Considering getting back into the game for free just for the stories so... What storylines are worthwhile? I've heard good things about the Agent, but not sure that gameplay is for me. Is Consular good? Which Sith is better? I heard Jedi Knight is good, except for the end?

Playing (hah!) Juggernaught atm. It's not terrible. Inquisitor is by far my favourite. Jedi Knight and Consular are both lackluster.

Jedi Knight and Smuggler are pretty okay so far. Bounty Hunter is cliched as ****.

The entire first part of the Bounty Hunter story bores me: I ended up deleting my BH out of disinterest for the entire first story arc and the lack of an interesting premise for the beginning of the section part. The only good moment from part one was when you confront a Jedi Master.

How are you liking the Sith Inquisitor story line so far?

I wanted to ask you how you felt about the powers a Sith lord sorcerer could achieve.

I've been trying to turn the Inquisitor into a Jedi, I made him mostly as an experiment to see if I could make him in any way close to what I'd like for a Star Wars story and it's sort of worked to an extent. I've given him a blue lightsaber (I'd give him white but they cost millions), and some grey gear that isn't robes. In character customization I made it look like he may have been handsome with striking blue eyes before an accident left him heavily scarred with implant riddling his body. So to my mind he's a fallen Jedi consumed by the dark side but attempting to resist it. So every single decision I've made in the game so far has been light side decisions.

So that's made it kind of fun.

I like doing roleplaying stuff like that in my games when applicable, like making up little backstories for characters and only playing them in certain ways. Like in Skyrim I made a sorceress who would have relied almost entirely on magic and enchanting items, and she was supposed to be from a rich family and able to get her riches up quickly, so I only got to the part of the main quest where dragons appeared in order to get bones and scales so I could sell them.

Thats why i love playing rimworld. So easy to get attached to my psychotic medic who enjoys hurting people and is missing most of his unimportant body parts. An ear. A few fingers. A toe. And an eye. Got to the point where I could replace said eye, but by then i was evacing everyone off-world.

Exactly, when the game doesn't provide what you want from it from a story/motivation perspective, just do it in your head to make it more fun.

I hate the Sith, everything about them bores me or just makes me laugh because I can't take a single bit of it seriously in the franchise, so this experiment is an attempt to alleviate that a little. And it's very rare that I encounter any other Imperial players in flashpoints or group quests and things like that, who also choose light side options in conversations, I seem to be the only one who picks it consistently and they always cry foul about it.

So yeah, Roenin is my Sith Assassin on Progenitor, Eeda is my Mercenary, Kuvo is my Smuggler and Liddia is my Jedi Guardian.

I played in early 2012, had a lvl 48 Assassin but soon got bored with that when I really got into RP and fanfiction. I prefer to write my own stories suited to my tastes, then fill in the blanks for someone else's.

I've always chosen Light Side options on my Hunter except where it's arbitrary to maintain the professionalism of the character. I really quite dislike how moronic the Light/Dark options are with several classes storylines. There's a bit on Taris with the Trooper where, if you force deserters to return to their unit ( who are being besieged by Rak'ghouls ), that's a Dark Side option, where the Light Side option is to let them run away with a walker unit and leave their friends to die.

I just don't get that seemingly binary solution. If you let people run away from danger, that's a Light Side action, but if you send them back to help their comrades, that's PURE EVIL RAWR I AM NOW DARTH VADER WHO MURDERS BABIES.

That's just one example, there's loads of bits like that in the Jedi Knight and Trooper stories. With the Hunter and Agent it's often a little more nuanced. A little. Not by much. I mean, it is Bioware afterall.

That binary solution methodology you're talking about is why I hate the establishment of Jedi vs Sith in this franchise.

By making it solely Jedi and their complexities it would have been far more interesting than just having it be handsome, purely good dudes in bright clothes VS dudes who look like vampires and are constantly angry/talking like Saturday morning cartoon villains dressed in nothing but black. It's why the Sith storylines in TOR are genuinely painful to get through.

''MMMmm yes, torture any slaves today Master Darth Evil?''

''Why yes, I thought of slitting their throats while downing orphans mawahahaha.''

It's pathetic.

With Darth Vader and the Imperial military in the OT it made sense, they were influenced by the Nazi aesthetic whose uniforms were designed that way in part because of military intimidation, but there was diversity to it. You get the feeling that Darth Vader didn't choose this, it was inflicted upon him as part of the Imperial complex. It was just a tactic and the Emperor was just shrouded in mystery and represented in a very literal way what happens when you fully embrace the dark side of the Force. Which was counterbalanced by Luke wearing black as well.

Those painful black and white choices were in both KOTOR games too, unfortanetely.

"Stay here and I'll check on you in a bit." Or "Get in my way, and I'll kill you."

"Here is some credits to get by, Mister Homeless person." Or "Get away from me before I kill you!"

"Revan is no more. I am now a servant of the light." Or "Yes! Join me and we'll kill the Jedi and rule the galaxy!"

You are either a Saint or the Devil. I hated it, I hated the Jedi Council, I hated Manaan and their stupid fish people and their stupid laws and I hated the Sith and their Dark Lord and their High School on Korriban.

There's a lot of stupid shit being brought into the franchise by writers who don't seem to really understand it but are still hired regardless.

The writers do understand it. They understand it in the sense that they're following what's been established, the parameters of the franchise. What you're looking for, I think, is people who would want to change the understanding of the franchise.
