Val was always trouble.
From conception, she was an accident, and one not too intent to let her parents forget it. She almost killed her mother in the birth canal, an incident for which her father very nearly never forgave her. Nearly, because as she grew, he found that she had his fighting spirit, and so he gave her a name to reflect that spirit. A name to honor the daughter who had fought so hard to come into the world, the daughter who fought harder to remain in it. It was the last honor he would grant her.
See, Val was strong. The perfect Mandalorian by all accounts. She learned quickly, was deadly with a blaster, and respected the old ways in ways many younger Mandalorians did not. Many of her father's peers thought it was only natural that she would become his heir. But she was not his—not truly. She was only half his, an accidental product of a drunken one-night-stand. And when he finally chose a permanent partner, sired two sons and a daughter with her, there was no place left in his heart for his bastard.
Bitterness and revenge became Val's constant company in the aftermath of her father's rejection. She welcomed them as old friends, let them fuel her in the heat of battle. She became a pilot-for-hire, and used her gunslinging skills to become a bounty hunter, as many of her people had before her. In some small corner of her mind, she hoped her exploits would reach his ears, that he would see his error and take his oldest daughter, his first daughter back. But that call never came, and after many years, Val gave up on waiting for it.
She was the illegitimate Kryze. The one that had never been wanted. And now, she was more determined than ever to prove that name was hers, bastard or not.

Val is a dedicated Mandalorian, loyal to the old ways to the point of fault. She is overzealous in her pursuit to prove she deserves the name "Kryze," which at times makes her short of temper to those she believes are getting in her way or holding her back. It also makes her ruthless towards her targets and enemies, as she believes every failure is just further vindication for her father's abandonment. Her experiences have made her intolerant of those she perceives as having a victim complex, as she believes everyone can better their own situation if they want to bad enough.
But none of this means she is without humor or heart. To those who prove themselves loyal and friendly long enough to crack her shell, Val returns their loyalty tenfold. She will fight at a friend's back to her own detriment, and she will answer a friend's call for aid, even if it conflicts with her own goals. She has a sarcastic sense of humor and is not above taking a piss out of friend or foe mid-combat; but she also strongly believes in Mandalorian honor. When she takes a job, she completes it, and when she gives her word, she keeps it.
Despite her attempts to restrain her vices, for the good of Clan Kryze, Val is known to engage in gambling and has a not-so-secret gambling addiction she struggles to quell. When she is not spending credits on equipment upkeep or repairs, she can often be found in a gambling den.

Her weapons of choice are a pair of Westar-55 heavy blaster pistols, which she keeps holstered on her hips. She is highly fond of these weapons, becoming irritated when separated from them, and is extremely skilled in their use. Aside from her skills as a pilot, her skills as a gunslinger are second-to-none; and she maintains those skills with almost religious fervor. She also keeps a dagger-sized vibroblade in a holster on her leg, just in case her blasters are missing or not an option.
Val pilots a WTK-85a interstellar transport she calls the Stryfe. It acts jointly as a mobile home, as well as the primary vessel she uses when working her capacity as a pilot-for-hire and a bounty hunter. However, she is a highly skilled pilot and mechanic, and can comfortably steer most freighters and starfighters, though larger ships are still somewhat of a challenge. She keeps her personal datapad onboard her ship.
Finally, Val rounds out her skills as a Mandalorian warrior with her aptitude for hand-to-hand combat, having been personally trained by her father before being replaced by his legitimate children. As a bounty hunter, she has also picked up on a number of Outer Rim languages, such as Huttese and Jawaese among others.
