Per my OP template, thread is death enabled
It seemed that the galaxy was, perhaps, beginning to have some faith in the Jedi again. Agamar was already close to Jedi territory and when the locals began to see signs of the dead rising from their graves. After all, who else could have experience with things like that? Who else would even believe it?

Vanya and Ezra were quickly becoming a dynamic duo and had been exported by the Order to help solve the riddle of the missing - or walking? - dead.

Vanya was all bundled up in a cold weather outfit to keep away the snow-chilled air that surrounded them. It was mostly open and flat around them with mountains in the distance and rocky outcroppings springing up around the area.

Ahead was a small town, the source of the original distress call and seemingly as good a place as any to start. It was strange being out here. It seemed so... distant and cut off from the outside world. Not that one couldn't come and go, but people rarely did.

It's almost peaceful out here, she said, looking at how few people there were milling about and how no ships filled the atmosphere.

Unlike his father, Ezra despised the cold. He hated everything about it, and he made a point to avoid it at all costs. He tried to come up with excuses to avoid doing this mission, but it was either this or chaperoning another padawan event. He practically launched himself for the sign ups to go to Agamar instead.

He joined Vanya a moment later, dressed stylish as usual. He had a mug of his specialty caf in his hand, deciding that the town here was far too poor to do it right. Ezra looked around himself, grimacing a bit, “I barely have any service out here,” He stated as he looked at his EZPhone. It was a sharp contrast to Vanya’s assessment of the situation, but that was just another highlight of their personality differences.

“Why do I feel like you’re actually looking forward to this?” He asked with a faint grin. Vanya was one of the very few people outside of his squad that he could tolerate for a very long time.

Vanya glanced back at Ezra when he mentioned that he didn't have any service out here, eyes dropping to his EZphone as she realized what he was talking about.

I'm surprised you have any service. We can go back to the ship if you need to send a long ranger communication, she said, evidently missing the fact that he was probably just wanting to surf the holonet rather than do something of necessary importance.

It seemed that wasn't a necessity now, so they pressed onward as he mentioned she seemed excited.

It's... where I shine! she said, a very long pause as she obviously tried to think of an explanation that didn't make her sound like a complete lunatic. Because really, who got excited about the undead? It was one of those things you just didn't admit to out loud.

Plus it's nice to be somewhere that's a little more peaceful, she said. Of course, that wouldn't last if there really were undead, but time would tell.

As they stepped into the small town, she was surprised to receive - yes, one or two semi-skeptical looks - but also multiple friendly waves from the people who lived here. People who didn't know them at all just... waving and being friendly. It had real small town energy that Vanya was quite unfamiliar with. It was very unlike the large urban sprawls and certainly unlike the Clans.

Why is everyone being so nice? Vanya finally blurted out to Ezra after they passed the fifth person to wish them a "good morning."

Ezra only smirked when she suggested they could go back to the ship. He forgot that Vanya had no real insight into Holonet or that entire side of the galaxy. He envied her in some ways because she could exist without it and didn’t have an anchoring dependency. As the CEO of EZTech, he had no choice but to constantly be plugged in and check in on his dataphone. He sighed and finally put it away, deciding to be present.

The part Sephi was suspicious of how nice everyone was, and he found it unsettling. Ezra was not only used to large cities, but he was used to being isolated thanks to his wealth and family name. Here everyone acted like he was their next door neighbor, “I don’t like it,” He stated flatly, moving closer to walk near Vanya, “Like they’re..up to something..” He blurted out. He couldn’t grasp how anyone could be so cheery for no reason.

Ezra opened the door for Vanya to lead into the local inn. The smell of delicious food wafted through the air and someone was playing a lute somewhere. Everything about this town was out of an ancient history book.

“Since they’re so nice, maybe they’ll be open to talking about what’s been going on,” He suggested, spotting a group of patrons sitting in a corner. Ezra lightly nudged Vanya with his elbow and jutted his chin. If she looked at him, he would give her a look that strongly implied he would rather eat his shoe than try and hit it off with strangers.

Vanya wasn't so much disturbed by the friendly greetings as she just thought it was weird and beyond her comprehension. Ezra's statement that they were up to something, however, put her on edge. If he thought it was weird and he was more traveled than her then clearly it was something nefarious.

Thank you, she said as he held the door for her, and she made her way inside and cast her eyes around. It was surprisingly homey inside. Much warmer with wood carvings around a raging fire in the fire place.

This is nice, she said, enjoying the sounds of the flute that carried through the air. She should move here.

Ezra jutted his chin toward one of the groups of men and her gaze followed over. What? You want me to talk to them? she said, glancing back and making a face that made it clear she wasn't exactly ecstatic about that either.

Okay... she said. Hello. My name's Vanya. I'm a Jedi. Could I ask if any of you have had any problems with undead or people rising from the grave? she asked, in an intro that was appropriately subtle.
