Dromund Kaas was supposed to be a fortress world of the Empire, an impenetrable stalwart against the woes and strife of the galaxy at large. Heavily defended and swarming with many scores of the best imperial equipment and forces the empire had to offer, it was actually this strength that posed the greatest risk to stability. Given the limited intelligence that was available, there was no real understanding how the joined threat spread nor what type of vector might be used to spread their filth amongst a population.

How might one fight against a hivemind organism that could share information in an instant, a strike against one could impact the other, but it would also tip your hand and reveal much more than you had intended. There was a real risk that if one portion were attacked, the others would rise up in their defense and cause a cascading wave to wash over the unprepared galaxy. Such a grave threat posed to the Sith, and yet it was still unknown how to pick out a joined member from a crowd of regular personnel.

That was, of course, unless they seemed to pick themselves out for you.

Every day imperial agents worked diligently on worlds around the galaxy hoping to flush out enemies of the empire, find actionable intel and execute the more covert elements of Sith diplomacy as they were needed. Caelian found himself being assigned to join a mission with one such unknown agent to follow up on a lead that had recently developed. According to the report that had been prepared, a reporter for the Imperial Patriot had recently migrated to the world with his family and had been spotted a handful of times spouting pro-killik propaganda.

On its own, and even without a threat of him being joined, this was a cause for concern as in his position he could easily spread fear and confusion amongst the imperial populace. The risk that he was joined to the hivemind itself made the reporter a significant liability and one that was placed on a high priority list for elimination. The only trouble was that it appeared that the man had gone into hiding and hadn't been seen at their domicile for three days, increasing the concern that he may be involved in some kind of nefarious plot.

The mission would be potentially dangerous and masterfully timed, but if they were successful, they would be able to cripple the opening stages of a coup against the beating heart of an empire.

Sitting alone in an obnoxiously loud bar, Caelian watched across from their secondary target, careful not to overplay his hand but enough to show the slightest amount of interest. The report was only able to gather a small amount of information on his family, a wife and daughter who by all accounts stayed home most nights with one exception. Some nights, it seemed that his wife would dress up and leave their child home alone with only their droids to watch over her while she sought out sordid company and for their luck, tonight was one such night.

Caelian's goal for the night was to attempt to determine if she was somehow tied up in this joined nonsense and if so, to ensure that she wouldn't spread it further. It wasn't exactly known if she was, and therefore he had been given a little bit more freedom before being forced to make that decision.

Meanwhile, agent Bell was tasked with tracking down and eliminating this elusive reporter, wherever the hell he was. Caelian tapped the comm in his ear, speaking directly to Bell, "I have her in my sight, you're clear to proceed, but hurry, we don't know how long you'll have." Agent Bell had his own part to play in the mission. While it was unlikely that the reporter would be hiding in his own bed, there was a possibility that there could be evidence of his whereabouts hidden in an office inside the family home.

Time was ticking, and they had to act now before it was too late.

Hive minds and bugs were up pretty high on Bel's phobias. So when someone gave him a call saying they needed a job done to see if some bugs infected some people with their hive mind thingy, he wasn't all to excited. However, the Nightbrother was determined to not let his Empire down- even if that meant dealing with the Killiks and their non-chitinous followers. Still, it was frightening that they had managed to get deep enough into Imperial territory to rouse suspicion.

"I'm already on it." Bel replied to Caelian confidently. The Zabrak was already at the suspect's house using a security spike to unlock one of the upstairs windows. The mission was explicitly covert, so Bel had decided to wear normal civilian clothes instead of his Sith affiliated attire. Bel was sure that if one of the hive knew something was up, they all would know, so maybe it was better to keep the Sith mostly under their radar.

Bel had little to know information on Caelian, but from what he got, the Champion was probably better suited for his side of the job than Bel's. Wooing potentially an entire hive of Killiks did not sound fun to the Zabrak. Or maybe Caelian wasn't the type to woo his targets to stall them. Maybe he was just good at stalling. Either way, Bel had a feeling this mission would mostly without a hitch.
Mostly...

It wouldn't be long now for the window to unlock, and once inside Bel had a pretty good idea of what to look for. Basically any mentioning of We, Us, or Our would suffice. Or, this reporter could just be a really weird Killik sympathizer, but the ISB Agent was betting on the latter.

The upbeat ambiance in the room created an air of confidence for the party goers. The loud music drowned out much of the background noises and created envelopes of privacy, as pairs or trios grouped together to speak lest their thoughts be borne to the void. Caelian continued to cast glances toward the woman he had been assigned to watch, finding her eyes meet his once or twice.

It was still too early, he thought. She was attracting enough attention on her own as a decently beautiful brunette with hair below the shoulders, both men and women attempted to gain her interest. Caelian for his part sat alone, apart from the single empty glass in front of him which he sought to rectify, raising his hand to gain the interest of the bartender. "I'll take another thanks, oh and get one for the brunette too, thanks."

He drew from the freshly filled glass with a light smile on his face as he saw her receive the drink and be pointed out by the bartender as its origin. The brunette's face blushed a light pink shade before turning to shoo away her latest company and cast an inviting gaze toward the Echani. There it is, he thought to himself with a slight chuckle.

Picking up his glass, he stood and began shifting around the bar towards the target. While she couldn't see his face he quickly spoke into the comm to update his partner. "Bel, I'm making my move - I'll keep you posted." He didn't expect the agent to be gossiping while on mission, but if he found something implicating the woman as being a threat, he'd bloody expect to know pretty quickly.

Turning the comm down, he moved closer and slid beside the woman, placed his drink down on the bar to offer his hand with a smile. "Hey, name's Lian - looked like you could use a break from those creeps." The brunette woman took his hand and smiled, "Hey, you, Lian. Mine's Rheyn and yes, you wouldn't believe how many times you have to tell them I ain't interested before they take a hint. Thanks for the drink, what's the occasion?"

Caelian smiled, taking his glass back into his hand and taking a larger swig of the harsh liquid. "Can't say I envy you, well, that's not the word I'd use anyway." A cheeky smile bled across his face, "Oh, you know, I'm a glutton for punishment, apparently. I can only take so much of my wife's complaining before I need a stiff drink and some better company."

Subtly hidden, but not entirely masked, came an intrigued look from Rheyn.

Once the window unlocked, Bel quickly slid it open and entered quietly. He was in the daughter's room, which had several toys sprawled across the ground. In the corner to Bel's left was the bed she was sound asleep in. With a sigh, Bel made his way across the room, careful not to step on or trip over any of the toys before reaching the door. He quietly opened it and entered the upstairs hallway. Now for the fun part. All I need to do is go downstairs into the office and-

"Halt! This is private property! Explain yourself before I forcibly remove you from the premises."

Bel turned to face a KX security droid with an E-11 clasped in it's metal hands. Thinking quick was one thing Bel's strong suits.

"You mean...our private property." Bel tried keeping a calm face and tone, hoping the droid would get the memo. It dropped the aim of it's weapon, which was a promising sign, and seemed to no longer be on the defensive. "Ah, I see. Another Joiner." And then the droid continued on with it's patrol as if nothing had happened. Another Joiner...That's promising.

Now, it was time to rummage through the Killik sympathizer's office. After making his way downstairs, he got to work. Tearing apart the office for any trace of Killik mind control was going to be difficult in the already messy office space. Papers were sprawled across the floor, note books were carelessly left around. Like father, like daughter, I guess.

Then, Bel found something worthy of his time;

...My research is almost complete. My beautiful Rheyn has made contact with the mind! If only I could get a glimpse of what she's able to sense and feel. How far does the connection go, I wonder. If the rest of the nest is destroyed, will she regain her sense of self? Of course, little Ann does not like the way her mother has been acting recently. She's young, but not stupid. But...the mind...it...adapted! Now she acts like Rheyn used to. Or...more like a shell of who my wife used to be. But, to the naked eye, she is just a normal woman...

Bel shut the book and immediately reached for his comlink, but something hard hit him in the back of his head. It was truly an awful feeling to be conscious of yourself going unconscious, but it was something that had been drilled into every aspiring ISB Agent, so that they could try to break the fall and regain themselves. However, when Bel looked up to see the attacker, the husband had already struck him a second time. This time, knocking the Agent out cold.

If Rheyn was joined, or affiliated, then the risk for being in her proximity was dramatically higher. As capable as he was, being ready to fight someone with little to no self-preservation instincts was something new entirely for the Echani. He'd have to keep a close eye on her and hope his own skill and the force would be enough to pull through and keep him safe around her.

Alternatively, if she was an innocent party, then they'd have an opportunity for a little fun before the poor woman found out about her husband's untimely end. Although judging by the conversation so far, it wasn't entirely certain that she wouldn't welcome such news instead.

Rheyn signalled the bartender to attend their side of the bar before ordering another round of spirits. Her mood was upbeat and playful, shaking her head at Caelian's previous remarks and continuing their fun little conversation.

"Well before motherhood, I was an up-and-coming reporter for the Imperial patriot like my husband, we were very competitive and often raced each other to be the first to break some news here or there. I can tell you that nothing beats the thrill of busting your ass all night for a piece and watching the pathetic whimpering of the deadbeats that you put in their place."

Caelian held an impressed look upon his face as he listened, sipping from his drink occasionally and nodding. "Damn, that sounds like a sight to see. Shame about you being married though, here I was thinking I had a chance" he added playfully, cheekily smiling.

"Do they have to be mutually exclusive?" Rheyn replied, equally cheekily. "A few months ago I'd have thrown your drink back in your face, but recent events made me realise just how fragile everything is and how little of the galaxy that I'd have enjoyed. A change of mind, if you will, but don't expect me to just fall into your charms that easily, mister."

Her face revealed the complex emotions behind her statement, albeit attempting to remain flirtatious.

Caelian for his strength continued to play his part well, "Maybe so, but you just admitted that you found me charming, so that's at the least one point to me." His body language was played up and flirty, they were both seated, but he would move to ensure that his leg would brush lightly against hers, innocently, but a continual reinforcement of his conversation.

Soon he would be forced to decide how the night ended, but for now he waited and listened for any clues that she might offer.

It wasn't long before Bel woke up with a huge headache. For a second, he had thought he went blind because everything looked the same regardless of whether or not he blinked. Something was binding his wrists above his head but the rest of his body was free. Bel deducted that he was in some sort of closet, because it smelled like clean clothes, but the clothes seemed to have been removed just for Bel.

This is bad... The familiar weight of the Nightbrother's blaster pistol was gone, so he could only assume that his comlink had disappeared, too. With no way to warn Caelian of the new threat, that entire club could turn into hive-mind biohazard. Bel felt weak, but he knew he needed to do something if he was going to get back to Caelian. Was it even worth trying to find his blaster and comlink again? Should the Zabrak leave straight to the club to warn Caelian? Was there enough time to do that??

Millions of ideas and worst case scenarios whirled around Bel's head, which gave him an entirely different kind of headache. So, he chose to narrow his focus to what needed to be done right now. With one lifted knee squeezed into a I'm-About-To-Kick sort of pose, Bel began channeling the Force through his body to augment his strength. One moment later, and the closet door flung off it's hinge and slid across a smooth and damp tile.

Bel wasn't sure where he was, but he knew he wasn't in the building he broke into. It looked like an old prison cellar- or just a very unkempt basement. Either way, it was creepy and Bel got claustrophobic fast, even though he wasn't in the closet anymore.

Heheh...I came out... Bel tried to muse himself, but it didn't help much. His hands were still bound in...were these military grade prison cuffs?? Where does a glorified journalist find something like this lying around? The lighting in the room was lit with dim lights that flickered every now and then. There were two paths Bel could see, so he made his way to the one on his left.

It was getting harder to breathe in the narrow corridor, and the occasional drip...drop gave Bel the creeps.

Drip...

Something was up ahead.

Drop...

No...it was someone!
"Huh...hey! Where the fuck am I, huh?!?"

Drip...

But the figure didn't say anything. It simply stood still, facing what seemed to be a dead end blocked off by a pipe junction.

Drop...

"Alright, numb-nuts-" Bel grabbed the figure's shoulder to pry him around.

Drip...

But he had immediately wished he hadn't.

Drop...

Bel flinched and jumped away from the figure. It dropped to the ground like a limp test dummy. One of the pipe outlets...had been jammed straight into this guy's mouth. Something black gushed out of the victim's mouth and down it's chin. It's eyes were glazed over and it's skin was pale white. Dark veins ran across the clammy skin like an infection.

"AAARRrrrruuaaaagh..."

The creature snapped to life, but Bel was too petrified to move. He watched as the body pulled itself up like a puppet without any strings. It turned it's lifeless gaze towards the lone Zabrak and froze.

CraaAAAAaack.

The jaw snapped open, unhinged and gaping like a dehydrated dog. Bel didn't think twice about kicking it's head against the wall and once the creature was stunned, he shoved his heel into it's throat over and over and over and OVER and
OVER and OVER and OVER...

After Bel decided it was dead, he slumped against the wall next to the dead thing he had just gutter stomped. None of this made sense. Was...was this apart of the 'research' in the journal? The Zabrak slowly glanced down at the creature and froze. Where...the hell...am I...

The thing he had just killed...

What the fuck did he drug me with...

...had a crown of horns just like Bel.

What in the fucking hell...

It's facial structure...everything about it...resembled Bel.

Rheyn giggled at his remark and took another sip of her glass to finish it off, looking out across the rest of the room and back to Caelian. "Cheeky, but okay, I'll give you that one." Pausing for a second while grinning, she continued, "At least tell me a little about yourself."

The Echani looked back toward the brunette and held his breath for a second, thinking on her question and how best to proceed, considering if the time was right to lay a trap and see what would happen with the right type of bait. "Well, actually I'm on some official business for the navy, an attaché if you will. With the Killik threat, I'm supposed to review our defences and make sure that you will be safe." Looking into her eyes, he attempted to use the force to probe her mind and determine if he could sense anything that would stand out from the usual, while attempting to pass it off as flirting.

She looked back at him intrigued, licking her lips subtly and listening intently. She was definitely interested in this line of discussion, and for all his efforts, he didn't seem to be able to pick up anything from his mind probing so far. She seemed to be normal, busy, but normal as far as he could tell. Perhaps if he had more strength in the technique he would have more success, he thought to himself. Her facial cue as he discussed military matters were not entirely suspicious owing to her reporter background, but her eye movement when he mentioned Killik's definitely was.

If Caelian was wrong and Rheyn was truly innocent of her husband's crimes, then he would be executing an innocent woman and citizen of the empire. But if she was involved, and he let her escape? Thousands or perhaps millions would be at risk for the sake of this one soul, and that was simply too high of a price to risk.

Looking over his shoulder before returning his gaze to her and whispering under his breath, "I'm going to the bathroom to do a line of spice, you're welcome to join." Taking his leave, he stood up and walked away, hoping she'd follow. Crossing the floor, he looked back over his shoulder once more and notice that she had indeed chosen to and would only be ten seconds or so behind.

Using the time he had, Caelian walked into the bathroom and quickly checked that it was in fact empty and without witnesses before selecting the furthest stall for the task, waiting next to it with his non-dominant hand hiding the hilt of his lightsaber beside him as she entered the room behind him. He stood casually next to its door, using his head to point inward and beckon her in. She slipped past him with a smile on her face before turning in and seeing nothing as she expected to.

"Wait, where's the spice?" before she would even have the time to even turn, he raised his left hand and pointed it toward her head while fingering the switch on the blade. In an instant, the crimson kyber crystal snapped to life and its blade extended through the back of her head and out the front. Just as quickly, he switched it off as her now lifeless body dropped to the floor in a slump. The music would mask the ignition of the blade and give him enough time to make an escape after making a quick search of her person.

Taking her personal effects, including a holo device and keys and ID, he made for the door and out toward the exit. Once clear, he switched his comm back on, but quickly noticed that Bel's was not active. It would only be a matter of time before the woman's body was discovered and her husband finding out - Caelian would quickly make for his transport and head to where Bel should have been to offer assistance.

The mimic Bel had killed had been an illusion- hysteria and fear were driving the Agent mad in this cellar. The actual perpatrator was a bald man that had been infected with the AMS virus. Even with his hands bound, Bel was still able to take samples from the victim to come up with the big picture he had been searching for.

This guy has been using and trying to alter Killlik pheromones in an attempt to combining it with the AMS virus. He's...he's trying to control them. That's really bad. But...I figured out his plan, and now I'm gonna kill him. And what of his daughter? What would happen to her after she was left without parents? Bel felt a pang of guilt for wanting to rid her life with her parents. But, was it the right way? Yes, this guy is a maniac who purposefully sent his own wife away to become a Joiner. I wouldn't be surprised if he'd do the same to her. Now the Zabrak was angry- angry enough to break free of his bonds through the Force.

The passage Bel should've taken led to a lift that only went up. Bel took it and bristled as he awaited to punish the man who dared to perform such experiments. Honestly, it was smart to take advantage of a dying threat like the virus and use the new one of the Killiks to mask your intentions, but Bel wouldn't have used those he loved to achieve what he wanted.

"Hey! You're not supposed to be out-" Bel didn't even wait for the lift doors to open before he began choking the writer and mad scientist. When the door opened, he saw the same office where Bel had been knocked out, and the Nightbrother's possessions were on the same desk. "You twisted son of a bitch..." Bel was tired and really pissed off. Usually, using the Dark Side felt rather strange and foreign for the Agent- but right now? It didn't bother him a bit. He kept the journalist suspended in the air a little longer than necessary before completely crushing his windpipe.

Finally, I can get back to Caelian...

"Hey! His wife is a Joiner! I repeat, his wife is a Joiner!" He frantically yelled into the comlink, hoping by the Force that his colleague was okay.

Caelian attempted to contact Bel, but there was a dead silence on the comm as nothing seemed to get through. Pushing his way out of the club through scores of people, he started to feel a little guilty about the rash action that he had just undertaken. He tried to rationalise it internally while making an escape, that the risk of letting a killik threat lay dormant under the surface and exposing population centres to their poison justified the risk that he had just killed an innocent imperial citizen.

Killiks and their joiner brethren were after all enemies of the state, and he did intend to uphold his oath to defend the empire against such threats, but it was much easier to justify one's actions when you could clearly define said enemies. It was one thing to look someone in the eye across a battlefield and commit to the duel, or even just being able to use your experience and intuition to pick an assassin out of a crowd - but completely another when simply anyone, completely unexpectably could pass you by innocently and pop a blaster into your back without revealing anything about themselves.

Caelian jumped onto the speeder bike that he had parked earlier, its engine roaring back to life with the flick of a switch as he tried to reach Bel once more without success. Either one of their devices was malfunctioning or the agent was in some deep shit, with neither option being ideal nor helpful in completing their mission. Narrowly avoiding a collision, Caelian broke into traffic and raced off toward the location of the reporter's residence.

Some time passed, and he arrived on the scene and was surprised to see the front door wide open, as if someone had left in a hurry. There was no immediate sign that Bel was present, no inconspicuous vehicle nearby that he would recognise as belonging to an imperial agent, but Caelian supposed that it was probably a good thing, in consideration. Sliding off the bike, he quickly scanned the surroundings but was unable to notice anything else that would be suspicious, although as a precaution he unclipped his lightsaber and held the hilt in hand as he approached the door.

Unbeknownst to him, a hidden camera came to life and watched intently as the Echani made his stealthy entrance, its stationary position restricted the angles that it would cover, but wherever the feed was being directed would give the operator plenty of warning.

Still, Caelian pressed on and entered the house without trouble in a slow but methodical approach while slowly clearing each corner and internal door. Room by room he quietly moved in what seemed to be a normal house until he reached what appeared to be a lounge with a large holo device set up on the wall. A hidden camera hidden in the eye of a teddy bear on a nearby shelf came to life, providing yet another pinhole view of the silver haired warrior, still on edge due to the situation but not noticing anything terribly suspicious.

That however was not to last as the holo device activated and a young face appeared with a grim expression upon her face. It took a few seconds for Caelian to register what he was seeing, his face shifted uncomfortably as he recognised the girl from the mission report as belonging to the supposed daughter of the reporter and his wife.

A wicked smile etched itself across her face as she noticed that he had made said connection, the volume was loud enough that anyone in the house would hear her taunting. "Why do you continue your feeble attempts to resist us, you should be thanking our efforts to bring peace and unity to the galaxy and joining with open arms." Caelian finally noticed a pair of vials on the wooden table in front of him, looking back up, the girl smirked.

"The losses of pawns are inconsequential to the value that you would contribute to our cause, so I shall offer you but once the chance to put aside your petty and trivial lives and join us as we remake the galaxy in our image. Refuse, and you will die like all the others."

The image of the girl sat dead serious, her body moved forward as if waiting to hear their response and act accordingly. There was an abrupt feeling in his gut as he sensed the wave of danger that they were in, they had literally walked into a trap and had no idea what she had planned for if they refused.

It didn't take long before Bel ran into Caelian as he was trying to leave the dreaded building. And the chilling taunting of what seemed to be the daughter of this residence made it even easier. The Nightbrother's entire body ached, and he suspected that the father had beaten him up in case he woke up. With his adrenaline dying down, the bruises on his body began to throb along with his heart beat.

"I'm...so glad you're alright!" Bel panted, nearly falling over as he rushed to Caelian, giving him a big hug. He didn't care if it was immature, Bel was still only eighteen, and he had been mortally terrified. This whole mission sucked ass and all he wanted was to be in the comfort of his friends. After releasing Caelian, he looked back at the girl on the holo, "I am...about to...hurt you so bad...that your entire nest will writhe in the pain...the torment...that I will put you through. We will make all of your lives a living hell, so give us your best shot, bug-fuckers."

If it wasn't already obvious, Bel was bristling with anger and his eyes began to glow that dark Sith yellow again. He was absolutely done with this place and if killing this bitch meant it could be over, then that's what was going to happen. With Caelian here, Bel didn't have to worry anymore. Together, they'd take down whatever laid ahead. Together, we'll end this nightmare...

The terrifying prospect of walking straight into a trap with no idea what was about to happen, nor how they would locate and destroy this girl shaped joiner threat before it got out of hand and wrecked havok across Dromund Kaas. To say he was surprised when Bel arrived out of nowhere and closed in for a quick group hug would be an understatement.

After Bel's short speech, the holo screen closed and silence filled the room for the moment.

"We're gunna need to have a conversation about personal space after this." Caelian dryly said. In a social setting, he might have tried to break him in with a drink or two and see how things went along, but on a mission? He was a bit more strict and expected Bel to stick to the objective as he did. Before he could respond to the last thing Bel said, the Echani sensed something was amiss and in a flash his saber hilt was summoned into his right hand, its blade extending outward and into the air as he rotated to meet some hidden threat behind them.

The faces of four masked brutes appeared and seemed to arrive from the front entrance that Caelian had just used. All four raised their blasters and vibroswords, opening fire, two shots from each gun flashed toward them - four shots at each Sith and would ruin their armors if they connected. Caelian knew that Bel would probably react fast enough to be able to handle his pair, so he focused on the two approaching him directly.

Holding his lightsaber defensively, he struck the first two blaster bolts, sending them into the ground and ceiling respectively, before finding his grove and swatting the third and fourth back toward the sender. The third struck the hefty man in the chest, bleeding through his armor slightly, causing him to stumble into the couch, while the fourth was similar but less effective.

Now on the offensive, Caelian extended his arm and reached out with the force to choke the still standing assailant, the intense grip tightening around the man's throat and chest, halting his advance in place as the pressure built. The champion squeezed with all his might, attempting to kill this opponent before the fallen one would be able to get close enough to distract him.

Things were getting interesting, after all.

"Yeah...sorry...I know better." Bel grimaced after Caelian called him out. He was right to do so. This mission was coming close to an end but if the duo wanted to come out on top, they needed to fight with their heads instead of their hearts. Speaking of heads, four new figures appeared out of nowhere and almost immediately began attacking the two. Caelian had already downed one and was just about to kill another, so now it was the Nightbrother's turn to show what he was made of.

Avoiding the blaster shots was easier after he flipped over the family room table to use it as a shield. He returned fire of his own, hitting one of the thugs directly between the eyes. However, the second brute had charged Bel, ramming himself into the table which knocked the Agent off his feet. It took everything Bel had to keep a dagger from piercing his throat after the thug tackled him and knocked his blaster away.

"How's this for a 'bug-fucker'??" The taunting didn't make things better. A painful burning in shot through Bel's arms as he seemed to only be delaying the slow and steady approach of the vibro dagger. Bel was already exhausted. He wasn't sure how much more of this he could take. So, the Agent decided to make a sacrifice. When the brute thought he was about to win, Bel used the thug's momentum against him and guided the blade into his shoulder instead of his throat. It stung like hell, but it gave Bel enough time to pull his blaster into his hands with the Force and blow a hole in the attacker's head.

"Not...bad, actually." Bel panted as he pushed the limp body off him and slowly got to his feet. He wasn't sure how Caelian was doing, but he'd give him a hand if he needed it. I need a pay raise...or more vacation days. Either is fine.

In the midst of chaos, there was the force. A stable constant that one could find focus and draw strength from, something that Caelian relied upon to complete the mission. The iron grasp around his opponent only intensified as the dark tendrils of hate wrapped themselves around both his chest and throat, squeezing the very life essence out of him and prevented any real measure of resistance.

As he moved forward, the Echani practically ignored the injured warrior on the couch, who struggled to raise a blaster in defiance of the wound he had inflicted upon himself. With callous disregard and crisp focus elsewhere entertained, Caelian's wrist twisted his lightsaber across the limp man, leaving him to remain where he lay now forever. Instead, he approached the man gasping for air, who had by now dropped his weapon and was dropping to his knees for relief.

Releasing the tension around the man's vocal cords, the man would be allowed to speak, if only to answer the questions put to him. He would sense Caelian attempting to probe his mind, although he wouldn't realise the struggle it took for the Echani, it would frighten him into telling the truth in any case.

"Where is she?" Caelian boomed. "I...I don't know.." he attempted to resist initially before the mental strain began to catch up with the physical. "Speak plainly." would be his only reply. The man tried to shift but found himself stuck, there was no escape except by relenting, finally he did. "Alright, please...I got kids, I'll tell you. She's set up a base on the top floor of the Imperial patriot building, and she's gunna use it to broadcast some kinda message. I don't know much more than that, but please.."

That was all the information they needed to hear, the tormented coils of the force wrapped themselves neatly back around the man's throat as they did their duty once more. In only seconds, the man would go from flailing to oh so very still, before being discarded like the other in place.

"Let's take their vehicle and go, you drive? We may also need your skills to break in quietly."

"Uhhmm..." Bel looked from Caelian to his bleeding shoulder that he just barely tried to patch up by tearing his sleeve off. "Yeah...sure, I'll drive. And break in for us- you want a side of fries with that, too?' It seemed like today was never going to end for the Agent which...was okay. But Bel's shoulder was killing him, in an almost literal way. Without the usage of his other arm, driving and slicing was probably all he'd be good for anyway. Either way, Bel would flash Cael his cheeky smile before making his way outside to the mercenary's speeder, which was a pretty well kept Flare-S Swoop bike.

It didn't take long for Bel to fire it up- even with just one hand. But, after realizing that one of the thugs inside probably had a key, he felt stupid for hotwiring it. Regardless, it was revving up and ready to go.

"Hey, you wouldn't mind if I held onto this right? I'm pretty sure the other guy doesn't need it anymore." It didn't matter if Caelian even thought twice about who got the speeder, for Bel was gonna keep it anyway. The nice thing about Swoops is that they never failed when it came to speed. It only took a few minutes of seriously illegal speeding before the Imperial Patriot HQ came into sight on the horizon.

"I can get us in, but with my arm... I don't know if I'd be more of a liability than of any assistance." And that was something Bel really didn't want to admit. He felt that he needed to prove himself to Caelian, but he'd feel much worse if he was the cause of Caelian's death or fall to a hive mind. "I mean...I only need one hand to shoot a blaster, right? Yeah... I can do this. Probably. Hopefully..."

They never said this mission would be easy, and so far it had been plenty of killing and carnage - even on their side, as Bel had been banged up a little. Caelian knew that he had to be hard on the lad, for the galaxy could sometimes be an unforgiving place for those without experience, and he didn't want to see the Zabraki fall before his time. "Be my guest, just make sure you clean your blood off it first before showing it off to the ladies." Caelian cracked a small smile for the first time since the brawl.

As they made their way towards the HQ he thought about how recent events had shaped his new outlook on life and the impossible challenges to come. "You're doing fine, don't sweat it." He replied calmly, trying to be encouraging in light of their situation. "Follow me in, I'll clear the way to the door, then you break us through and into the stairwell. Then just cover me and make sure nobody gets behind us, while I deal with the joined bitch. Then we'll be outta here for some well deserved vacation, you got that?"

The building appeared quiet and unoccupied with all the lights out, there didn't appear to be anyone outside the main entrance but still after their last ambush, Caelian decided to remain cautious and therefore led Bel around the side of the building towards the smaller, staff entrance. The Echani took watch while Bel got to work opening the door, which for the most part looked like it was only locked with a simple civilian electronic lock. All the while, Caelian scanned around, ever mindful that they could be walking into another trap, but so far the coast had been clear. Fortunately, the door wouldn't prove too much of an obstacle for the talented agent.

Caelian moved in slowly at first, carefully checking for traps and once convinced they were safe, entered with Bel in tow. "Let's move." he said, quiet but firmly. As they approached the stairwell, they would notice the door was slightly ajar and not locked like he would have expected it to be. Carefully opening it and finding nothing, Caelian peered through the door to check if the coast was clear, entirely unprepared for what happened next. A heavy thud would be heard by Bel as one of the guards hiding in the stairwell used the butt of his gun to slam into Caelian's head, knocking him out cold where he stood.

Now Bel was alone and had to take out this armed guard before his other allies arrived by himself, or at least until Caelian could be roused back up by the Zabraki. A true test for the young man, one that he had to meet or they would both be in trouble.

"Vacation sounds nice..." Bel sighed with relief after Caelian's words of encouragement. Most of the members of the Empire were very bleak and grim which made them hard for the Zabraki to work with. It was nice to have a good change of pace. His shoulder still hurt quite a bit, but hopefully they'd just be in an out like the way Caelian had planned. But, almost as soon as Bel was finished unlocking the door, the Echani was bashed upside the head with the butt of a blaster.

It was pure instinct that aloud Bel to draw his pistol as quick as he did. The perpetrator was done almost as quickly as Caelian had gone unconscious. Would this nightmare never end?! Two more guards atop the stairwell began opening fire on Bel and Caelian, so Bel decided that it be best to regroup and plan a different route inside. A few ideas already began materializing in his head. With his good arm, the Agent grabbed Caelian around his chest and used his bad arm to support it the best he could.

"GAH!!"

A blaster bolt hit Bel in the right thigh as he made his way back to the Swoop, laying Caelian on it a little awkwardly. Please don' fall off, pleasedon'tfalloffpleasedon't... Bel revved the engine up and got the hell out of there. The Nightbrother was in no condition to fight in the shape he was in, but there could be an alternative that could get rid of the little girl before her potentially horrible broadcast came out. But for now, Bel needed to rest and make sure Caelian woke up. After stopping on the roof of a building a few blocks from the Patriot, Bel had fleshed out a new plan.

"Okay...okay...new plan- The girl is probably going to be inside for protection, most likely in the head broadcast room on the top floor. I saw we fly the speeder straight through the window and literally crash her party. Usually, I'd advise against something like this, but we're losing time and I could give zero fucks about efficiency right now." And on top of his injured shoulder, Bel's right leg gave him a bad limp and stung like an Ackalay stabbing.

Caelian came to half expecting to be dead or tied up somewhere in a basement awaiting some horrible torture but instead found himself staring at the worried red-faced Zabraki. Pulling himself up and looking around, his facial expression brightened as a proud feeling flushed through him. After some time to gather his thoughts and wear off the effects of being knocked out, Bel decided to lay out a plan of his own.

Caelian grinned, "You've done well today kid, even saving my ass, I owe ya." Listening intently as Bel made a daring suggestion for the pair to attempt in a dire effort to complete the mission with complete disregard for their own safety. "Ballsy, but I like it. They'll never see that shit coming, we'd better get a bloody medal or something for this."

Standing up and taking a look at their surroundings, he saw that Bel had managed to drive the speeder bike up the stairs in their current building up to the top floor, which now overlooked the area. Several buildings were in between them and the HQ they were supposed to break in. From this vantage point it did appear that with some luck and guts, they should be able to ride along each roof, soaring through the air and surprise the hell out of the enemy. At least that was the idea, whether it worked was a completely different story.

If something went wrong, the news could be reporting two Sith falling to their deaths, assuming some wild killik thing hadn't taken off by then. Perhaps it was better not to worry about it, they'd either be heroes or it wouldn't matter anyway. "Alright, I'll drive this time but once we're inside, jump off, find some cover and blast 'em. Got it?"

Caelian was feeling quite proud of how far Bel had come on just their short little mission from hell, if everything went well it was unlikely to be the last time they would work together he thought. Sliding over toward the bike, he climbed on and checked his gear one last time as he waited for Bel to secure himself behind the Echani. Revving the engine a few times, he released the brakes and felt the raw power of its engine propel the pair forward towards the first ledge.

With a whoosh, they soared across the first gap before crashing down onto the second building with little fuss, the second and third followed shortly after. The last gap was the furtherest and also the last, Caelian pulled down hard on the accelerator to give the bike every ounce of juice possible, the bike ripped across the roof faster than it had ever been driven before taking off into the air.

In the Imperial Patriot HQ, the nefarious little joined girl was busy slicing into a broadcasting computer while two of her henchmen kept watch. One stood near the door, the other nearer to the window overlooking the outside world. A low hum could be heard, getting closer and louder, prompting the closest guard to walk toward it and attempt to figure out what might be causing the strange noise, when suddenly he came face to face with it.

A loud crash smashed the window open as the speeder bike slammed through it, immediately crushing the first guard under its weight as the bike came to a sudden stop on top of him and putting him out cold. Jumping off toward the right after they cleared the window, Caelian found his feet and immediately drew his lightsaber defensively. Aiming to put a quick end to it all, the Echani focused his attention on the girl, who by now was reacting by attempting to draw a blaster pistol.

Unfortunately for her, lightning was quicker. The Sith Champion unleashed a torrent of scathing lightning that burst out of his extended left hand, its delectable torment wrought a savage toll upon the child's torso and within seconds all evidence of life had left her body.

The remaining guard standing near the door was better lined up against Bel (@Charles) and elected to shoot at him with a blaster rifle twice. The other two guards down below would be racing up the stairs and would be in the fight shortly, but once they were dealt with, the day would be won.

Bel was a little surprised with how well Caelian took his new plan. Before, the Agent would've thought that the Champion would've rather they stuck to a more cloak and dagger kind of tactic, but Bel guessed that maybe Caelian was just as tired as he was. With a sigh of relief, Bel gladly took the passenger seat and gripped his blaster as tight as he could. All he could really do was brace himself for the impact and hope that Bel continued to get lucky.

With a loud crash, they duo broke through, and Bel rolled to the side with his pistol drawn and ready. Caelian already took care of the girl, so now he had to drop the guard by the door. The first bolt whizzed past Bel's head, but the second clipped the bottom left of his torso. Through gritted teeth, Bel returned his own blaster fire, nailing the guard in the chest twice and then finished him off with a shot to the head.

Two more guards arrived shortly after Bel's meager victory and opened fire on both of the Sith. Ducking for cover, Bel knew he couldn't leave Caelian hanging for long. With a quick rush of courage, Bel jumped over his cover and rushed the guard with it's sights on the Nightbrother. The sudden blitz caught the thug off guard, which gave Bel just enough time to gun him down. All that was left was the final guard who was hesitating on which target to open fire on.

One by one, the surprised guards pulled their weapons on the pair of Sith and found themselves out gunned and outclassed, moments later finding their lifeless bodies falling to the floor. The mission objective had been complete, and yet the last man refused to yield. Although ultimately a pointless waste of life and talent, Caelian could respect the foolish man's resolve and decided that he would gain an honourable death for his efforts.

With an outstretched hand, Caelian completely focused to task and begun by wrapping the force around the guard's hands and feet, pulling him down to kneel on the ground with some effort, and forcing his limbs still. Without looking away from the man who had earned his own misfortune, the Echani directed Bel.

"A blaster is an ugly weapon that delivers an ugly death, Bel. This brave man deserves a more noble death, does he not? To have one's life extinguished by a lightsaber is the highest honour that we can bestow upon our enemies."

Caelian waited for the short time that it would take his companion to do the deed before releasing to the floor the now empty husk of a shell that used to contain a man's spirit. A grim smile appeared upon his face as their gruesome work was now complete and Dromund Kaas was safe yet again. They'd spend a short time gathering any evidence that was available in the building, equipment or otherwise that might be useful for the empire's fight against the killiks before turning back to Bel one last time.

"The bike's yours as promised, although you might need to buff out some of the damage." he said with a little bit of a laugh behind it.

"The winds of change are coming Bel, prepare yourself and be ready. Perhaps I'll see you around?" And with that, the day was done.
