Shitty clichéd dialogue aside, I'm glad they brought down the flips to just one, and the characters aren't bouncing around the place like inhuman ninjas. The fight choreography and framing of the shots actually felt very OT, with emphasis on stance and movements of the arms, the lighting was very OT as well.

Nearly 80% of my critiques of the show have included a compliment to the show's credit. I'll stop pointing out flaws in entertainment and culture when they stop existing. A critical fan of any piece of culture, is helping to improve that piece of culture through informed and nuanced discourse.

I'm just doing my part, I'm basically a hero. A martyr. A credit to society.

I'm basically the best.

Bac, you however, are a pedantic piece of shit.

You can't use that word. Only WE can use that word.

I'd rather burn this site to the ground than have you start using that phrase.

Vader scene.

IMO, that should've been in the episode from the get-go. It adds stakes and danger to Ezra joining the crew and training as a Jedi, and it even adds some stakes and context to Rise of the Old Masters.

So it slots in right at the start of the episode?

Yeah. It makes the Inquisitor the book ends.

It also begins to sprinkle in the hints of why Vader eventually becomes obsessed with tracking down the Rebel Alliance, because there are Jedi involved in its conception. That is undoubtedly the threat that the Emperor has foreseen. There's post-Episode IV story potential there too; Vader let the Death Star blow up, after the Rebel Alliance could've been stopped in its tracks five years earlier if Vader and his minions had done their jobs. I think you can draw a straight line between this scene and the end of Episode IV.

Hate the look of Vader, the voice and dialogue were just sort of fine.

The scene doesn't really do anything for me tbh.

I'm a bit baffled by the fact that it wasn't included in the original episode. I mean yeah, obviously, there's the cynical marketing aspect to it, but it's not like they wrote this last week. The visual of the Inquisitor's eyes has been used in Rebels marketing since at least July. Why the delay? It's not like they needed the numbers from the ABC re-airing, since it's not the regular network.

The scene doesn't improve any of the valid issues with the episode, but it does put the episode into a different perspective, and shows you right off the bat that the Emperor considers people like Ezra a threat and gives you an idea as to where the villainous aspect of this series is headed. It frames it partly as a story about the continued Jedi massacre. It also puts a bit of context into Rise of the Old Masters, where the Inquisitor briefly tried to turn Ezra before just deciding to try and murder him.

I'm interested to see where this "children of the Force" idea goes. That was the title of a Clone Wars episode where the Emperor hired Cad Bane to steal powerful Force sensitive children, in order to use them as acolytes, so I would imagine it was not a throw away line.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised, and would most certainly welcome, a red-headed character showing up and introducing herself as Mara Jade.

I would have preferred if it was just the voice, with Vader being hidden from the scene, it would have been far more effective. It also would have been far more effective had his dialogue been limited and more weighty in it's machinations and implications.

I realize I'm a little late to the party, but I just watched the first episode. It is admittedly rough in places, but I think I'm in love regardless. I know I'm in love with Sabine. She just gives me a giant fandalorian boner <3

Now I just have to find another way to watch it, since starwars.com has possibly the worst media player ever. Any suggestions, or am I headed to youtube?

WatchDisneyXD.com has it if you have the right cable provider. You can also download it from iTunes, Amazon, or Google, though of course that costs money.

All of the episodes are also available on StarWars.com until mid-December, I believe.
