Alenstar and Braela. The twins.
In the Outer Rim, in neutral space, there is a star system with two habitable bodies. The larger body, Alenstar, is orbited by Braela. Both have a population close to about ten billion people. It was obscured until around 320 ABY. Large-scale cities on both Alenstar and Braela have popped up, sparking a booming industry for the planets. They are still classified as minor planets, but tourism brings many people to the two bodies.
A recent expedition on Braela unearthed a ship with a Nightsister artifact dating back to the Old Republic. A notable increase in 'unlucky incidents' has drawn several curious eyes to the planet. Researchers have determined this to be none other than the Talisman of Chaos. Legend has it that this Talisman, if 'activated' by being touched by a sentient, creates a field of negative Force energy that has the power to influence the frequency of disasters.
Everything on the planet is affected; incidents of vehicular malfunctions and droid errors have risen exponentially. Thunderstorms and tornadoes have increased and eight major earthquakes have rocked Alenstar. Braela hasn't been spared either; Mt. Champor has erupted for the first time in centuries, spewing ashes over a large area of the planet. Current predictions point to not only an increase in incidents, but signs of more TYPES of incidents are being spotted. Aggression and fear are strong on the planet, creating an extremely potent Dark Side nexus. The effects are evident, however.
After updated astro-navigational charts of the system were calculated by orbital satellites, the orbit of Braela seems to be degrading; it will strike Alenstar in a matter of years, effectively destroying both planets. The Galactic Alliance has sent for a strike team to recover the talisman and destroy it. However, the Sith are torn on this issue; taking advantage of this talisman could prove to help the war effort, but at the unnecessary devastation of more planets. Rumor of Mandalorians entering this mission are mounting after a high-ranking member called for the destruction of the talisman. It is clear that this issue is becoming a top concern.

I'm hoping this goes smoothly. I've been planning something like this for a while. There should ideally be eight people in this thread, though I may move it to twelve if need be. Please note that, while this is a chance for the main factions to work together for the common good, this could very well turn into a skirmish. That being said, I would prefer the motives of the Sith and their allies to be stated in an OOC thread so people don't cry and shit themselves. I'd prefer the Sith and Alliance forces working together, not only because 22 billion make-believe lives are at stake, but the semi-peaceful interaction between the Alliance and Sith seems interesting, if not an amusing pissing contest. If this goes well, I will make a follow-up thread.
So, to sum it up, the Talisman needs to be destroyed (or be recovered if the Sith want) and the crazy elements of nature need to be avoided. We'll probably chuck the talisman into a volcano. Character death is possible, but certainly does not have to happen.
Would anyone be interested in joining this?
