Theft on Tython: A rather valuable holocron has been stolen from the Temple on Tython. Evidence suggest that the suspect is force-sensitive, most likely a Jedi of the Order. However, darker forces could be at work here.

The contents of the holocron are to remain secret. You, and your team, are to track down, locate and return the holocron to the Archives. This is your primary objective. Your secondary objective is to return the thief back to the Temple for questioning. Reasonable force is allowed, but lethal force is strictly forbidden unless a life is in danger.

Had he been capable of moving at speeds beyond a fast shuffle, EG-PO could have aptly been compared to a ping-pong ball. As it was, the best imitation that he could give was of a tree slug painfully trying to dart away from a predator. The predator in question was a trio of padawans and EG-PO was trying desperately to head off their arrival.

It wasn't that EG-PO was afraid of the padawans, far from it. What terrified him was what the arrival of those padawans would mean: the moment that they arrived his negligence would become a certainty. For the first time in recorded history, tragedy had struck. An extremely rare and extremely valuable holocron had gone missing.

Ever since the moment of that fateful discovery, EG-PO had taken to checking and rechecking and triple checking the shelves and storage containers. Had he the ability, he would have hoped against hope that the holocron had simply been misfiled. But the more he searched the more an alarming feeling buzzed through his protocol droid circuits. The holocron was more than just missing... it was stolen.

That could only mean one thing: one of the Jedi had gone rogue and become a thief. The very thought threatened to paralyze his motor servos. Was anything truly safe so long as a Jedi thief roamed the galaxy?

The chiming of a chrono announced that EG-PO was out of time. With the digital equivalent of a sigh, EG-PO left the storeroom and exited into the connecting hallway. He was out of time. The predators were scheduled to descend.

Cal walked up to the archives, rubbing his eyes, jedi training was tough but it didn't stop him from doing jobs around the temple. This particular one was special, for the first time in a long time, if ever, a holocron was stolen, an important one at that, well at least important enough as to where Cal could not see its contents. Elov stood on Cal's shoulder, looking viligently as Cal went over the details he had been told. The suspect is thought to be a force sensitve, perhaps even a jedi him/herself, though it's believe he/she has been influenced by darker forces, which disturbed Cal deeply, dark forces on Tython was not good news. He reached the entrance of the archives, he entered casually, casting many eyes upon him, because of Elov, who simply nodded. Cal had been told to meet up with a droid who would help out Cal in solving the case, but Cal did not see him so he walked up to one of the libarians and asked if they had seen him. The libarian answered and pointed to a hovering droid, Cal thanked the libarian and walked to the droid. Once he reached the droid Cal nodded "Hello, I will introduce myself once the others arive" he said, in a neutral voice.

"You there!" A voice called out from up the hall in a brutish, though not unkind tone. A massive, jet black Shistavanen clad entirely in freshly polished, heavy chainmail. It was Tsume, and he wasn't alone. Other padawans accompinied him, making his size stand out, along with his beastly features. Tsume walked with a sense if purpose and pride about him, eager to be on with the mission.

Being the most experianced of the padawans, Tsume had, naturally, nominated himself as leader, even though it wasn't official. He was sure the other padawans wouldn't mind, but if they did, he was always open to suggestions. Besides, he was nearly a knight, and he had never led anything before. This would just be another trial.

He reached the droid rather quickly, along with Cal, who seemed to have beaten him and the other padawan.s there, his crimson gaze intent as they scanned the droid studiously, hungry for information. "Brief me." Tsume growled an order, expecting the droid to follow it. Why wouldn't it? The other padawans, however, Tsume wouldn't directly order unless necesarry. He would mostly suggest. After all, despite his experiance, he was still just a padawan.

Tony followed Tsume in there, and it was a strange place after all. The place was just so big Tony thought he might get lost if he didn't follow someone else. He look at Tsume and saw the enormous wolf-thing, then atCal to see a normal human and thought to himself, "What ugly creatures I'm surrounded by." Tony asked the rest of the group, "How is it possible someone could steal a holocron that sacred, I mean it must be guarded well right?"

*Zayne had been practicing his Battle meditation when he heard that a Holocron had been stolen so he sat there for a minute and then jumped up and said: "WAIT, WHAT?!" *He then walked with his lightsaber at his side as fast as he could to the Archive room where he saw 2 other padawans already gathered around the droid. So Zayne walked to them and said: "Hi there guys. I am Zayne Nion. I am here to help, So does any one know what happened?"

EG-PO huffed as his frustration turned to indignation. Perhaps there had been a security breach and perhaps someone had stolen a holocron, but that was no reason for the Jedi to be so rude. Why, he had been in service for many, many decades. Was all of that service supposed to be invalidated because of one minor slip?

"If you will allow me to answer your questions in turn, I am EG-PO." The droid replied in a carefully neutral voice. Getting fussy never seemed to help matters, it seemed. "I am a protocol droid tasked with archiving, maintaining and cleaning these holocron archives."

He turned to the Shistavanen and continued his answers: "I can personally verify that all of the holocrons were accounted for and in place when I made my rounds the previous evening, including the one which has... er... gone missing. It was quite the quiet night, last night, as I believe only one person requested access to the archives.

"Everything appeared to be in order afterward, although I must confess I did not take a complete inventory of the holocrons. But upon making a routine cleaning this morning, I was shocked-- no, horrified-- to discover that one of our most valuable additions to the library had gone missing... and that... brings us to where we are now.

"As to just how this crime was perpetuated, I... must confess to being at a loss. I have no idea where the holocron has gone or whether someone could have taken it. I do hope that you can recover it, or at the least explain exactly what happened. This... erm... is quite the embarrassing situation for me. I beg you to help me rectify it."

EG-PO shifted nervously in place. His unblinking eyes shifted from padawan to padawan. Had he flexible emotions, he very well might have frowned.

"Is there... er... anything else that you wish to know?" EG-PO asked. "My systems are linked to the master archives, giving me quite the broad range of knowledge. Or would you rather investigate the archives directly? I assure you that you'll have my aid regardless."

Cal looked at the droid "What's so important about this Holocron? What does it contain that it is worthy of stealing?" he looked at the rest of the padawans, giving them a lil glare and a motion with the hand, telling them to calm themselves. "Also how would one get in here without being noticed? Any fingerprints around the area of the Holocron? Perhaps the thief was careless and moved something, all this needs to be checked." he said clearly, then turned to his fellow padawans "Anything I miss?" he asked in a friendly tone

"Yes." Tsume answered calmly, raking his firm gaze over Cal. He slowly turned his head back toward the droid. "Is there a scent? Any thing that might have been left behind? And could you tell us exactly who came in here last night?" He asked. Tsume agreed with Cal, sure, but why waste time with fingerprints when he could track the thief by scent? If only there was one. He was sure the droid couldn't smell, but he might be willing to escort the group to where he saw the holocron last.

Tony was a little confused at how the Holocron was stolen still. The droid should've noticed it by the time it was gone. "Is there any video footage of the area where the holocron was stolen at?" Tony said confused.

*Zayne looked confused and then came up with something* "Wait don't droids have Cameras or Memory Cores? What if we checked his to find the Thief? Or we could cehck the Cameras." *Though Zayne had a Bad feeling about this droid he kept his cool and calm and waited to see if everyone else would like to check it.

((Please remember that there's a separation between IC and OoC. I'm not bothered by this round, but I'm also trying to keep Egg in character.))

EG-PO all but threw up his hands in consternation. These padawans were worse than predators, they were akin to piranhas. Just as piranhas went into a frenzy at the slightest taste of blood, so too were these padawans jumping all over him with a multitude of questions. A lesser droid would have been overwhelmed by these events, but, fortunately, he was a top of the line model and could keep pace.

The droid huffed: "I'm not allowed to divulge the contents of that or any other holocron to anyone. If I knew how this alleged thief was able to come and go, then I suspect that the lot of you wouldn't be assigned to this case. The Jedi libraries are a very high traffic area, and so I would expect to find many many sets of fingerprints, indexing them will take some time but I have been thorough in documenting them.

"If this perpetrator did leave a scent, I am unaware of it; I suspect that you'll want to examine the area for yourselves to determine whether he left any clues or no. I can grant you access but must stress that you cannot touch anything. I suppose that I can also grant you access to the security feeds. Jedi Master Catherine Haynes was the last one to enter this room."

Abruptly, EG-PO then turned to Zayne. He was unable to reflect any emotions. Being a droid and all, his features simply would not move. Regardless, EG-PO gave the boy a look that could have melted durasteel. He was clearly displeased with the overall situation.

"Pray tell, how would checking my memory core possibly help you find the thief? Unless you are insinuating that I am the thief and that I have to prove my innocence, I see no need for that. If you are accusing me of such, then I will insist that someone trained to be competent in droid mechanics examines my core. My instruments and wiring are very delicate, and I simply cannot be manhandled by just anyone. I trust you understand."

Cal looked at Tsume "Check the video feeds if you'd like" he said then he turned to the droid "About what time was the holocron reported stolen?" he asked, he was curious and also it would see how far away the thief could have gotten and how urgent it is to get to him/her. "Also, since you can't tell me what the contents are, how much would this holocron go for in the black market or any market for that matter?" he asked as well, because from the price he could get a sense of who the theif is.

"No need to check footage, there wont be any." Tsume growled kindly. "I just need a scent. Droid, we wont touch anything, just show us where the holocron was before it was stolen." He ordered. He doubted there would be much evidence, but one thing people never thought to hide was their stench, and each person, no matter who they were, had a distinct stench.

Tony looked at Tsume and said, "Even if it has a scent there have to have been more people touching that holocron."

Now they weren't even listening to him. EG-PO huffed and began answering the redundant questions. It wasn't as though he was being that monotonous.

"As I have already explained, I discovered that the holocron had been removed from the room this very morning. In regards to its worth, it is a holocron. To the right person, I am sure that it would be worth a king's ransom. I'm afraid that my programming and your lack of clearance prevents me from saying more than that."

He paused for a moment. During that interlude, his systems accessed the Temple security system and requested temporary clearance for the group of padawans. Once the necessary datawork was filled, EG-PO waved a hand at the holocron library's door and the portal slid open effortlessly.

"Now, then. If you will follow me?" The droid led the way into the library. "And please remember not to touch anything."

* * * *

Rows upon rows of holocrons greeted the padawans; the silent cubes were greeted by the quiet whirring of air scrubbers and contamination prevention fields. The room was oval in shape, with great, tiered shelves stretching around the room's perimeter. Little holographic projectors, powered down so that their displays were illegible, rested before each holocron-- probably as a means of identifying the machine's contents. Beyond these sparse furnishings, the room was bare.

While most of the holocrons were uniform in size and shape, there was the odd exception here and there. EG-PO ignored the various odds and ends and scurried across the room. He paused before a suspiciously empty frame and waved a mechanical hand at the containment case.

"Here is where the holocron should be. But, as you can see, it is not. No one has touched anything since the moment that the theft was discovered." EG-PO all but sighed. "I haven't even had the chance to clean yet."

1) There are three scent trails leading from the holocron's case. One is female. Two are male. The strongest, most recent scent, belongs to a male.

2) There are strands of long blond hair caught in one of the shelves.

3) Underneath the shelf closest to the doorway, wedged beneath the frame, are several food wrappers.

4) There's some flecks of white dust near the floorboards, by the door. It might bear further investigation.

You guys can discover these at your leisure. Some of them might be a red herring. Time will tell.

Cal nodded and followed the droid. He looked at the libary of Holocrons, he was almost enticed to touch one but since he was told not to, he didn't. He moved to where the droid was and smirked when the droid mentioned cleaning. Cal nodded, he walked back to the doorway trying to retrace the criminal's steps, when he did he saw something. It was underneath the shelf nearest to him, he bent down and looked at it, picking it up with the Force he continued to look at it. "People are allowed to eat in here?" he asked, it would be quiet suprising if they were.

Tsume followed the droid, crimson eyes sparkling with determination. If there were no fingerprints there most certainly would be a scent. People never thought to hide their scent, unless they actually suspected that they would be tracked by a giant wolf with a nose the size of a human fist, which usually, they didn't. Besides, there wasn't much they could do to hide their scent anyway.

Cal's question unfocused him, and he walked over toward the padawan curiously. "No, I'm quite certain people are not allowed to eat in here." He answered, snatching the wrapper from the air and holding it to his nose, delicatly between two claws, not wanting to disturb any evidence. There was a slight scent, distinct, but faint. Frowning, he handed the wrapper back to Cal and went back to examine the place the valuable holocron was supposed to be.

After several moments of checking and double checking, Tsume quickly distinguished three of the most recent scents. The most recent and distinct scent was obviously male. He turned, and his sharp eyes caught a gleam of blond caught on one of the shelves. He moved forward to investigate, and sniffed at the hair. Male. The hair still in his hands, he walked quickly toward the droid.

"Tell me the last people here and describe them as best you can." He ordered, then held up the hair. "And I would like a DNA test on these strands of hair." He didn't have the proper device to do it himself, but he was sure the droid could either do it itself or direct him to someone who could. "And Cal! Could you bring that wrapper over here? It's likely to have fingerprints."

Tony entered the room looking for clues all around, and he was amazed when Tsume found a blonde hair. Tony then noticed some flecks of white dust on the floor and he said, "Hey look at this guys."

A look of droididal horror passed over EG-PO's eyes. He examined the floating wrapping with a doubting eye. To think that his record of perfection would be so thoroughly shattered to pieces in one terrible night. Agh. It was madness!

"No, there is no food permitted here." EG-PO allowed his voice to wax forlorn. This was immediately followed by a loud sigh. "As I have stated before, the archives sat empty for most of the night. The only person to visit them after I had performed the evening maintenance was Jedi Master Catherine Haynes. She is a tall woman with short black hair, green eyes, and a noble bearing. I hardly think that she could have left this hair behind... unless she was wearing a wig for some odd reason."

EG-PO turned his attention towards performing the rudimentary investigations that had been requested of him. While he was not normally an investigative unit, the news of the theft had allowed him access to a host of modular systems that he would not otherwise have access to. Fingerprinting and DNA scanning were two of those. He swiftly scanned the hair, food wrapper and dust and then issued his report.

He found himself very perplexed. "This... makes very little sense. The white powder that had been detected was... I am ashamed to say... dandruff. The DNA of the dandruff matches that of the hair. A number of fingerprints were found on the wrapper. According to my internal database, the DNA and the fingerprints both belong to the same person: A Jedi Knight named Stan Recwar.

"This is rather embarrassing, but... I'm afraid that I have no record of Stan Recwar accessing this facility at any time within the past week. Yet, I am certain that the fingerprints on this wrapper are less than a day old. I find this really very bizarre."

EG-PO, attitude gone, looked at the group of padawans. He hoped that someone else could shed some light on this supposed contradiction. Words could not aptly identify the frustration that he felt over all of this.
