Description
The VAAT-h is a modernized and slightly upsided version of the tried and tested LAAT Gunship of the Clone Wars. Chief among the modifications added by Stiel Industries is the addition of a hyperdrive, although this was at a cost in transport capacity. The second most notable improvement of the craft was the modualization of it's weapon systems, allowing a greater degree of customization. The most common weapons of choice are the trusted blaster cannons and repeating heavy blasters, although a myriad of other weapons exist, ranging from rocket pods to anti-missile defensive lasers to even high pressure flamethrowers. Even the fearsome rocket launchers have been modernized, and can be swapped between proton torpedo or concussion missile launchers, heavy blaster cannons, or even simply removed for added maneuverability and reduced cost.

If this is Rebel tech, this needs approval through all faction leaders, not through the tech board. Please confer with your faction leader to find out what your faction's process for tech submissions is and where to go with this.

Also, there already are two VAATs, the VAAT/i and the VAAT/c, both belonging to the Imperium.

So these things need to change their names as well.

VAAT is a pretty standard name. I see no reason why this name would need to change just because the Imperium uses it too.

@Jiang - we don't have a tech submission process in the Rebels yet so unless you have any objection, we can probably have it approved here?

A name change to avoid confusion would be logical, but there's no rule against multiple vehicles of the same name. (Though where indie factions are involved, lawsuits over copyright infringement become a concern. Remember kids - if you steal someone's name, someone might try to bring you to space court and send your butt to space jail for stealing their space name. I'm joking, except I'm not. Or am I?)

@Bac: I can give preliminary approval on this.

I'll designate this VAAT-h then, it's a little bigger than the Imp version anyway.

And if you say it without thinking too hard, it kinda sounds like vatty. Don't judge me. :bitchez

If its purpose is to transport people from the vacuum of space to normal atmosphere, then I don't see the purpose of a hyperdrive attached to it. If you want to keep the hyperdrive, then I suggest just using another ship model. I didn't think these transports were made for hyperspace travel.

My initial design didn't have a hyperdrive and kept the LAAT's transport capacity of thirty, but I figured the Rebels might have use of a hyperdrive for small raids or other scum-like activities. I did have a bit written in about removing the hyperdrive for extra space.

As for not being hyperspace capable, it's not -that- ugly is it? :CCry2

Also, if you want this thing to have a hyperdrive, you need to list it's rating. How fast it travels through Hyperspace.

The flamethrowers are going to be utterly useless as an aerial weapon, fyi.

Approbed regardless.

Thanks! I know the flamethrowers are useless against fighters, but they work great for suppressing fire.
