PERSONALITY:
To most, Zara appears to be a quiet, stoic person and she likes it that way. Believing that letting your emotions freely show is a sign of being weak and uncontrolled, she does her best to restrain herself, which causes to her to come across as cold or apathetic. When she does show emotion, it is usually subtle and purposeful, with a twitch of the corner of her mouth, a gentle brow furrow, or a dry tone. She also does not let her emotions dictate her actions. This means that while she may make impulsive decisions, they are usually based on instinct and training, not passion, grief, or other strong feelings.

However, Zara still has many strong emotions hidden behind her visor. While she is a caring person, her compassion usually comes in the form of awkward words of encouragement or blunt advice. Generosity also comes naturally to her. She hardly thinks about it before offering anyone the food in her hands, the credits in her pocket or the boots on her feet. In her mind, these aren’t grand gestures but simply what you should do for others. Her loyalty and her word mean very much to her. With that in mind, she is careful about who she befriends and what causes she swears herself to. The faith she has put into the few people she trusts boarders on stupidity. While she does not hold others to as high standards as she holds herself to, she does expect the best of them always and is surprised when they do not, or cannot, live up to that.

Zara’s pride is deceptively fragile. She very much wants to be admired, and for her story to be remembered like the heroes of old. In the meantime, she settles for the praise of those around her, always checking before taking a trick shot or jumping off a wall. When insulted, she becomes moody and distant. Criticisms she takes personally, though she tries not to let it show, and she uses them to berate herself for days afterwards.

One of Zara’s greatest strengths and skills, and a core part of her personality is her unwavering resolve. She will sit in cover, watching through a scope until her legs go numb and her eyesight blurs. She gets back up in a fight until she is knocked unconscious. Very little comes easy to Zara, she is not particularly smart or talented, and she has worked hard for everything she has accomplished.

BIOGRAPHY:
Zara Zhett grew up on an insignificant planet in contested territory that was often the backdrop for small skirmished between Alliance and Imperial forces. She lived with her mother, who worked repairing data pads and the likes, and older brother lived in a small apartment in a spaceport. Her father had abandoned their family when she was very young. She didn’t think about him much. However, she had good relationships with her mother and brother, but especially with her brother, Leo. He watched after her while mom was locked inside her workspace, trying to fix up enough junk to buy the next week’s food, and told her stories about epic battles, fearsome enemies, and the heroes that defeated them. When she was nine years old, her bother left to fight and die for the Alliance. A few months later, her mother was killed in a Sith raid. Since then, a seed of hatred has grown inside Zara against the Alliance that couldn’t protect her family.

For the next five years, Zara mostly lived on her own. Sometimes she would stay with a friend’s family, but she hated feeling like a burden on them and would often leave silently in the middle of the night. At eleven, she was attacked by a group of older street children and almost died. A week later, she got her first blaster and practiced jumping onto roofs so that it could never happen again. In the early days of this she learned that bounty hunters and mercenaries would often pay people like her, silent and ignored eyes that saw everything, for information on a particular mark. One day, it was a Mandalorian bounty hunter, the first one she had met outside one of her brother’s stories. He was awe inspiring in his gleaming armor, a vibroblade on his hip. He gave her more credits than she’d seen in a long time and asked her to help him track the mark down.

For the first time in her life, Zara wasn’t a child to be protected, or a beggar to be tossed a few microcreds, but an actual part in an adventure. She showed him all her secret spots, where the locals gathered, and where strangers met. Once they had captured the mark, the Mandalorian gave her a pat on the head and left. She stood in silence and watched until his ship disappeared beyond the atmosphere.

But that wasn’t the end. A few weeks later a man that made her heart leap when she recognized him and a woman she didn’t know. The Mandalorian and his wife. They asked if she wanted to be a part of a family and if she wanted to join theirs. At fourteen, on the streets of a rundown spaceport, on a nowhere planet, Zara Zhett was adopted into the Mandalorians, and she has spent the last five years training to be worthy of that honor.

It was clear from the beginning of her life as a Mandalorian that she had a lot of work to do, but her parents were patient. Her father was a kind, good humored man and he often took her on jobs. From him, she learned the finer points of shooting, though to his frustration, she shied away from close combat. Her mother was more reserved, but was also better at teaching, and it was from her that Zara learned the most important parts of being a Mando. Zara loves them both very much, and often feels ashamed, as if she has let them down, because she has yet to take her verd'goten and become a full member of the society.

When the opportunity came to join the Mando Cabure, Zara's parents strongly encouraged her to join and continue her training with the Protectors. A little drunk on the promise of glory and the chance to give back to her people, the young girl did so without second thought. Although she misses her parents very much she feels as if she is in the right place and is eager to protect, serve, and make her mark on the galaxy in these hard times.

She looks like she would be a good fit for the Protectors. We need more girls. It's kind of a boys club.

When she's done, I think she and Oyariyu (My Mando) should do a roleplay together. It would be cool, considering Oyariyu's a big lady's man.

Yeah? The Protectors are definitely something she'd be interested in, though I wonder if she could survive the Blooding. Failure could be interesting.

And I would love to get a thread on with Oyariyu. Zara is pretty easily impressed, she'd probably listen to his stories in complete awe.

A great start. I'd like to see the gear section outlined eventually, but that's not entirely necessary unless you plan on engaging in some serious PvP anytime soon. Did she undergo her verd'goten (warrior trial/rite of passage) after she was adopted and trained? If so, could you include that in the biography? If you need help, just shoot me a PM.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm considering building up a clan of my own. If you'd be interested in that, I'll gladly fill you in.

I say it again but: I like this character!

I think it would be fun for Zara and Sora to have some adventures together.
They also have a few things in common both in personality and story.
Anyway, I might even read your threads for the fun since your writing is nice to read. ^^

I feel I should also add that i purposefully left the part about her adoption rather vague. I LOVE the dynamics of family RPs, so if any Mando is interested in an adopted daughter, lemme know and I'll edit it to fit :)

A little bit. I still like the idea of the Protectors, but I'm not sure how it would work since I've made her a ge'vard. I was also talking to Gavin about an idea that he had.

Well, that's how every protector starts. There's a training regiment which we'd be happy to go through with you, and then the blooding, which is our ritual for becoming a warrior. It's a much more traditional system and I talk about in the Blooding thread.

Forgive me if I'm being dense >.< How does the clan/protector thing work out? I understand that Protectors put the Mandalorians as a whole before clan, but are they still active in their clan?

You can be. But the Protector's loyalty is to the Protectors first. And a loyalty to the Protectors is a loyalty to the Mandalorian People. That means we're above all the petty conflicts in between clans. Protectors are there to keep the Mandalorians alive, through all our different means. The Protectors are basically the Mandalorian cops, mixed with judge, jury, executioner, teacher, warrior, hunter, and vod. Even if the Protectors are disbanded, if called upon, they are there to fight.

Also, you get bitchin' black armor.

Edit: you can also find any training you'd like in the Protectors. Because of our role in the clans and our recruitment techniques, if one Protector can't teach you something, they'll find one that can.
