Are large Islamic migrations negatively affecting western civilization, society and culture?

Anyone who reads the newspapers or news websites, etc, every once in a while has probably heard of the many qualms Muslims seem to have with the western world, and they are certainly doing something about it.

For example:
Great (although I'm really not sure that adjective should go there) Britain stopped teaching about the Holocaust in their public schools about a year ago, because it may offend Muslim children and families. I'll say it again: Britain, whose own men died in the conflict of WWII and helped liberate nazi prisoners, is no longer teaching about the holocaust in their schools, lest it offend the muslims. What are your opinions on this?

From my point of view, If I go to Iran, or Iraq, or lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Or any other Muslism nation, I am expected to follow that nations values and culture, at least as much as I can for the duration of my stay.
I don't go to Iran and say "Listen, I'm not really digging this pray five times a day thing. That shit hurts my knees, so i think to make it easier for everyone with bad knees, we should no longer pray to allah five times a day. Also, I really, really, really, enjoy the female form, but all girls here are so covered up. I think so that I am not offended, or so I don't feel excluded, we should have it so all girls run around in bikinis.
Islam doesn't seem to concern itself with that. Wherever it arrives, it immediately starts changing the environment to suit ISLAM better. And **** anyone else.

That's the first I've heard of that not teaching the holocaust thing. Though, from that article, the impression was given that it wasn't Government policy, but rather a decision made on a school by school basis.

Because it certainly isn't policy. WWII and the holocaust remains on the national syllabus. I assure you that kids still learn that stuff. I did, and they haven't changed the course in the last two years, so yeah.

You'll find that it's individual schools. And the article you linked even says that it wasnt to avoid offending muslims, but rather to avoid potential anti-semitic reactions from them. So really, it was a protect the jews thing, instead of a pussyfoot around the muslims one.

So yes, I can see Islamic migration being "harmful" but that's only the first generation. The other generations usually adapt to our society.

The same goes for Jews too.

I do see Islam as a threat to western culture and society. I am not willing to let it be destroyed for the religious beliefs of intolerant foreigners. Neither are a lot of other people in the United States. Down the street from my house use to be an Islamic teaching center that use to play music really really loud during there prayers or whatever and recently they got shut down and a church bought the property and destroyed the building. I don't want to sound intolerant but I'd rather have bells down the street than rambling in arabic. Personally I am in favor of banning Immigrants from becoming US citizens though thats my personal opinion.

I respect a guests wishes for the most part, but there is a line to be crossed. I think that many western countries are somewhat insensitive to the Arabic world.

The fact that it's against the UK's law to 'insult' Muslim ideas, culture, etc is completely outrageous. I'm pretty sure Kupo's right, they're still teaching about the Holocaust in most British schools... but none of the schools should stop teaching about it. If teaching about it provokes anti-Semetic reactions from Muslim students, then those Muslim students obviously need to change their behaviour.

As you said Agri, they need to start changing their behaviour a bit to fit in with Western culture, as we would in their countries.

Well anyways. I'm 100% American, born in Saudi, lived in Dubai/Abu Dhabi for 8 years. From what I've gathered, most of them think shallowly of the Americans as well. Always complaining their assess off about us and vice versa. From when I've studied there, nobody gave a flying **** about each values of both the Westerners and the Muslims. But the westerners still respected it because they were on their land and they complained to other westerners, but never to the Middle-easterns themselves.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, when you enter a new culture, respect that culture's values. Clearly, in this situation about the holocaust techings, the middle-easterns do not see it in a neutral stance. However, that school's to blame for being so weak and subjective.
