Am I a lord or an Emperor because if I am a lord, I think I'll be William Longsword Duke of Normandy
You're the ruler of France. I'm not sure whether that is a King or Emperor.

Both Frankish Kingdoms had Emperors. The west one was the one that would eventually become France, the East one would eventually become the Holy Roman Empire which was in Germany and Italy

The Viking age was from 800CE to 1066CE. With the height being roughly in the late-middle. So, it'll be... 930CE. At this point, Vikings have been to all parts of Europe, and were incredibly powerful. It's also at this point that History diverges from the current timeline, since none of these people we're playing existed.

I believe he stated most of that already

Sin said MORE detail, meaning that the one, small paragraph you just quoted isn't enough to go on.

Since I suppose I'm the west Frankish Kingdom, will I ever have to worry about Bretons, Normans, or Eastern Franks or others that were a threat to the west Franks? Also, I might have the resources to even go into Denmark and Norway and even take those places.

I'd assume that you could include that if stuff if you want but that won't be your main focus

I'd like the conflicts to be as realistic as possible, so yes. Although, you'd NPC attacks like that. And I may, as sudo-GM, throw some problems at you as side conflicts. And if you do wish to try and take Norway or Denmark, you'd be very hardpressed to take it. It's centers of Dane power.

I'll write up a condensed history for everyone, touching on the political situations of the time, and I'll give you some links so you can better understand the times.

And I'll add more soon, since it looks like we have a nice size, I'll begin adding details.

Also, tell me what subjects need to be touched on, and I can add them.

Viking Power and Society: The Vikings, incorrectly called Danes by the British, were from three main areas: Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Amid the Danes, the Vikings were ruled by Kings, which were not necessarily the same as British Kings. The Danes were ruled by a handful of Kings, the number varying from around 10-15. But they did not share the same amount of power. Usually, four or five Kings would conquer the smaller Kings land and take control. They came from the Noble class, and Kingships were often handed down through heredity. However, this was not always the case. Often, Jarls, or Nobles, would elect a King, and thus, the new line would commence.

The Viking social structure was made up of three casts: The Slaves, Freemen, and Jarls. The Vikings, however, knew that all three levels are crucial to the Viking economy. As such, even Slaves had a nominal freedom, so to speak. Much like the Spartan’s of Greece, there was no warrior class in the Vikings, all Freemen were warriors, and any man or woman could join a raiding party for any number of months, and could leave at any time.

I've added some stuff and a map, which I'll modify once I find a new one. Note that for obvious reasons, the Danelaw, which was passed by Alfred the Great-which allowed Viking settlements in Britain-never happened, and the Danes are still sieging and fighting with Britain and the other countries.

I'll be neutral. I might change allegiance later on though.

At the moment I don't want any army statistics. Just the History of your ruler, his appearance, and personality. I'll tell you when to add the army stats.

Is our ruler a fictional character?
It can be. At this point, History changes, to incorporate our fictisious rulers. However, you could use the real ruler of the Bryzentine Empire during 945CE.

o ok, i dont have a picture yet.

name: Douglas Mackay

Personality: Douglas is a kind but strong willed ruler. He rose to power by defeating all the others that opposed his rule thus uniting them together. He has fought in many wars and has become an excelent tactician. He can be talkative when around friends and will speak his mind when needed.

History: Douglas was rasied to be a warrior, his father bathed him and his brothers in the fires of combat from an early age. He was the youngest son and as suck he had ot stay behind for many battles that his brothers and father got to participate in. Because of this, he trained and worked harder to prove he was just a warrior as any of them. Tragically his sibling and father were all killed in a large battle against the invadeing Vikings. After their burial he vowed to kill as many Vikings as he could and to drive them out of his homeland. He unified the clans od Scotland and has started his campaign againt the Vikings.
