I don't have really a least favorite but one of my favorite Star Wars novels has to be the Revenge of the Sith novelization. It just includes so much more and has so much feeling and thought in it that the movie lacks. I feel like several of the scenes in the book and definitely some of the dialogue as well should have been somewhere in the actual movie.
My favorite novel is Revenge of the Sith. The movie was bad, but the book actually made it pretty good. A few new key scenes plus internal thoughts really helped it become a good story.
I don't know if I have a least favorite book, but one of my least favorite stories is the Dark Empire comic book. I understand where they were going with it and what they were doing, but to me it undermined the ending of Return of the Jedi.
Do I have to choose a favorite? Revenge of the Sith novelization, definitely. It adds way more depth to the story that the movie couldn't be bothered to cover. I love the movie, but the book fleshes it out a ton. I'm also fond of NJO: Edge of Victory II: Rebirth.
Least favorite has to be Kenobi. It was terrible on so many levels.
My fav was 'The Last of the Jedi' series. I can't really decide which one in particular. I also liked the ROTS novelization. For reasons mentioned above.
My least favorite was the black fleet crisis. Journey can't get more boring and plain Star Wars writing.
It's been while since I have read any Star Wars novels, I started reading the Legacy of the Force series and its really turned me off to the novels. Regardless, I can say I have really enjoyed the books I have read.
Comic book wise, there are several out there that I have been impressed with such as The Crimson Empire saga. However, Star Wars: Legacy and Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi are just dull and redundant, really not offering anything new to the Star Wars story.
... Regarding least favourite novels, has anybody enjoyed the Fate of the Jedi series? I'm trying to read Omen, yet I wonder if going to the dentist is more fun than struggling through this.. Who the heck calls their group of friends 'The Unit' anyway?!
Probably the Thrawn trilogy and Destiny's Way from the NJO series. I thought both were really good and worth the money. Least favorite has to be Bloodlines from the Legacy of the Force series; a weak series made even weaker by one of the authors not seeming to care about what was going on in the other books. I've even had people who defend the series admit that the all the ones by Traviss were awful. The Shadows of the Empire comic I thought was pretty weak; the novel was alot better.
My gut says Visions of the Future, part 2 of the Thrawn duology. Buuuuut I dunno. I guess what I like about that story isn't so much the plot (it was actually pretty dull, and far too Thrawn-wank), but rather it felt the closest to an actual "ending" for Star Wars.
The Empire finally surrenders completely, all the quasi-Sith/Dark Jedi are finally ****ing dead, Han and Leia's family is stable and showing great potential, Luke's Jedi Order is stable, and he's finally found someone who can make him happy and with whom he can settle down with. All around a very solid and well-deserved on the characters' parts ending to the story.
... and then the ****ing Vong War and subsequent Fail of the Jedi nonsense starts up. Ugh.
Anyway, least favorite book would probably be... uhh...
I'll throw out a curve-ball and say I, Jedi. No offense to anyone who liked it- personally I just thought Corran Horn was a bit of a Gary Stu. From his "best of the best" piloting to his special-snowflake energy absorption powers, to his James Bond-esque seduction of females to his genius intellect and amazing fighting abilities. It was just too much for me.
