You can't possibly be a socialist and be a member of the Democratic Party.

Moderate socialist.

It is also the closest without being an independent or something of that sort, I want to vote in the primaries and such.

You can't be a socialist and be in the democratic party.

Right leaning libertarian. At least by the standards of 2010 in America. Anywhere else, I could be anything from a right wing nut job to an authoritarian tyrant to a left wing looney.

You can't possibly be a socialist and be a member of the Democratic Party.

Why not? They've got all sorts of people in their ranks.

I don't follow politics.
I also don't vote.

When politics start speaking to me I'll be contemplating mass murder. :CStern:

Point is that it affects your life whether or not you participate in it. In other words, you can either have some minor control over the outcome of your life, legally of course, (no matter how insignificant it may seem) or you can have none at all.

And, because this is a Star Wars forum, I shall use a quote from a star wars game!

Way to narrow it down not at all.

The fact that you care makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :CHappy:

I support the Tea Partiers, so I guess I'm a radical right wing nut job. I think the government is waaaaay to big and I want less government control in America. I support the right to bear arms. I don't support abortion. I don't support homosexual marriage.

I dunno what all that makes me, but yeah, I'm conservative.

So you want less government control but you're ok with the government deciding who gets to marry who and what happens with pregnant women?

I never reveal my beliefs about the abortion debate, but I do agree with gay marriage.

However, I will just saying this to troll but.......

You could totally flip that around and say: less government control means they cannot define the inclusiveness of a religious practice and of course if you believe in life at conception... well thats self explanitory in terms of government control.

Except gays aren't fighting to get married in catholic churches, but court buildings.

It's called civil marriage. Look it up.

What about the choice of the woman?

I'm using marriage as a symbolism, to troll you here, because thats really the only way they have an argument. I don't see how they could disagree with the same tax benefits etc of marriage for gays but under a different name or ritual or whatever.

Before you go all hostile on this next response, just realize I have yet to take a side on the abortion debate...

What about the choice of the woman? According to the belief of life beginning at conception, it holds about as little ground as saying you have the right to end a family member that relies on you.

Part of the reason why assuming one side is "correct" it makes the other side seem completely ridiculous. Which is why I feel the abortion debate is so trivial and haven't made up my own mind about it yet.

I don't feel like having an argument then, sorry.

First of all, killing an unborn fetus is not the equivalent of killing a person. A fatus lacks rationality, autonomy, and self-consciousness. If you want to compare, it's more like squashing a bug. I don't really care about the argument that says that it has the potential to be a human being, because most of the time, it's just a waste of a human being. Most people who want to get an abortion are poor and do not have the means to raise a child. No child is better than what I would classify as a potential criminal.

Secondly, I think that the well-being of the woman should come before the well-being of the fetus. It is her body after all, and she should have the right to decide what stays there. This can easily be justified on utilitarian grounds; the woman is a person, the child is not. Therefore, her preferennce comes first.

Thirdly, it's just simple logic. Making abortion illegal doesn't make abortions disappear. They'll simply use coat-hangers instead, and that's just disgusting.
