Kant saw the fist coming toward his stomach just in time to allow him to step aside. As he did so he swung with his blade towards the droid's midsection aiming to cut in half. He also fired at it's throat with his blaster trying to behead it. He hoped to end this fight with the droid this time. It only had one arm and a stump, the stump was extended so he felt confidant that one of his blows would land.

"You're using the same tactics," Proelium shouted, "the droid is not dumb! It learns! Thats why they used these things against the Yuuzhan Vong! Be unpredictable!" If he had not given the droids orders to not kill Kant, he would have been splattered in a million pieces against the wall by now.

The droid stepped backwards, allowing the swing to cut wide and shots to zing harmlessly past and disaapate agianst the wall. The YVH came back around with a straight punch with its good arm to Kant's head. If it landed, which it would with Kant so overly extended from his swing, the Acolyte would be in some serious trouble.

Kant saw that his blade had missed because the droid had leaped back and immediately prepared to use force push. He waited for the droid to move forward and got his saber hand in position to strike at the droid. As soon as the droid jumped forward he force pushed him to the side, directly in front of his blade. He held him there and swung with his saber back towards it's chest. He was again trying to cut it in half. However, instead of going for the chest like last time he went for the throat and only feinted at the chest area.

The droiod's head fell from its body. The ciruits and wiring still going off causing small sparks to jump from its neck. The body fell to its knees, then collapsed.

Proelium was not impressed by the takedown of the second YVH. He had told Kant to be unpredictable, yet he had merely altered his swing from chest level to the neck. "Acolyte Kant! Your lightsaber skills are poor at best. It seems you can do nothing but flail your blade at the same spot over and over again. Leave me now. Return to this place in two days. In the meanwhile, do not rest, do not take a break, until you have studied the actual art of lightsaber combat. Use the libraries here. I expect you to be completley familiar with where, when, and how to strike with your blade when you return."

With that, Proelium swept up his cloak and walked briskly out the door to his quarters. The fear that the students showed him fed him, enriched him, hardened his resolve. My plan will work.

ooc: I fully expect you to actually read up on wookieepedia about lightsaber combat and actually RP yourself studying.

OOC: I read the entire Wookiepedia article on lightsaber combat plus all the articles, that had links in the lightsaber combat article, that were related to combat. Anything else I should read?

As Kant walked to the library he was mildly disappointed in himself for not pleasing his master. However, he was excited to be back in the library studying for something and learning useful information. For a few moments as he walked down the hall he felt like he did when he was at the university studying some intriguing subject, and learning something that would be useful to him in the future. He arrived at the library and looked around; it was very large with row upon row of tall book shelves containing volumes of information about weapons, planets, species, and combat just to name a few. He walked over to the section on lightsaber combat and selected a few books. One was on the different forms and their strengths and weaknesses, one was on defensive maneuvers, and one was on offensive lightsaber tactics.

He selected the latter as the first one he was going to read. He learned about counterstrikes, about how to strike when your opponent is overextended, and when and where to strike in most situations. He learned about the different kinds of strikes, how some were meant to disarm, some were meant to wound, and some were meant to kill. He learned about parries and strikes to follow up parries. When he had finished this book he picked up the one on defensive fighting and opened it.

The first thing he saw was an overview of the three rings of defense. The outer ring was used to stop strong although slower, blows, the middle ring was used to counter quicker blows and blaster shots, and the inner ring was used mostly to parry lunges. He learned about the correct defensive stances. He learned to watch for his opponents offensive mistakes in order to counter them. When he finished this he started on the book that described the seven forms.

Being a person who loved dueling, he was intrigued by Makash. He also thought that eventually elements of Soresu with it's defensive style would make an excellent addition to his blaster form. He learned about the others without being too terribly interested except in regard to exploiting them.

During the two days between meetings, Proelium busied himself with the basic rudimentary aspects of his plan. Securing loyalties, bribing officials, and the likes. His scheme was extremley thought out. But it would be a long time before anything was ready to happen. With the basics in place, Proelium returned to focusing on his duties as Weapons Master.

He had mastered three of the seven forms of lightsaber combat. Shii-Cho, the most basic form, Niman, the form which he favored and used his dual blades to their fullest, and Djem So. Proelium did have understanding of all the forms yes, but he had not completley mastered every single one. That was about to change. Slowly, he would master Vaapad.

Proelium ofter would practice outside, in the harsh environment of Ziost. Not this time. He did not want potential rivals to see that he was mastering, perfecting the most dangerous of all lightsaber forms. For the two days between meetings, he trained his hardest, cutting down endless training and YVH droids. The fury and hate that came naturally to him was enhanced by Vapaad's required brush with the Dark Side. To him, it was glorious. The rush of emotions, the anger, the beloved hatred! It fed him, sustained him and allowed him to become a physical incarnation of the Dark Side of the Force! For those two days all he did was train. By the end of it, he had become very familiar with Vapaad. The rush it gave him was like nothing he felt before. While he hadn't mastered it, for that would take a good deal of time, he had become fairly proficient.

Now, he waited among the wreckage, anger and hatred pouring off him so that all of the Academy could feel it. Their fear, it was his drug. It intoxicated Proelium, and drove him to perfection. "My apprentice better arrive soon, for I am not a patient man.

Kant had finished his study the night before. He had gone to bed early in order to show up rested and ready for the next day of training. He wondered what the master would teach him today. He walked out to meet the master in the morning to begin his training for the day. He noticed that his master had been busy. There were piles of destroyed droids everywhere. He sensed as soon as he was anywhere in the vicinity his master's anger. He hoped that he would not take it out on him. He walked up to Darth Proelium and bowed. "My lord, I have spent the last two days studying saber fighting and have learned alot. I hope to be start trying to use better form, better defensive technique and better offensive technique. I will try to focus on these things and improve my fighting. What would you like me to do now, my lord?"

Proelium stood still. Absolutley still. it was almost ten minutes before he spoke again and when he did it was almost a whisper. The anger was still radiating off him, but did not appear in his voice at all. "Demonstrate what you have learned."

This time there would be no surprises. Proelium stood waiting, watching his secret apprentice. Observing on his practices.

Kant spoke to Proelium "my lord, I did not learn anything about the blaster so I will just be demonstrating saber skills." Kant sprang into his opening stance, his saber out in front pointed at his imaginary opponent, and his other hand with the blaster on it underneath aimed at his imaginary opponent. He jumped forward and thrust at his imaginary opponent's chest. He sprang back into position and simulated a parry, then a hand grab, and cutting off his opponent's hands. He then swung towards the imaginary opponent's throat. He sprang back into position again and simulated deflecting blaster shots at his opponent he. Then quickly jumped forward and simulated Sai Cha as if his opponent were a bounty hunter or a droid. He next simulated deflecting a powerful blow away and thrusting at his opponent's unguarded chest. He then simulated deflecting his opponent's blade to the ground, stepping on his opponent's saber grip, and quickly bring his blade up at his opponent's chest. He then simulated dodging a thrust and cutting his opponent's arm off. He then showed how he had learned to meet an incoming high blow by swinging his sword in aimed at the person's sword arm at the wrist and cutting his opponent's hand off. after that he began to demonstrate some of his offensive moves that he had not shown yet. He advanced with quick thrusts aimed at a variety of different targets on his opponent's body. Then force leaped and came down swinging his saber back and forth in a quick 180 degree arc designed to cut his opponent into several pieces. Next, he advanced quickly simulated locking blades before quickly deactivating and reactivating his saber in order to get inside of his opponent's defenses. to top it all off he simulated a parry and followed through on his spin gaining a lot of momentum and swing towards his opponent's throat in an effort to simulate a Sai Cha blow. He then quickly sprang back into his starting position. "That is a simulation of some of the things I learned my lord."

Proelium watched and waited, the anger and hatred flowing off him slowly subsided during Kant's demonstration. The now calm Sith Lord approached Kant, in a slow calm manner. He knew the young man would be totally immersed in suspense.

"Well done my apprentice. I can see that you have learned a lot in these past two days. However, this is but the beginning of a long journey towards your destiny. Now, let me examine your blade."

John answered Proelium "Thank you my lord."
Kant deactivated his lightsaber and handed it to Proelium. It was a plain curved hilt lightsaber. "my lord, I chose the curved hilt lightsaber because it is easier to control, harder for your opponent to tell where it is going, and because you can strike harder with it. Most opponents don't know how to react to it. It is also extremely easy to move around when locked in saber to saber combat which gives me an edge in flexibility over my opponent. My wrist blaster is just a standard wrist blaster but you may see it also if you like."

Proelium looked over the blade examening it. He felt it in his hand, ignited it and went through some basic forms of Makashi. It was a little off balance, the end being heavier than the front. A novice like Kant wouldn't realise the subtle weight change. Yet, the Sith Lord could feel it immidiently. He handed the blade back to Kant, neutral expression on his face.

"This blade is unfit for combat. You must make a new one. Together we will do just that. But, before we do that, for your crystal do you want natural," Proelium ignited his blue bladed lightsaber, "or synthetic?" Prolium then ignited his crimson blade. "Keep in mind, synthetic crystals do not last as long as natural ones."

Kant was thrilled at the prospect of creating a new and more powerful blade with his new master. "My lord, I will do whatever you think is best, but my preference is a natural crystal. Beyond that I must confess that I do not know very much about crystals; plus, it will depend upon what crystals I may choose from. However, if you would like me to use a synthetic one I will do what you think is best. My lord, what crystals may I choose from? I am fond of some natural crystals but I also like compressed synthetic ones. So, depending on what I may choose from I might wish to go with either. However, if you would rather I can just go with natural. I am looking for a light, flexible, and hard hitting lightsaber, is there anything else you would suggest I add to the list of things I look for in a crystal?"

Proelium smiled beneath his hood. This is exactly what he had hoped for. Kant was eager to learn and embrace his destiny. "There will be no need to study books for your crystals my apprentice. We will be going to find some personally. Meet me at the hange tomorrow at dawn. We need an early start to shape your future."

With that, Proelium exited the room, cloak still covering his features. Lesser students who had been around during his release of power were only coming awake now. They had been knocked out cold be the sheer power of Proelium's anger. One tried to reach out for him, gasping "Help me...". Proelium ended the young woman's life with a quick slash from his crimson blade. "The weak should not survive."

The Sith Lord retreated to his personal quarters, until the time came to meat Kant.

Kant was extremely excited to be leaving to search for a lightsaber crystal. He was not sure what they would be looking for, he also wondered whether or not it would require fighting and killing some sort of monster. Even though he was slightly scared, he was overjoyed at this prospect. He was so happy that he did not even notice when his master killed another weaker acolyte. He bowed to the master as he walked away. As soon as his master walked away he walked out of the temple and toward his room. He made what little preparations were necessary for his journey. He packed his blaster and his other weapons, he also packed his locator. He figured this was all that he would need. He went to a nearby hotel restaurant for dinner. Then he went to bed. He would be making an early start tomorrow, and he would need his rest.
