Death Enabled

Even now as he thought about that feeling, that sensation sent both a shiver down his spine and a smile across his face. Something truly evil had awoken in the Galaxy, at first he wondered if it was the destruction of some world, all that death creates a hole in The Force that sends a wave similar throughout space and time. But no, this was different for it was alive, the dread pulsating across the cosmic waves.

The snap-bang of the ship exiting hyperspace brought forth the glowing white orb of ice that was Hoth. Whatever perverted desire to meet this walking aspect of death Malerion had easily felt where to go and he easily pointed the droid pilot in the direction of the Old Fortress which was this creature's home.

Stepping out of the ship and into the chilling wastes before the Castle, he couldn’t help but smile as he walked towards the grand doors leading inside. Malerion was wrapped in furs and synthetics all built to keep out the cold. A lightsaber on one hip, a sword on the other his seax at his back, he didn’t know what this creature was. If it was friend, foe, sentient or monstrous, that was the reason he was here, to understand what the creature's intent was and if Malerion could use it for his own gains. Or if he would need to eliminate it on his own route to godhood.

He could practically smell the artifact. The Shard. The wraith was deep inside the fortress, but few things happened without him knowing. He knew he was being approached for a while, but he didn’t act just yet. He briefly wondered whether this was yet another inevitable meal that delivered itself to his front doors.

Raze maintained some of the habits he had when he was one with Emryc. He meditated for long periods of time, opting to forgo sleep in the traditional sense. He was always connected to the fabric of the Force, and he could sense each and every pronounced ripple. He saw the aftermath of the waves he created when he became his own form. He could even sense the challenges Emryc now faced as the weakling began to realize how much he leaned on Raze. A cruel grin began to grace his lips.

As the Sith Champion walked towards the gates, he would see a figure slowly forming before his very eyes. It was a powerful use of the Force, the life forming right before him and taking shape. It took the shape of a man until the manifestation presented as an Anzat. The man had crimson eyes, a gaunt face and projected a presence in the Force that was almost overwhelming.

Raze quietly regarded the unexpected visitor, sensing the artifact he carried on him.

“Speak,” He commanded the visitor. The Champion had one opportunity to say something the beast found satisfactory or he risked becoming yet another meal.

Malerion felt a swell in The Force as he approached the looming castle, then before his eyes a black shadow appeared. Instinctively he reached for his weapon, not knowing what was happening. But then he spotted the outline of a figure in the darkness slowly forming and re-relented. Understanding that the power he felt was whatever this was, a smile formed on his face as he realised that this feeling, this presence which radiated across the Galaxy, was a person, a man.

The creature's voice was deep and dark, commanding, whatever this was it knew its power and its worth. Something triggered in the back of his mind, sending him back years ago to when the Avillion Kingdom was flourishing and Dark Side power demanded respect.

Malerion knelt before the dark figure as he would have before Calestis or one of the other Marcher Lords. A sign of respect for power greater than him. “Lord” He began, not knowing that this was Darth Raze, ex-Dark Lord of the Sith, but because it was a sign of respect he gave the power. “I felt a power, a strength in The Force and I was curious to understand what or who it was.” As he spoke his head slightly bowed he explored as much as he could with The Force. Trying to gauge and understand the limits of this creature's power and its mastery over it. Could it be used, or should it be disposed of?

It was curiously challenging to consider his own identity. He had always been Emryc Thorne. He had existed as his own within the weakling’s mind, but he never existed fully independent of Emryc Thorne. He had to remind himself that he was not a 7 ft tall half Sephi President. He didn’t have the chiseled, bronze jaw or the steely silver eyes that everyone recognized on a whim. He didn’t even have the armor that became his signature. It was the one way he was his own identity - when Emryc put on that armor. He would have to rectify that soon.

The Champion knelt and that spared him from immediate termination. The Anzat’s demonic gaze quietly studied the man. How had he acquired a shard? Did he possess only one? All were questions he could yank from his feeble, tiny mind. And yet he didn’t act just yet.

“I was fashioned the name Darth Raze upon a time,” The entity spoke, briefly trailing off. How long had it been? Living inside a mind meant he had no concept of time. Being an Anzat meant time passed slower for him. Nothing operated for him the way it did for most sentients.

“Leave that which you possess and begone,” He stated flatly, “Your little Dark Lord is on the loose and requires your assistance,” He said with a sneer. The shard was good enough of a gift to trade for the Champion’s own life and allow him to venture from here unharmed.

His head was bowed so Raze did not see Malerion’s eyes go wide in surprise when he mentioned his name. So this was what had become of the previous Dark Lord, what had happened to him? He wondered, the last he heard the man had been almost a foot taller and even though he was a powerful Force User Malerion had never felt ripples in The Force such as this. Whatever had happened, he was afraid to ask. Darth Raze was a fountain of knowledge and wellspring of power that Malerion wanted to so desperately drink from. But malice and hunger radiated from the man which sent chills down Malerion’s spine.

The Sith had got what he came for though, he wanted to know what this Dark feeling was and not only had he found out it was a sentient creature, not some tear in the Galaxy but that it was the old Dark Lord returning to the fold. Yes he lost the Shard he had just spent an extortionate amount of credits on, but he was able to escape the Wolf’s den with his life and perhaps the most important piece of information in the galaxy.

Malerion slipped the shard from around his neck placing it on the solid ice in-front of him. “She is not my Lord, Darth Raze but I will not shadow your door any longer.” He replied standing straight he gave him another bow of the head. “Lord.” With that he would make his way as quickly but dignified as possible back to his shuttle.

As he stepped onto the craft its engines immediately fired up and took off. “Record these coordinates, L9.” He said to the droid as Malerion fled for his life.
