Do you guys think that cigarett packs should have those graphic images of what happens to lungs due to too much smoking on them? I don't smoke myself, but its an interesting topic of debate. :bitchez

*Blinks at the post* Well that might deter wannabe smokers from smoking, given that the image I currently have in my head of a rotting pair of lungs is rather... horrendous...

I don't really have an opinion I guess, even if my mother smokes x number of packs a day; guess I'm used to it. *Shrug*

But if I had to choose, then yes.

I agree, but i'm gonna pull a history teacher and play devil's advocate. Cigarrette companies would get mad cuz that would hurt their business :P

Nope.

I smoked a pack (sometimes two) a day for five years. I quit in February and will never smoke again.

That said, governments need to stop persecuting smokers. Whether you like it or not, you can't tell people what they can and can't do with their own bodies.

This issue has long passed the point of being solely about health, this has become a matter of free will.

Yes.

Smoking is nothing but a drain on our health service.

They should tax them and put every nasty image they can on the packs.

I thought we already had that. It's a good system, but not SUPER effective.

Yah.. Well smokings been around for a long time. I don't think anybody will ever stop doing it no matter how many graphic pictures we would put up.. I think one way to stop it if we did more tobacco awareness programs in schools :O

My problem isn't even with the tabacco itself. It's the radioactive crop dusting, the huge amount of addictive matterials that also harm your body, the sawdust they put in it to make 'em burn faster (thus smoke more) and the extra carcinogens they pump into that shit that I take issue with.

Instead of wasting time on all those anti-smoking adds, they should just start making them tobacco only, like they were originally. I think that'd help quite a bit.

Yes. While I don't think it'll help much, it goes with my philosophy when it comes to smoking: If you wanna kill yourselves, just do it immediately and stop wasting time. Don't waste our health resources, don't risk our health with your smoke, and don't waste money on it.

For note, that philosophy is the peak of my cynicism. I'm not normally that much of a jackass, but really it's disgusting. It's deadly, with no possible benefit to outweigh the negatives.

It won't stop smokers from smoking, but if it deters some potential smokers then that's good.

Nope.

It's not a matter of free will when other people have to pay for a smoker's stupidity. America doesn't have public health care, but it sure has a shit ton of public health costs.

Would be too good for people, and too bad for business. No addictive chems = Less customers

:/

This isn't the first time they have tried to do this. And when they did, it wasn't very effective.

If someone is going to smoke they're going to smoke, graphic images or not.
