The droids were quickly dispatched by the two Sith.

I agree,” Thel replied to her suggestion that they move quickly. “I didn’t find anything.

He led the way as the two Sith moved swiftly through the corridors of the facility. Fortunately, they evaded the other droids searching for them. Eventually, they found themselves entering a very large room. It seemed like it might have been used for storage, at one time, but there wasn’t anything there. On the wall, on the opposite side of the room, was the door to a freight elevator. The strong dark presence that Thel could sense seemed to emanate from deeper in the facility. “We’ll take the elevator down.

As they walked across the room, he stopped suddenly. “Wait Ambrosia.” He guessed she could probably sense it too. Something moving towards them. He looked up at the panel above the elevator, and it indicated that it was moving up towards them. “There is something coming. It’s not a droid.” Whatever it was, it was steeped in the dark side. The elevator stopped with a loud thud. He stood with his lightsaber ready, as the elevator door slowly opened.

Something stepped out from the shadowy elevator. It was difficult to know what it was. Some sort of monstrosity. It was imbued with the dark side. It was twisted, deformed and hideous. What looked like an eye seemed to have grown out of its right shoulder, and it looked like it had two heads. The creature stopped, seemingly to look over the two Sith, and then let out a loud wailing sound. It charged at the Sith.

Thel stopped, and then did she. Whatever it was that he'd felt, she felt it too as soon as she reached out in the Force for it. Not a particularly huge fan of surprises, Ambrosia began to channel the Force in and around her. When the elevator opened and the hideous creature stepped out, she clenched her fist together to form a long icicle and sent it careening toward the creature. It speared it through its right shoulder, causing it to cry out in pain before continuing to charge on.

"I'll distract it. Go in and try to make this quick," she said quickly, her voice low and quiet but just loud enough for Thel to here. True to her words, the Arkanian offshoot dashed forward, then strafed to its left away from the injury. The monstrosity swung its arms at her, trying to grab or maybe even punch her, but missed by a few inches as she quickly dodged backward.

The creature was now half-facing Ambrosia, standing almost perpendicularly to Thel.

The creature’s pained cry echoed around the room. Thel stood back and watched as Ambrosia advanced and drew the hideous being’s attention. She made it clear that she wanted him to finish the monster off.

He quickly ran towards the creature, his lightsaber in his right hand, ready to strike. The monstrosity turned slightly just as he reached it, but it wasn’t able to react in time. His first strike, a diagonal swipe up from his left hip, sliced off the small head growing out from near its left shoulder, causing it to stagger back. He shifted his balance and tilted his blade slightly to the right, before aiming a horizontal strike at the creature’s neck. Its head was cleaved from its body. The headless body was motionless for a few seconds, as the head rolled away from it. Then, slowly, it fell backwards.

He was pleased with how efficiently he had dealt with it. “An unusual thing isn’t it,” he remarked, looking down at the creature’s body. He looked up at elevator. “This presence we’ve both sensed, it seems to emanate from deeper down. The lower levels of this facility may hold the answer.” He gestured towards the elevator. “After you.” He hadn’t forgotten his reason for coming to the planet. He still had hope of finding the stash of credits, but he had become more curious about locating the source of the dark presence that surrounded the facility.

Just like that, the creature was dealt with. The two of them made a decent team, Ambrosia thought. She liked that he was able to so easily follow up on the opportunities she provided for him.

Thel gestured to the elevator, and she entered. She held her arm in the door to keep it open for him, then pressed the button to allow the lift to descend. They went down, and down, and down for a bit longer than the Arkanaian offshoot would have expected. 'How deep does this elevator go?' she wondered. Nevertheless, it was not too long before the vehicle came to a slow halt and the doors slide back open.

In front of them was a hallway that stretched forward before ending, liking curving off into a path or two. The architecture here was much different than before - appearing almost imperial-esque in its sharp geometric shapes and matte greys. "Did you know this would be here?" she asked quietly, stepping out of the elevator and into the hall. She held her hammer loosely in her hand, prepared for any unexpected enemies. So far, however, it appeared they were alone.

Thel followed Ambrosia into the elevator. It descended fairly quickly, moving deeper below the surface. When it stopped, the door opened, revealing a long hallway. Thel stepped out of the elevator, next to the Arkanian. “No, I didn’t know anything about the inside of the facility.” The design of the corridor was more like typical imperial design. The presence was even stronger now. He felt as if it was drawing him in. The same malevolent voice spoke to him.

You cannot trust the other. Kill her.

He did his best to ignore the voice. The sensible thing to do would be to turn back, but he felt compelled to continue.

The left turn at the end of the corridor. That’s the way, I can feel it.

There was tension rising in the air, spurred on by the ever-seductive whisper of the Dark Side. Take what is yours; take it for yourself. Never trust. Falter. Fall into the Darkness. Yet, the two of them pressed on, managing to ignore the darker manipulations of the Force in pursuit of their goal. Whatever that goal was.

They turned left at the end of the corridor, as Thel spoke, and were met with a door. It was locked, but it wasn't anything a lightsaber and a good ten minutes couldn't fix. Ambrosia stood to watch in the meantime, humming quietly on a singular pitch, violet eyes spaced out.

When the door was finally opened, the two of them would be hit with a wall of the Dark Side. Seated upon a pedestal in the middle of that room was a small, grey shard.

Trusting his senses, Thel led Ambrosia to a large door. The dark presence surrounded them. It was almost overpowering. Ignoring the sense of foreboding he felt, he plunged his saber into the door and began the process of cutting it open. Eventually the door was sliced open, allowing the two Sith to enter the room.

Sat on a pedestal in the middle of the room was a small object. It appeared to be a broken piece of a larger object. Stepping towards it, Thel’s eyes remained fixed on the object. The darkness radiating from the object was overwhelming. As he stepped close enough to reach out and grab it, the metal plates around the object suddenly folded out and formed a small box around it. The top slid closed and a small handle popped out. Tentatively stretching out his arm, he grabbed the handle.

DARKNESS

Images flashed through Thel’s mind. Memories. Someone else’s memories. A fair-haired man writhing in pain, as lightning flooded over him. A masked figure stood watching. Without warning he felt a strong grip around him. Like he was being picked up and carried. An endless drop awaited him.

Falling. Falling into the abyss.

He snapped back into reality. His hand still on the handle. Composing himself, he lifted the box off the pedestal and turned to Ambrosia. He now had a suspicion as to what the object was.

This object is beyond our power. I would suggest we hand it over to Tempest. That is unless, you think otherwise.” Thel was wary of his fellow Sith perhaps trying to claim the object for herself. Fortunately, she didn’t try anything.

The journey back to the surface, and then to their ships, was uneventful. He wanted to study the object to confirm his suspicions about what it was. As soon as he had, he would immediately hand it over to Tempest.
