YUTUSKI STRATO-HOPLITE ARMOR​

Yutuski Strato-Hoplite Armor is the gear which war worn by an elite force of aerial infantry which hailed from the planet Yutusk during the age of Xim the Despot. After Yutusk was absorbed by Xim's empire, Xim - impressed by the ferocity of the elite Yutuski rocket-jumpers - commissioned the survivors into his army. During the years of Xim's expansion throughout the Tion Cluster, the Strato-Hoplites were often the spearheads of planetary invasions, dropping on enemy fortifications and neutralizing them ahead of the landing barges. As befitted their elite status, their gear was similarly impressive; they wore ionic mail vests and helmets fashioned of kiirium, capable of turning most energy weapons of the day, and were equipped with Bordhell-type fuel slug rocket packs. They were typically armed with a pair of heatbeam pistols, although officers typically carried a vibrosaber in addition to these.

Of note, the controls for the jet pack are located on the front of the torso of the Strato-Hoplite armor. Although armored similarly to the rest of the torso, they are still somewhat cumbersome to use compared to modern controls. Nevertheless, it is possible to grow quite proficient with them,

In the present day, genuine Strato-Hoplite armor is nearly impossible to find. Some Tionese royal houses and governments issue reproductions to ceremonial guards. Although the armor and weapons of the antique original versions are badly obsolete, the modern interpretations use contemporary materials and technology, making them at least decent for genuine protection.​

LEGALITY​

Yutuski Strato-Hoplite Armor is largely regulated in regards to its value as an antique, rather than as military equipment. Thus, it is legal to own on most worlds, although wearing it in public would be considered odd at best.​

INTENT​

To expand the selection of Xim-era antiques, and to create an alternate pattern for rocket trooper armor.​

RESTRICTIONS​

Genuine Yutuski Strato-Hoplite Armor is extremely rare in the present day, and thus, quite expensive and difficult to come by. Fake or honest reproduction gear is easier to get, but not nearly as desirable. Genuine gear would require an in-character justification for possession.​

• Head: Full helmet with flip-down visor.
• Torso: Chest area and lower torso.
• Back: Back area covered by rocket pack.

FUNCTIONS

FUNCTION 1: Jet Pack.

• Jet packs are back mounted units used by elite troops increase their mobility on the battlefield. The jet pack's maximum speed is 50 kph and it carries fuel for up to five minutes of continuous flight (flight mode), but can also be fired in short bursts triggered by jumping (combat mode). The wearer can control the system to switch between modes and/or disengage it from their armor via wrist controls. These packs are cumbersome, adding an additional 8kg for the average human (larger individuals will have heavier jet packs to support their weight). While the fuel is stable enough not to explode, direct hits from weapons can trigger the system inadvertently, after which it is rendered useless.
