Thread update notifications?

So lately in order to keep up with threads I've tried using the "Subscribe via my notifications panel" options under thread tools. The only problem is, I get no update in my notifications area even after I do this. Is there another setting I need to turn on to make this work?

I assumed I would get notifications from this method in the same way I get notifications for visitor messages and PMs, or am I wrong?

I too have been having trouble actually getting notifications for when people post in a thread.

I too have had trouble with this and likewise assumed I was just doing it wrong.

It works mostly, and sometimes it just doesn't. I've had this problem before as well.

Yeah when you subscribe to a thread, and let's say I am supposed to reply to it, you can track whether or not I have done so by going to the 'Settings' option and clicking 'Subscriptions' or 'View all subscriptions' and there you have it, no need to swim through all the story threads for it. A list of all your sub'd threads and a bunch of other info is there like it'd be when you see it in the 'Story' section.

You're welcome. :CHappy

what Gaja and Neo said.

also try un- subscribing and re- subscribing. that generally fixes the 'bug' for me.

cheers!

I am so late to this party but yea. Generally this can be resolved by unsubbing, refresh, resub, to the thread that's giving you problems. It doesn't sound like there's a site wide issue with the specific query, but I'm going to check just to be sure that the DB is actually registering existence of new posts rather than just storing them.

As for thread notifications being like PM or VM notifications, that's not a thing. It would A) mean you have zillions of notifications to sort through every time you log in and B) would probably end up being just as touchy.
