I didn't mind that omission too much. I mean I can live without it. The battle with the wight in the barrow-downs, on the other hand...that would have been epic badassery. Also having the Strider introduction to Aragorn instead, as well as having him carrying the shards of Narsil like he was supposed to...

EDIT: Actually, the movies being split into two parts, right? Hopefully that means that the scenes with Galadriel are meetings with the White Council, which would be amazing.

I honestly feel like it's our generations Star Wars, despite it being based on a series of books (Star Wars was originally going to just be Flash Gordon), I feel like it carried the same weight and influence on popular culture.
