Soldiers. Just some guy doing his duty despite bad conditions. Not a leader, not a speacial person. The type of character through whom the difficulties and the tragedies of the life of the soldier could be told in the most realistic and harsh way possible.

How about politicians? I'd love to see some house of cards style intrigue going down. Albeit this may need to wait for the dawn of the republic.

If you want to do a corporate type character, Bonadan is the capital of the corporate sector and currently in free space. Personally I'd love to do a few dealings with such a character, as I have a particular interest in Bonadan, located at S3 on the galactic map.

We used to have that, actually. Before the timeskip, the Republic was a main faction, with soldiers and Senators. But there was basically no activity, and its removal as a faction became a plot point to kick off the 5 year timeskip.

We actually had this at the beginning of the timeline with the Senate- intrigue, corruption, tabloid scandals, the whole 12 parsecs. Then they all became Senator-Generals of the military overnight and the faction promptly withered and died.

Edit: Ninjad by Dan. My vengeance will be swift and terrible.

Well...

A Tabloid Scandal

But it was a pretty awesome tabloid scandal, so I can't complain. @Prudence

Well that makes me scared for when the Republic comes back lol a Republic without intrigue isn't the Republic. Although I can imagine at the start it'll be all idealistic and that boring stuff.

No no no no. We also had the Rhonegate-whos-your-daddy scandal.

Eh. I remember seeing something about that, but it never got a ton of momentum. I didn't keep up with it a ton, though, so I could be totally wrong.

Regardless, for a variety of reasons, that all went downhill pretty hardcore as the Republic was reinvented multiple times, and it's hard to get something similar up and going nowadays, although i'd love to see something like that happen.

Actually, we may have a shot at hitting both of these things- albeit on a smaller scale- with the Naboo faction Norbs and Sangaa are working up.

If you guys can get some intrigue, and maintain it, that would be pretty incredibly. I'll be watching Naboo closely.

Probably an Imperial General who's obsessed with cybernetic upgrades, likely one of those ripped Grandpa stereotypes who wants to whip the young whippersnapper Legionairres into shape using Imperial Industry.

Last timeline me and a few people were gonna try something like this. We were gonna be a squad of rebel commandos that would always be in threads together essentially growing closer as a squad and telling stories from a normal soldier perspective. It ended up not panning out, but I always liked the idea of a small squad based story inside one of the bigger factions.

We did this for awhile on a small Rebel corvette shortly after the halftime of last TL. It was very Star Trek Enterprise, but it worked well. I sort of miss writing it. @Minuteman75 knows what I'm talking about.

Oh yea I remember Loco, that was a blast. Sometimes I go back through the timeline archives and re-read those stories of the Corsuca crew, our group.

I do too occasionally- It doesn't help that Arya ended up being the character that was my most nuanced and fun to write, despite starting as a throwaway. And your guy Forim was kind of what I was talking about earlier when I was talking about average joes. IIRC, Forim the Duros was just a dude. He was a good pilot, but not because he was born a savant- he worked hard for it. He became a rebel hero by circumstance and through moral fortitude- not because he was born the chosen one or had a particularly dark and tragic backstory. He was just a cool blue dude, and it made him a strong character with a lot of depth comparedto a lot of the generic, cliched space jesuses that populate the site sometimes.

Actually, the Corusca was where big bad Mandalore Ral Aran got his start too. Also as mostly just a dude. None of us started out super special.

Such a shame it didn't last. I wonder if people would show interest to a similar project in the current timeline.
