She entered the club and shut the door behind her without detection. The guest were too occupied watching the scantily clad dancers on stage to notice the girl slip inside and she quickly made her way deep into it’s vicinity, taking shelter behind some storage containers in the back to clear her head and catch her breathe. She had never been caught on a job before- but a client had never died before her eyes. The whole situation was upsetting and changed the way she saw her “business” - she always knew it was in the realm of possibility one of the force users she sheltered people from would find her with their own two eyes and punish her for her aid in their enemies escape. She was frightened, she could already feel his hands around her neck- she awaited- expected him to find her.

A green twi’lek passed her view quietly and took a seat just inches away- taking a break from the stage with a delayed yawn. Rare quadruple lekku followed and drew Sillowe’s eyes to the many other oddities on her person.

She stood at an average height for her sex with the toned figure of an athlete and humble endowments. Her eyes were delicately tilted upward and almond shaped with reptilian Iris’ of bronze and their whites stained lemon yellow-Her left was bruised. Her nose was nearly level and smooth and her cheek bones pronounced with a small elegant mouth between.

She seemed closer in appearance to a snake then a humanoid. Her facial structure was reminiscent to serpentine even in the way she conveyed her emotions.

Sillowe watched from her hiding place, examining the dancer like a new breed the galaxy had never laid eyes upon.

The twi’lek sat awhile then looked up with a smile as a man with untidy hair in brown robes approached her. As he passed the hilt of a light saber flashed beneath his cloak, holstered at his belt.
She took his hand as if he’d offered an invitation to ball room dance and followed him behind the supply area where the pair would be free of prying eyes.

Little did they know the one’s belonging to the stow-away had taken and interest in them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

“I am sorry, Vaiper.” said the Jedi laying a hand on her shoulder as she bowed her head with a look of heart breaking disappointment.

When she looked up again it was to seize both his hands in hers and plead,

“ Master flown, I can do this! Let me speak with-”

“It has nothing to do with your competence, my dear.” He assured her.

“You’re much too old, they won’t allow me to train you.” and with that he left her, throwing his hood over his head and disappearing back into the club and out the door.
She was crushed. It wasn’t hard to see, her Lekku drooped and she sat, her ankles crossed and her head lowered with anguish.

Sillowe’s heart ached for the twi’lek. She made her move, coming cautiously to the despondent dancer’s side.

“Are you alight….?” she asked softly.

The young woman looked up with alarm. She turned to the girl wide eyed and jumped to her feet.

“What are you doing in here?” she snarled.

“Please don’t tell anyone I’m here!” Sillowe begged, she hadn’t thought about the consequences of making her presence known and she was afraid of being kicked back out into the streets where her pursuers could still be lurking.

The green female grabbed the girl’s wrist and began to lead her out the door.

“This is no place for a little girl, kid.” she said with a sigh. She had thrown out her share of young boys but finding a girl so young was a first.

“No wait!” The human implored, resisting with all her strength. “ I just came in because I needed to hide and when I saw you talking with that Jedi I-”

The dancer stopped dead in her tracks, her jaw pulled open and left to drop by the hand of astonishment. She back tracked, dragging the girl with her out the reverse door and into the dingy neon lit alley behind.

The low murmur of club goers and seedy salesmen was the soundtrack of the night and the twi’lek released her prisoner’s wrist and seized her shoulders, looking into her eyes with the penetrating yellow of her sharp cat-like iris‘.

“ What do you know about jedi?” She demanded.

Her face was shockingly young. Her body appeared undeniably mature but face to face it was easy to see the Lekku’d woman was just a girl.

“So he was a Jedi!” Silowe exclaimed. “You were going to be his Padawan weren’t you!”

“Shhh!” The dancer pressed her index finger to her lips to signal silence and discretion.

“Quiet!” She hissed. She looked around before continuing.

“Do you know how much a dancer with a battered face makes?” She asked rhetorically gesturing at her swollen purple eye.
“If my boss hears you, I’m in for it again!”

“I’ve met a lot of jedi but never a twi’lek are you going to-”

“Kid, Kid, Kid, Kid! ” She chanted in growing volume as the child spoke, finally breaking in with success.

“It doesn’t matter…I’m too old…No one will train me.” said the Twi’lek with her eyes downcast.

“Oh…” Sillowe mimicked the gesture with her doubled Iris‘.

Looking on past the young lady a familiar face in the crowd was searching- It was the force using Kiffar from earlier. The human gasped and returned to the door, the Twi’lek following and blocking her escape.

“What do you think your doing?” she growled.

“You have to let me in! Just for a little while, please!” Sillowe begged

“No can do, I’m already on the back burner!”

“If you let me in I swear I’ll keep your secret!”

She said the right thing.

The corner of the rejected Padawan’s mouth pulled back and she looked away.

“Just keep out of sight.” was all she said as she granted the girl sanctuary.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

“What’s your name?” Sillowe asked between bites of bread. She was sitting on the counter of the club’s kitchen and enjoying whatever food her new companion offered as she prepared a few meals for waiting customers.

“Vaiper Burnbrient.” the Twi’lek said, glancing up with a bit of reluctance.

The Little human laughed.

“That is such a dancer name!” She giggled.

“yeah well…technically I’m a Junior- Vaiper was my Mom’s name.” Vaiper added with a rehearsed air.

“Oh…” Silowe quietly peeped. “Can I call you Junior?” she asked with a smile.

Vaiper laughed, flipping some meat onto a plate and sliding it out a slot to the waitress outside.

“You wouldn’t be the first.”

“I’m Sillowe.” The human added.

“Sah-lowe? Like Allow with a ‘s‘?”

“Uh huh.” Sillowe said, reaching for a drink.

“Just Sillowe then?”

“I don‘t know….Devil-dog. That‘s it..” The girl said with little feeling, she changed the subject quickly.

“You look really young, Junior. Like Really Young. For a dancer I mean…”

“I’m 16.” Vaiper said hurriedly.

“what!”

“Yeah,” the twi’lek laughed. “ Keep that to yourself too- I’m supposed to be an adult here.”

She lifted herself onto the counter and sat by her young interviewer’s side.

“fuuum….” She hummed examining the human’s eyes with interest. “Where are you from? I don‘t think I‘ve ever seen someone of your species before.”

“I’m just a human.” Sillowe said. “Some people think I’m a mutt- like a mix of something else, but they told me it was just a mutation.”

“they?” The twi’lek echoed.

“Just people…” Sillowe replied.

“I’ve never seen anyone else with eyes like yours” Junior mused dreamily.

“Me neither.” The girl said, looking into her companion’s face. “but you’re different too- You look a little different.”

“I’ve been accused of being a mutt too.” said the green girl as she slid from her seat and onto her feet. “But I’m not quite sure what made me the way I am- I just….Am.”

“Its hard being different because there’s a thin line between exotic and strange…Most of the time people just think you’re-”

The door suddenly slammed open with an angry Twi’lek male in its wake. “Junior!”

The girl named jumped, her head tails growing stiff.

The man strode to her side with an annoyed expression and regarded her young friend with disgust.

“A little birdie told me that jedi paid you a visit again…” He said, seething.

“I don‘t know what you‘re talking about” Protested the dancer. “I told him to leave the last time. Ask-”

“And I told you he wasn’t welcome here!” the man thundered, striking the wall near her cheek. She shrunk bad and lowered her chin, glaring up at him with eyes of venom.“I’m not paying you to run off with some force using lunatic every night!” Her employer spat.

“I didn’t see him.” Vaiper insisted coldly.

When his advances about the jedi didn’t produce the effect he’d hope for he set his sights on the unwelcome child in their midst.

"just who is this?” he demanded.

“A friend. She needs a place to stay just until my shift is over.” the young woman’s tone held a bit of pleading.

“Vaiper…” He forewarned.

“Just until my shift is over.” She repeated. She added a soft string of twi’leki and his expression softened.

“Ok. Until your shift is over but I won’t have her running around. This isn’t a day care center.” He left on a sour note. The Twi’lek sighed and leaned against the counter, slouching with dismay. Sillowe stared at her with curiously, she hadn’t expect her new companion to so readily defend her.

“Thanks.” She said.

“He’s an old pervert, I wouldn’t be surprised if her offered you a job after all of this.”

--------------------------------------------------------

As the two girl’s left the club, walking down the empty streets side by side they chatted idly and Sillowe voiced a proposal she’d been shaping mentally all throughout the evening.

“ We could totally team up!”

The Twi’lek took long strides with her coat over her shoulder and stopped at the suggestion.

“ Elaborate.“ She said.

“I‘m not like normal people,” Sillowe explained. “ Its like the force keeps flowing but goes right past me- jedi can’t sense me- Miralukas feel like their looking at a gap in the stream when I’m near- it effects other people too! When they’re close to me its like they can’t be sensed either!”

“You’re dead to the force?” Vaiper suggested incredulously.

“No…” corrected the girl, her head lowered.

“I’m not dead to it. Jedi can still use their powers around and on me. I’m not immune. I’m just…its like I’m not there.”

Vaiper stayed silent and failed to see her place in all Sillowe suggested.

“people pay me to follow them,” Sillowe went on.

“people hiding from jedi and what not. They hire me to stay with them so they can hide more easily.”

The dancer listened patiently.
“hmmm…”

“I could lead them! I could lead my clients to your work and you could keep them busy- find out why they’re fleeing and-”

“Sell their next location to their hunters….” Vaiper finished staring off down the street. There was a darkness in her intentions that made her young friend shrink back. It wasn’t precisely what she’d had in mind.

The woman of green looked down and smirked.

“Ok.” She agreed.

She knelt to Sillowe’s level and offered her hand.

HISTORY:
Vaiper “Junior” Burnbrient was a dancer on Nar Shadda who’s dreams of being a jedi were crushed by age 16. Her force sensitivity wasn’t discovered until her early teens and she was never trained in formal force using. She ran an Information broking operation with Human, passive- force sensitive Sillowe Devil dog, in which her associate was paid to lend her cloaking abilities to fugitive fleeing force user’s detection. While hiding within the club the twi’lek was employed at, Vaiper would gain the trust of the refugees under the veil of Sillowe and sell their whereabouts to their pursuers.

Early life

Named after her mother, Vaiper bared little resemblance to either parent and was often neglected- put into the care of a nurse droid. With her mother constantly plagued by weakness since before memory served she felt little attachment and failed to bond with her. After her father’s departure she emaciated herself (though not legally) and made a life on Nar Shadda alone, taking only “Nanna” the nurse droid along with her.

Fishing In The River Styx

Shortly after her independent life began, “junior” met a young human girl with strange double iris’ and an even stranger ability. Sillowe, as she was called, (10 years old at the time) could not be sensed by force users, seen to miralukas as a gap in the force and effecting all those with the same cloaking ability in her presence- she was not dead to the force ( jedi powers still effected her) but seemed to be detached from its stream.

The two quickly bonded and made a pact and started working together, using both their strengths to their benefit. While the human took business in shielding criminals fleeing jedi detection, she lured them to the club where the Twi’lek resided, where Vaiper would gain information on their crimes and sell back their whereabouts to those who sought them.
