Thalin's Armor

Thalin's Sector Ranger armor is simple yet efficient. Apart from a well kept armorweave duster, it is fitted with a simple Blast Vest to protect his vitals while he also wears Duraplast shin guards and vambraces. His combat boots are fitted with Jetboots when he doesn't want to stick around for too long. The left vambrace holds a Gauntlet Buckler while the right held a Whipcord Thrower. Finally, mounted Thalin's hat is a recording device he uses to play back crime scenes, fights, and the like to see if he missed anything he could use to better himself.

LEGALITY

Legal. None of the functions are inherently dangerous.

To give personal armor for my Ranger PC to reference to.

Functions

Function 1: Armorweave Duster
    • Most often in the form of a heavy cape, skirt, or underlay beneath armor, armor weave provides some protection against the penetrating effects of shrapnel from explosives and other unpowered high velocity impacts, with only a small amount of bleed through damage (bruising or very minor wounds). It offers no protection against kinetic impact or energy, vibroweapons, or similar "powered" weapons. Having more than one accessory (example: Cape + underweave) provides no additional effect.
Function 2: Whipcord Thrower
    • The whipcord launcher was a personal weapon that fired a thin fibercord whip which then wrapped around and ensnared the target to restrict mobility up to 10 meters away while remaining attached to the mount point. It was detachable with a second use of the firing button. The whipcord launcher was favored by bounty hunters, as it was easy to carry and use and it virtually always ensured a live capture, though it could be cut by a vibro blade with ease.
Function 3: Gauntlet Buckler
    • Liked by bounty hunters and mercenaries, this small deployable shield on one forearm that provides protection over the space of 40 cm diameter circle, which is enough to usually cover the distance of the arm from fist to elbow. It can protect the wearer from 1 medium damage attack or 2 light damage attacks before deactivating. Heavy damage attacks are partially reduced, and deal "bleed through" equivalent to light damage. Once used, the shield must recharge and cannot be used again for the duration of the thread. The buckler has to be manually activated and deactivated. No other gauntlet functions may be used while the shield is deployed.
Function 4: Recording Device
  • The recorder, usually located in the helmet, is a device that records visual & audio content for up to 6 hours. It has to be (explicitly) activated by the user manually to be active. It is also to be integrated into the armor's HUD (if a HUD function(s) exist) and recording from it. This recorded data can be transferred to a data storage device or terminal as well after the desired content is captured. A small thumb sized data drive holds the data and can be removed, overwritten or replaced at the whim of the user.
Function 5: Jetboots
    • Miniaturized jetpack technology, jetboots (also called "rocket boots") are essentially boots to which small jetpack thrusters have been attached. The wearer must activate/deactivate the thrusters modes via wrist-mounted controls. Like an average jetpack, jetboots permit a maximum speed of 35kph and can maintain this speed for two minutes of continuous flight (flight mode). In combat (mode), they can be used in short bursts to propel the wearer up to seven (7) meters. Jet boots are much smaller, lighter, and less vulnerable to attack and damage than jetpacks, but are also very difficult to utilize effectively, and wearers can be easily thrown off course.
