(Open to all Mandalorians)

Danielle Marren had returned from her walk into the Mandalorian Wastes. The actual funeral of her sister was taking place now. Having been found without her armor, Danielle had taken it upon herself to forge Kando a new set for her funeral. This set was black, for Justice. The kind Kandosii deserved, shot in the middle of a Corellian city. Kando would have died on the battlefield like a true Mandalorian. Not shot in the head and left for dead. Word had it that the Mandalore himself would be helping to take down the man that killed Kandosii, but Danielle didn't believe it. Either way, the Commander looked down upon her sister's body as the rain started again. It was no longer just springling, but a full on downpour.

Mandalorians died. That was just a fact of life. Still, that never made it easy when a warrior's time came to pass on. Especially in such an unbecoming way. Onoveus could never make it to every funeral, but he had made it a point to come to Kandossi's. The two had never been close, but the A'lore knew of her reputation from them men and women she led into battle. Impressive was not a word that could scratch the hull.

In typical Mandalorian fashion he was wearing his combat armor and some ceremonial wear such as a cape that now doubled as a poncho in this intense downpour. Out of respect Onoveus didn't put his helmet on his head. Just turning to leave he caught sight of Dani and knew there had been something else he was to do here.

"Commander Marren," A'lore Oderyn nodded at her, "I'll have you know I had your sister posthumously promoted to General. The... promotion was going to happen anyways. Just seems right to still grant her that."

Onoveus reached down to one of the pouches on his belt and withdrew a small emblem denoting a general rank, "If you'd like to hold on to this as a memento or leave it with her here..."

He felt like he wanted to say the right thing, but there was nothing right about this. So what could be said?

The rain ran down the Togruta woman's orange face and arms, and her wet, revealing clothes clung to her form. She was wearing a few more strands of akul teeth than were typical, sporting a loose bracelet and anklet in addition to her normal necklace and headdress. Other than that, she had nothing but a vibropike that she held in her left hand. She stood back from the pair of open graves, allowing the friends and family to mourn while attempting to be as unobtrusive as possible. She knew she was an outsider here, and that she was unwelcome by many. Akira Ven was there for the sake of one person alone: Elliot Marren. The tall, orange-armoured man standing in front of her had come home to mourn his fallen sister and father, and Akira, who had been with him for the short time since he had left Shili, had been brought along.

The Togruta reached out and laid her empty hand on Elliot's shoulder in a feeble attempt at consolation. Her Basic wasn't terrific, and the language these people spoke was far beyond her understanding. But Akira knew the important details. His sister, apparently a promising warrior, had been murdered in a most cowardly fashion and robbed. Such a fate did not befit an honourable individual like that. And their father had been a suicide, overcome by the grief of losing his daughter.

Akira bowed her head in silent prayer, lifting her request to Mother Shili. Even though she had not known Kandosii, she knew the woman deserved better, and that her murderer must be forced to pay for his crime.

Heger Gymir was there for Kandosii Marren’s funeral. He had only just met her recently on a mission, but she was a great leader and had responded to Heger’s humor in a good way. He respected her, as a warrior and leader of men, and as a person. He saw it fit to forge a sword in her honor, with the words,”Darasuum aay’han.” etched into the blade.

He was still in his blacksmith clothes, face covered in soot and grime which was slowly running down because of the rain. Heger nodded towards Danielle Marren, he intended to give her the sword to do with as she saw fit.

Cuy'val Dar Delta felt it was his honor as a madalorian to attend Kandosii Marren’s funeral. He stood silently in a corner and watched as other mandalorians arrived and gave there respects. Delta personally didn't know Marren but heard from other madalorians that she was a honored and respectable commander. Finally Delta walked up to Danielle and gave his respects.

Dani was swimming in her thoughts, now she was not only one in charge of her family but also the highest ranking Mandalorian in the Marren family. This changed things, and not for the better. She now beared the weight of the Marren family. Then the first of mourners arrived, it was none other than the A'lore. She looked up respectfully after removing her helmet. "Sir, the Marrens are deeply honored by your attending our Sister's funeral." she said, accepting her sister's rank. She turned it over in her hand before pocketing it. "I'll shove it into the bastard that killed her's eye, sir." she said with a sad smile. The rain water poured down her face, and dripped off her chin. She nodded at the blacksmith, and walked over to him, thanking a lesser soldier for his condolences. "You're Heger, right? Kando spoke highly of you."

Meanwhile Elliot continued to stare at his sister's body. He didn't feel Akira's hand rest on his shoulder, he just kept staring in disbelief.

What started as a ignorable, harmless thing soon turned into something else when the first fatality spawned from it. The Mandalore had ignored the Bounty posted on him and his people due to the insignificance, but now someone had the courage and stupidity to actually pull it off, on one of his Commanders who was to be General of all. This did not set well for him, and already his scouts were tracking clue on where the culprit would be. He had already set forth a mission for him and others though, to find the source of the bounties and to punish who put them out in the first place.

He came in from behind Danielle, wearing his Mandalore armor with a dark blue cape that covered not just his back but also his shoulders. Were he not of such a high position, his helmet would be on his belt, but he could not risk his identity being known to others, not even his trusted troops here today. His presence, as well as the two honor guards of his that accompanied him, was made known soon. When his A'lore was spotted, Mandalore only gave a single nod to him before turning towards Danielle. Only the suicidal or incredibly inane would attempt anything here, though part of Roxton wanted a Bounty Hunter group to come, just so he could watch as he and his people burned them off the planet.

Placing his armored hand on Danielle's shoulder as he looked down to her, her reflection seen in his blue visor on his helmet, he said what he needed to be said.

"Nothing I can say can make this better, she was murdered by someone who knows nothing of honor. If you find this killer, do to him what you will. But I intend for your sister to be the last to suffer from this outrage."

The warrior spirit of a Mandalorian is as indomitable as the stars themselves. For all his time as a Mandalorian, Kyr'orar never forgot the proverb, or the meaning of it. A Mandalorian's strength laid not in their brawn, but in their will. And the will of a Mandalorian - a true Mandalorian - never died. It lived on, lived on through their brethern, their family.

The Mandalorian bladesman walked up the the kin of the deceased Kandosii Marren. As he approached from the side, he placed his hand firmly on Dani's shoulder.

"Draar digur, verd runi draar hettir be'chaaj." Never forget, a Mandalorian's spirit never burns away.

It was all Kyr'orar felt to say at this moment. There was no bringing the dead back, and nothing said to remove the pain. But the dead could survive on through those that live on, and remember them. That was it, that was all Kyr'orar could leave with him.

Taking his hand off the fellow Mandalorian's shoulder, Kyr'orar nodded his head, and spoke a simple, "Vode an."

"Elliot," Akira finally said, quietly. "Your sister was an honorable warrior. She died by a great injustice. The fault is not yours. Nor are you at fault for your father's grief at losing such a joy to him." The Togruta let go of his shoulder, and reached to take his hand. "You love your family, I know this. And yes, we will mourn them. But no amount of guilt or grief or love will bring them back. We mourn, then we go on, and honor their memory through our actions. That way, we know they did not live or die for nothing."

Nodding to him, Akira steeled herself and approached the graves of the deceased. She hoped the Mandalorians would not take offense at her attempt to honor them, even though she was an outsider and knew little of their ways. Her bare feet squelched in the mud as she stepped forward. From a large pouch on her belt, the Togruta withdrew a pair of elaborately carved teeth, which had been taken from an akul that Elliot had slain himself shortly after their meeting. They were meant to be part of a gift she was crafting for him, but she had more than enough teeth for what she was making. Besides, twas not unheard of for a Togruta to offer the tooth of an akul they had slain to a late relative they held in high esteem. Those teeth were a Togruta's most prized possession, and to offer one to the fallen was a great honor to their memory. So Akira placed one tooth in each casket, one for Elliot's eldest sister and one for his father. She bowed her head respectfully when she stood, offering up another silent prayer for the dead.
