To Become a Knight: Zaifa's Training

[GABA]

Zaifa gritted her teeth preparing for his blade to strike her energy shield. The field shown brighter she could feel the blade smack the barrier and she released it taking a step back without thinking twice about it to give her space between Zoltroy and her. Her eyes were focused and prepared to summon it once more if he did again.

 

[Dmitri]

"Good, but let's try to keep it up," said Zolotoy.

Once Zaifa had reerected the Force Barrier, Zolotoy struck again.

 

[GABA]

Zaifa threw out her arms again generating the Force Barrier, she felt the saber connect with the shield, her mind cleared and complete focus on what she was doing and the shield stayed up.

 

[Dmitri]

"Good," said Zolotoy. "Another variant is Tutanisis. It's a barrier meant to deflect Force-based attacks."

Zolotoy set up a tutanisis and suggested Zaifa try a Force move on him.

 

[GABA]

Legs spread apart for balance, Zaifa threw a back hand releasing a force push at her Master to see how this shield defense worked.

 

[Dmitri]

Zolotoy braced himself with a stance of his legs a little bent to absorb the blow. He wasn't for certain whether a Force Push would be absorbed by the Tutanisis or bounce off, pushing Zolotoy.

Zol's Tutanisis absorbed the Force Push.

"Good," said Zolotoy. "Now you try."

[GABA]

Zaifa extended her arms and waited for Zol to release whatever Force attack he was conjuring. She relaxed her body and calmed her mind, listening to the Force to alert her.

 

[Dmitri]

Zolotoy attempted a Force Pull, which would require him to pull through the Tutanisis. If her barrier was effective, his volly would fail. If not, she would be lurched forward.

 

[GABA]

The force had yet to fail her! She was expected another force push, but she felt something off, it was a pull and she accepted it, pulling on his force pull and absorbing it in her hands and into her body. She closed her hands and lowered her arms, still alert but pleased with herself.

 

[Dmitri]

"Very good," said Zolotoy. "Now, let's take a small break."

Zolotoy ordered a meal to be brought up. Five minutes later, a droid delivered two meals. Zolotoy spoke between food items.

"Now, we've done some basics, but it would be best to focus on a particular skill. For me, I worked on telekinetic lightsaber combat and Doppelganger. What you decide is up to you."

 

[GABA]

Zaifa sat with her meal listening to her teacher she sat in thought for a long time, cleaning half her plate, she knew what she wanted.

"Well, I want to be able to fight, but after what I have seen, there has to be other ways in fighting besides using a blade. I've seen some masters and their ability in telekinesis, just using their environment to fight and not their blades. And I want to be able to do that too." the padawan put down her fork and plate frowning for a moment, "I really don't like fighting Master, I'd rather use my mind to convince others to go about their business." she replied tapping her finger to her head referring to her empathy.

 

[Dmitri]

"Force Persuasion and Morichro would be two Force powers to try then," said Zolotoy. "However, I can teach you Force Persuasion but Morichro will be difficult. The only person in the Jedi Order that I can think of right off the bat is Hector."

Incase Zaifa didn't know exactly what Morichro was, Zolotoy explained that Morichro slowed down the bodily functions of a target, eventually putting them into a Force-induced coma. Morichro was an advanced move so it would take time to master.

 

[GABA]

"I definitely want to advance my skills in mind tricks and such, but as for Morichro, I can seek out Master Hector to learn this skill." Zaifa replied then cleaned the rest of her plate.

 

[Dmitri]

"Then let us start," said Zolotoy. "Have you any practice with telepathy?"

 

[GABA]

"It kind of gets me into trouble." she told Zol handing off her plate to the droid that had waited on them, "When I used to fight with other initiates, I can hear their thoughts as well as their emotional state behind them. Then after that it spirals out of control..." she looked away, scratching her head in embarrassment.

 

[Dmitri]

"Then the first step is to try to control this," suggested Zolotoy.

Zolotoy motioned to the rest of the temple.

"Can you hear the thoughts of anyone besides me?"

 

[GABA]

"No, just your thoughts right now. Maybe a distant whisper of someone passing outside the room. Its really quite peaceful in here." she smiled and relaxed for a moment, taking a moment to listen around her.

 

[Dmitri]

"Then let us try to control it," said Zolotoy. "Can you try wrapping a ward around your mind? Inclose your mind, your own little bubble. This won't just help block out other people's thoughts, but also help protect you from having your mind be infiltrated."

 

[GABA]

Zaifa inhaled, then exhaled and closed her eyes talking to herself in a low whisper. It had taken her years from when she first arrived at the temple to get up barriers to control her mind. "You'll have to quiet your mind too Master." she whispered as she focused.

The padawan touched the Force, drawing its power into her mind, voices became louder but begun to dim. She placed her hands on her knees, sitting in meditation. She could feel the Force starting to build the walls and repairing what was once there. The walls grew and grew and it was becoming so quiet, her own Master's thoughts were no longer lingering in her head.

The padawan opened her eyes several hours later, listening to the Force to know when it was complete. She tilted her head to listen and smiled, "Ah...its been years since it was this quiet." she whispered.

 

[Dmitri]

"I see," said Zolotoy. "Now, can you...."

HERE ME NOW! Zolotoy attempted to blare into Zaifa's mind using telepathy. If her barrier was strong enough, it would fail, otherwise she'd get a lovely wakeup call.
