Luthair was unfazed by the deflection of his attack, if the mental attack had not been indicative enough, this salvo was more than enough to convince him that he was facing a skilled opponent. All around him he could feel the battle swinging into top gear, but he could do nothing about that right now, this was the battle the Force had chosen for him.
He felt the Force gathering around the Sith, which at once flew towards him, his danger sense, which had been tingling ever since the battle had started, suddenly spiking. Realizing what the Sith was attempting to do, he firmly planted his feet on the ground and pushed outwards with the Force, hastily creating a barrier to protect himself from the attack as best he could. Even so more than a few pieces of shrapnel pierced their way through his shield and his arms and legs were soon sporting numerous cuts as they flew past him. One particularly large piece even flew past his head, only his quick reflexes prevented it from impaling itself in his head, though it still managed to cut deeply into the left hand-side of his forehead as it passed, leaving him bleeding.
It was in that moment that the Sith's next attack landed, riding in on the back of the blast. Luthair ignited his blade and held it up, blocking the incoming attack but letting it push him backwards. At the same timed he pushed against Avlis's blade, using it as a springboard of sorts to push himself back and away from his attacker. By increasing the distance between them he brought himself some breathing room. His head was bleeding heavily now, blood flowing down the left side of his face, almost blinding one eye. But a moment to catch his breath was all he needed and he was ready for whatever he would throw at him next and brought his lightsaber up in a defensive stance.
