We bid you to welcome to the revolution comrade Marf. May we bring death to the proletariat and to the bourgeoisie!

I remember I was a moderate Libertarian with left-leaning but moderate economics about 10 years ago. Not sure what led to this shift.

Death to the proletariat? Aren't we supposed to be liberating them from the oppression of the bourgeoisie?

The proletariat is the ruling body that seeks to quell the individual...and my political beliefs are mostly anarchistic, so both are as bad as each other. I'm also a realist too, but that is a story for another time.

...what?

The proletariat are the working class who are meant to be liberated in a revolution. They are the ones who are exploited by the bourgeoisie, which is the ruling class.

Oh trust me, if you espouse even the slightest of conservative views in the Public Affairs subforum, you will quickly realize how isolated you are. Hence, I've learned to avoid it.

Communism is designed to remove individuality and replace it with Community. That personality cults are so dominant in it is confusing, but it's designed so that everyone is equal - in political power and in wealth.

Oh, I was just joking around... I thought Sin just made a typo or that he wasn't being serious.

Marfy does not do debates. :worried:

Really?

Have you read the Grundrisse? Marx's notes? Das Kapital? What about Lukacs? How does individuation and class consciousness form there? What about Luxemburg (who by the way broke with Lenin precisely for his antidemocratic bent when he purged the nerodniks)? Surely you'll tell me how David Harvey's synthesis of Sraffa and Ricardo's work (with a bent towards Marxian labor value theory) is a leftist plot to destroy the individual? Althusser (one of my favorite Marxists) was possibly one of the fiercest individualists in the history of thought. I am certain Gramsci and Adorno (the former was of course imprisoned by a right-wing fascist) would be very much surprised to know that their goal was cult of personality and totalitarianism.

Marxism is a large body of thought with right-wing and authoritarian currents (see: Stalinism); and you seem to have little working knowledge of what Communism (or to be more fundamental in our praxis and doxa: Marxism) is.

I am sorry you are not among the like-minded. Truly I am. My professional acquaintances are overwhelmingly American liberals (right-wing) and other handmaidens and foundlings of neoliberal capitalism. So I can understand avoiding discussions like that in the workplace (there is of course, a Marxian critique somewhere there.)

But there have been champions of unreconstructed Thatcherism here. There have been Pinochetista paladins here. Hell, there have even been apologists for the British Empire on this site. Some were fiercer and more adept than others. None did I find particularly convincing, but they were always met with the sort of vigorous debate that to my mind is at least as much a mark of respect as a listless audience.

Dogpiling, etc. are rare and frowned on. It's a passionate arena, but the structural impediments to a right-wing view are neither as concrete nor as pervasive here as the self-same obstacles to left-wing views in the "real world."

I am afraid I cannot pass on my sympathies, but I wish you luck with your reactionary views!
