck, if someone would just tell me who to contact, I gladly would do so. I almost think of it as not a "real" Force power because every Force-sensitive sentient in the galaxy has some form of it: things happen around Force Sensitives. Sorn is just aware of that and can control, to a limited degree, when the things start to happen. He cannot, however, control what actually happens. In regards to Insanity... I can't tell if you're joking or making a serious comment along the lines of it being godmoddy.

I was being serious. One slip and the power can be called a godmod ability. It honestly depends how it would play out but it's a risk that I decided to point out in a light-hearted manner.

Hey molotov, just PM Brandon Rhea about the force luck thing, I understand were your coming from with it, just maybe he shouldn't have a large amount of control on it.

You don't need the power to be lucky. If you are force sensitive, you are lucky. Probability manipulation of very improbable actions is a much different story.

This is getting to be more trouble than it's worth. I'm just going to delete it for now, and maybe develop it in-rp sometime later.

Edit: Force Luck, I mean. Not the character.
