The Eternal Sith, otherwise known as the Eternity, is an interstellar civilization located in the Stygian Reaches. With its capitol on the planet Kito'dirva, the Eternity controls a sizeable region of space within the Reaches, its only real rival for territory and political power being the Satrapy of the Frontier Territories.

Notably, the Eternity was founded by members of the Sith species living in the Reaches. The Sith form a slim majority of the sentient population within the Eternity, although their are many other species which call the region home. Notably, the Sith of the Eternity have significant cultural differences compared to members of the species in the old Galaxy, partly due to the long separation of the two groups, and to the fact that Sith culture in the Reaches was heavily altered by the event known as the Great Unmaking, which erased large portions of the species' local historical record.

STRUCTURE

STRUCTURE

The Eternity is a star empire administered from the planet Kito'dirva, ruled by an assembly known as the Guota. The makeup of the Guota is determined by elections on the Eternity's constituent worlds, each planet choosing a single representative; this process is explicitly independent of a planet's own government, however the individual elected to the Guota is empowered to dictate decisions approved by the Guota to the government of whatever planet they came from. Service in the Guota is a lifetime appointment.

In general, the Guota allows individual worlds in the Eternity to govern their own affairs, including the running of their own planetary governments, whatever form that might take. However, as mentioned, the Guota may mandate laws to be adopted by all worlds, and is the final arbiter of disputes between member worlds. The Guota also maintains the nation's military forces.
TECHNOLOGY

TECHNOLOGY

The Eternity more or less has Stygian standard technology, although obviously with a few specializations. Notably, the Eternity has a slight edge in repulsorlift technology, bringing it more in line with the uses and availability found in the present-day old Galaxy. Also, as a matter of efficiency, many larger Eternity spacecraft incorporate solar sails into their design, a holdover from archaic shipbuilding conventions; while these sails are not usually the primary form of propulsion for Eternity ships, they are often employed at low speeds, allowing vessels to conserve fuel. This practice grants Eternity ships a perceptible edge in range, especially compared to their Satrapy counterparts; it does, unfortunately, require the inclusion of complex deployment and handling systems for the sails, which can be damaged by debris or during combat and can reduce reduce armor coverage due to their size and mounting arrangements.
HISTORY

HISTORY

The Eternity is an organization which emerged from the ashes of the Great Unmaking, which had utterly pulverized much of the earlier Sith culture which had inhabited the region. The Eternity fanned out from the planet Kito'dirva, one of the more intact Sith worlds, which managed to rebuild some semblance of organized spaceflight and a small navy before the others. From this point, the Eternity spread out to encompass a number of Sith worlds which could still be accessed by the fragmented hyperspace beacon network, forging them together into a core from which to rebuild.

The Eternity was largely successful in its efforts to rebuild, however it was not long before it ran into the ancient rivals of the Sith in the Stygian Reaches, the human-dominated Satrapy of the Frontier Territories. Since then, the two states have been rivals in astropolitics; although their militaries are more or less evenly matched, they have had only a few opportunities to fight one-another directly, keeping to roughly opposite sides of the Reaches without a common border as yet. Still, while most involved hope that cooler heads will prevail, many believe that open war between these rival powers is inevitable, aside from the proxy conflict and brush-fire wars which have characterized their rivalry in the past.
CULTURE

CULTURE

The Eternity's culture is, unlike its Satrapy counterpart, a relatively young construct. Although it is certain that the Sith of the region had a distinctive civilization prior to the Great Unmaking, it was largely destroyed during that period, and knowledge of it by the modern Sith remains fragmentary at best. In the Millennia since the Unmaking, the Sith and other sentient species of the Eternity have endeavored to create a new, unique identity.

The Eternity does not quite reject its ancient past, built as it is largely on the bones of older civilizations, but at the same time a conscious effort to embrace a newer, more vibrant culture, not rooted in traditions which bound their archaic ancestors. The many worlds which comprise the Eternity have their own cultures, customs and even species, and unlike prior Sith cultures, the Eternity has sought not to impose its own culture upon them, promoting the Eternity as a separate, binding force which unites the region.

INTENT
