As many of you know, I am an obsessive fan of the Sith. They are really the only thing about Star Wars that interests me.

SO LET'S SHARE OUR FAVOURITE SITH LORDS!!!!

I am open to serious discussion, but really this thread was just intended for fun and fangirling on my part.

My favourites:

1. Naga Sadow

I cannot even find the words to describe how awesome I think this man is. He was, in my opinion, almost a perfect Sith. He was totally ruthless and gave no ****s about what anyone thought of him. Yet he wasn't cruel either and was actually very charming, albeit, a bloody liar, hehe. He reminds of ancient world conquerors and warriors from real-world history.

2. Marka Ragnos

I love ghosts, I love horn hats. That, and it also often overlooked just how insanely powerful this guy was. He was the master of Vitiate (the Sith Emperor in TOR) and taught him everything he knew about prolonging his life. He brought the Sith species into the Golden Age of their civilization. I love how demonic he looks in his horned helmet.

3. Ludo Kressh

Psycho bitch with awesome hair. I actually feel quite sorry for the dude, he could never measure up to the awesomeness of his rival. I find his vicious temper and his tantrums kind of adorable.

4. Exar Kun

This guy I've only recently become interested in and I'm starting to read more about his story. It's probably only because I find him totally sexy but oh well.

5. Darth Malgus

I'm a sucker for tragic villains and I love the story between him and Eleena Daru.

6. Darth Nihilus

I haven't actually played KOTOR 2, but I love this guy. He is just so eerie, and kind of cute, but that's only because he was based off No-face from Spirited Away.

7. Darth Sidious

Evil, inhuman bastard. The only thing in the films I really give a shit about.

MY LEAST FAVOURITE:

Dooku and Ventress. Oh wait, she isn't even a Sith.

I also hate the Rule of Two and I think Vader is totally overrated.

TOO MANY CHOICES!

God... ok... I will doubtless make another post when I have more time to thing.

Sidious:

Super evil, super manipulative and ridiculously powerful; this guy was one end of the spectrum for the Sith, totally evil, ruthless and out for power and domination.

Admittedly, I am still a Bane fanboy, because it is the first EU I read when I was around thirteen. I like Revan when he was a Sith too, but there are too many to talk about in a work setting...

Oh, and VADER!!!

See this is why I said that I will doubtless post later! 'Cause now I only have time to be obvious and nostalgic!!!!

I do prefer the ancient Sith, I just don't know as much about them; as unfortunate as that may be. :/

Don't hate me!

Darth Sion. A forgotten Sith by many, let's not forget that he was technically dead and only held himself together through pure hatred and the dark side of the force.

Do share your knowledge with the Sith with me sometime. I am fascinated by them as well.

Ehm, it's extremly diffcult to name an absolute favorite really, I can't even make a proper list.

Darth Sidious, I just love the aura of evil wisdom around him. He does whatever needs to be done without a second thought, he is extremly powerful, manipulative and cunning. It's difficult to express perfectly, I just love him, it's always fun to see him pursue his mastermind plans.

Vader and Revan are both up there, along with Bane and Exar Kun, pursued by Vitiate, Malak; it is absolutely epic when they team-up with Revan and do business, other than that, I just love him getting slapped all the time, Malgus and Ulic Qel-Droma. The last one is actually my second favorite character in all of SW universe, reason he is that low is predictable enough, he never was a perfect Sith, not in the way I mean it.

Bla bla bla, give me some time to think. I'll expand and enrich the list later.

About the Rule of Two though, you may doubt it's fruitfulness, nothing to argue there, but I just loved watching Bane forming the idea and managing it step-by-step.

I'm not particularly fond of Malgus or Sidious - just not gotten that much into them, I'm afraid (Sidious annoyed me, and I haven't had much time or ability to play TOR and read more about it), though I agree with most (not the part about Exar Kun, I like him more as a character) of what you have up there. Especially Nihilus.

Uggh, Nihilus. Suck the life off of an entire planet at your whim...

Of course, by that same logic, I like Vitiate too. Yeah, sue me, but he was cool. Sucked the life from an entire planet to bring him close to immortality, and then he's wanting to do it to the entire Galaxy...he's just one of those guys that only cares for the people under him for their ability to bring his goals closer to fruition, and he was strong enough to reign over them from the end of the Great Hyperspace War till the end of the Cold War.

And - I know you'll hate me for this - I do like Darth Bane quite a bit as well. Not because I like the Rule of Two particularly much - though it's a damn site better than Krayt's Rule of One if you ask me - but just because of freaking smart and powerful he was, to be able to single=handedly take down what was left of the Brotherhood o' Darkness, survive while fighting Jedi and training an Apprentice for years when he didn't (so far as I remember) have much of a disguise, and then very nearly transfer his consciousness to his apprentice. While you might think that's a failure, I'd consider it a success; his whole point in making the Rule of Two was to ensure that the Sith would remain strong and continue on through the ages, and his death proved that he had trained Zannah quite well.

oh man imagine if Nihilus and Vitiate got in a fight

Anyways, for the last one, I dunno if you'd really call him a "Sith Lord," but I actually do like Skere Kaan. He's an interesting character that, in my opinion, hasn't been developed enough...Though I think I also preferred looking at him as he was finishing his descent into insanity in Path of Destruction, rather than reading the stuff from the comics - the characterization was just a little different. But yeah, I want to know just what all he did to get all these other Sith to follow him, and everything, aside from just using Mind Tricks. That, and I'd also like to know how he was so good with using those, when he was rather weak-willed himself, supposedly.

It'll always be the Ancient Sith Lords that appeal to me. Marka Ragnos, and despite their differences, Sadow and Kressh were very powerful. It was these three that put the 'Lord' in Sith Lord. These guys, along with their achievements, also had that dark majesty to them, even if you never met them you could tell you were meeting a being of great power and majesty.

I also quite like Nihilus, there's always something appealing about a Dark side aberration that (literally) has Force-sensitives for breakfast. I can picture him ordering a padawan pie with a glass of Jedi juice.

"Oh, can I have a Miraluka steak, as well?"

"How would you like it?"

"Rare, please. Preferably so that I can see the look of pain on its face as it dies."

Why are the Sith the only thing that interest you about Star Wars?

As for content, I thought Bane was an interesting character because he was actually more than two-dimensional, unlike the vast majority of the Sith. The tragic way in which Count Dooku was used made me like him because of the moment where all his regal facade was stripped away moments before death, and Lord Khan's zealous devotion made for an intriguing plot device when it resulted in the deaths of many Sith and the near-destruction of Ruusan.

From what I know of Dooku, he was not a particularly tragic character... for one because he was not written enough to be so. Am I wrong?

I also find the Mandalorians interesting as well. What does it tell you about a warrior culture that has survived many millennia, long after the originals were ashes and dust? The history of the Jedi is also quite interesting; its is intriguing to watch how they developed on Tython from the Je'daii, to how they descended into cold and austere monasticism that pretty much put them out of touch with the people they were supposed to protect which made their annihilation much easier and then to Luke Skywalker's renaissance of Jedi way before Exar-Kun's fall to darkness.

Sorry for double-questions... but the way you phrased it made it out that you were saying Exar Kun fell to the Dark Side after Luke ran the Jedi?

No, no, he's using the "before Exar Kun's fall to darkness" as a descriptor for the "Jedi way." It's an adjectival phrase right there.

He wasn't really in the movie, but the Episode III novelization makes him more tragic.

Dooku seemed rather tragic in most of the novels in which he was shown. I liked the character.

Lumiya, because Sith Lords are a bunch of sexist ****s.

Sue me, but I was never fond of Lumiya. She seemed so two dimensional to me.

Darth Revan though. Went Dark Side, Light Side, then Dark Side. Straight boss if you ask me. He was mostly portrayed in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic the game. It was amazing.
