Chester had been caught off by the aura that permeated the world of Ossus. Unlike his homeworld of Kluistar, the air was light, brisk, and reflected the serene feel of the people that dwelt on Ossus. It surprised him. It was as though the threat and chaos of the rest of the galaxy were lost in this place. Passing by several grassy fields, he approached his destination; the Ossus Jedi Academy.

The Jedi Order had requested that he come to Ossus, apparently for Jedi training. He had been dropped off by a small Republic freighter several miles from the Jedi Enclave, and had to trek through the plains and estuaries of Ossus in his hike towards the Enclave.

He was rather unsure of what he was to expect. He hadn't been formerly introduced to his Master, nor had he learned his Master's name. But he desired to become a Jedi, if only to avenge his brother's death at the hands of the Alsakans. Moving his oaken-brown hair away from his eyes, he walked into the large courtyard and took a seat at an empty bench. Taking a deep breath, he dropped his satchel and glanced around at the hustle and bustle that took place in the courtyard, waiting for his Master to arrive.

Vizza got out of his room. He was told that his padawan had arrived at a nearby space port, on a Republican freighter, and Vizza calculated he would be arriving at any time now. As any student, he had a file, and Vizza would be able to recognize him from the basic description and picture. Chester Ducere was the name. Walking down the corridors, Vizza finally reached the temple's entrance, and sitting down, he put up his hood, put on a sash covering his eyes, and waited to see his padawan, who would arrive any minute now.

As he sat, his padawan indeed arrived...Vizza's eyes, closed under the sash, would not give away to the young man that he was being observed...but he was. Using the Force to see for his eyes, Vizza watched as the padawan walked in, and getting up slowly, he followed from a distance. As he did, he tried to pick impressions of his padawan, since he had read his background on his file...nothing too bad seemed to be going on...nothing that could not be eased.

Aproaching Chester, who sat at a bench, Vizza put a hand on his shoulder. "Hello, Chester, I am Vizza Mander, the Knight who'll be in charge of your training. Welcome to the Temple." Vizza smiled reassuring, attempting to ease the padawan, who looked slightly troubled.

Chester had continued to glance around the courtyard when he was approached by a hooded being, revealing nothing. Though Chester had been mentally prepared for his Master to arrive, he was still a bit jumpy from the ride over here. So he was naturally startled when the cloaked figure he hadn't taken note of approached him and set his hand upon Chester's shoulder.

Though as soon as the cloaked figure explained that he would be the Jedi Knight in charge of his Jedi training, Chester calmed himself and hoped he hadn't made an awkward first impression. Brushing his long hair out of his eyes, again, he was unsure whether to bow or simply shake his hand. Why am I so nervous, wondered Chester, slightly annoyed at his own panicked attitude.

He turned toward his new Master, and just from under his hood, Chester could make out a comforting smile directed at him. That was all that was needed to calm his nerves, and he nodded slowly and replied, eagerly.

"Thank you, Master Mander. Or would you prefer Master Vizza? Regardless, thank you for taking me on as your Padawan learner, you won't regret it." Chester sighed as he finally spewed out the words his mind had been telling him to. As he had replied, he noted that from the features of his lower jaw, he didn't seem quite human, so he wondered what species his new master was. Nevertheless, he ignored the thought and bit his lip, waiting for his master to respond.

Vizza noticed his padawan getting startled, but his smile seemed to have worked on easing the padawan's nervousism; his smile was very good at that, mostly. But is eagerness could e troublesome, in time... "Take it easy, young one. You have a life time to live, and you should take on every moment one at a time...about titles...I don't know if "Master Mander" or "Master Vizza" is good....so just call me Vizza. Nice to meet you, Chester." Vizza passed his left hand underneath the hood, taking it off, revealing his Zabrak features. His horns, bald head, and facial tattoos. He had taken off his sash long before meeting with his padawan, and looking at his padawan's eyes were two bright purple iris. Stucking out his right hand, Vizza waited to shake his padawan's hand.

Chester shook his Master's hand, and attempted calmed himself. He's right, no reason for me to get all jumpy. Before he continued, he took a deep breath and talked with his master. "My apologizes, Ma... Vizza." He decided to get used to addressing him as he requested. I'll try to calm myself. It must be the ride over here, it was nerve-racking. Though he wasn't startled at his master's origins, he was startled by Vizza's unique purple eyes, even though he hadn't visibly showed his surprise to his master.

Glancing at the temple for a brief moment, he decided to ask his master the first of many questions to come. "Should we stay here in the courtyard? Or would you rather go somewhere else?"

Vizza liked it. It had been many years since he was called by his first name, ever since he was a young padawan, not older then Chester. "Well, good that you ask that, c'mon, I'll show you to your new quarters." Vizza motioned with his hand to Chester to follow him. On the way to the padawan's quarters, Vizza proceeded with one of his many routine questions, so he could learn what the padawan thought about himself. "I'd like to know you better...tell me a little about yourself, if you don't mind."

As he walked, he was listening, rather intently, to the Jedi and soldiers that he passed by. Following Vizza to his new quarters, he was intrigued by everything that happened around him.

When his master had asked Chester to share a bit about himself, he replied after thinking for a moment, "Well, I'm native to Kluistar. I had an older brother who joined the Republic military several years after I was born. I stuck around, and learned to hunt and track and the like. And I routinely went out hunting several times a week, to get food for my family." he paused before continuing on. "Then we heard the news of my brother's death. I remember that day very vividly, even though it was nearly two months ago. I wandered into the forest, trying to collect my thoughts, when I was attacked by a wild hound. I would've died if not for my father and the Republic soldier that had given us the news."

Chester reflected on everything he had just said, following his master intently. Wrapping up his tale, he finished, "That's why I am here, Vizza. I want to learn the ways of the Force to avenge my brother.

Vizza heard is story carefully...and got the answer he was looking for. He was seeking vengance...this might look troublesome. "Is that so? Vengance...that's tricky. Do you know exactly who is this person who killed your brother?" Vizza wasn't sure how to turn this, but he was confident that perhaps, with time, he would work a solution.

After his master had responded to his story, Chester discerned that Vizza didn't seem too pleased about his quest for vengeance. However, he didn't feel like arguing with his master about the justifications for his actions. That would be rude, and he didn't feel like upsetting his new master. Instead, he simply responded to his question. "Well, no. The Republic soldier who gave the report told us that he had been killed during a dogfight with Alsakan starfighters. To be honest, I haven't looked at the actual report myself..."

He calmed himself, not wanting to begin a long rant or adding unnecessary details, so he continued, Vengeance is a tricky thing. However, I think that with the power of the Jedi, I'll be able to carefully keep my emotions and any darkness I have in check, regardless of who I face in combat."

Vizza heard his padawan, and he sounded pretty sure of himself. For the time being, Vizza would let it sink, but he would try and figure out a way to at least ease his padawan's thrist for vengance. Upon arriving to the room, Vizza reached for the door knob, and opened it. "We're here." Vizza entered...all the rooms looked the same, except for small items members fashioned their rooms with...memories, from missions and people. "I'll let you settle in, meet me back in the west gardens in ten or fifteen minutes." Closiong the door behind him, Vizza left.

On the gardens, Vizza followed his ritual...sitting in the grass, on a circle of stones, Vizza let the Force flow throughout the garden, while he used Force Sight. He sat there, apperantly meditating, while he actually kept in check any movement around him.

His master left the room, apparently to head to the west gardens. Chester glanced around his bare room, sighing at its simplicity. Dumping his change of clothes, rations and water canteen from his satchel, he made sure to carefully place the kolto patch on the ground next to them. Spinning his slugthrower in his hand, he figured he had some time to kill, so he headed for the refresher.

I don't remember the last time I've hit the sonic, thought Chester. Quickly slipping out of his clothes in the refresher, he took a quick sonic shower, slipped into his new pair of clothes, and headed back to his quarters. Leaving his old clothes on the ground in his room, he checked the small chrono on his wrist; it had been ten minutes.

Combing his hair, he dashed toward the western gardens. Though he had little clue where they were, he simply figured out which direction was west and ran all the way down the narrowing halls of the Great Temple until he found his way out. Seeing the door outside, he slowed himself to a brisk walk, and opened the door to gardens. Standing in the doorway, he saw at his master meditating in a circle of stones. Got here on time, thought Chester. I'll be careful not to break his meditation. Approaching his master, he sat down beside him in the garden, staring at the Ossus sky.

Vizza raised his finger. "Whenever I am in this position, you should seek to disturb me. You never know when I might be sleeping...I know of a messanger who stood near me for nearly half an hour, becuase I can remain this still while sleeping...though it gives me backhackes like hell..." Vizza opened his eyes, smiling. "So, are you ready to start your first lesson as a Padawan?"

Chester chuckled at his master laid-back attitude. Oh course, Vizza. I wouldn't want to be waiting here forever just to learn to use a lightsaber." Pausing, he took a deep breath, calming himself.

"In all seriousness, yes, I am ready to begin my first lesson as a Jedi Padawan."

Upon Chester's comment, Vizza raised a non existing eyebrow. "So, to you, the Padawan training is about learning how to use a Lightsaber, eh?" Vizza was not surprised; most padawans would grow to become fascinated with the wonders of the lightsabers, but it was the first time he seemed to get that would become a Jedi Guardian...

"Yes, is the lightsaber not the weapon of the Jedi? It seems only natural that Padawan training would revolve around it." Though Chester had seen several Jedi in his day and took note of their lightsabers, he had never truly understood the concept of the Force.

"You're the teacher, though, Vizza. So whatever you think I should learn first, shall be what I learn first. Don't think I'm planning your lessons." smiling, he brushed the grass off his shirt and wondered why his master had asked him that particular question.

Vizza smiled. "So, you would rather use a lightsaber as a weapon rather then a tool...interesting, indeed. But a Jedi is not only about lightsabers, is it? What do you understand of the Force?"

Chester bit his lip as his Master asked him about the Force. He had never been familiar with the mystical energy that the Jedi had used, and though he was sure he was Force-sensitive, he had never attempted to summon its power. Pondering, Chester responded as honestly as he could.

"Well, Master. I believe that the Force is a form of energy that flows through a Jedi and gives them their power. Without it, the Jedi would be no different from regular sentients. I also know that you can bend it to your will and manipulate it to create some telekinetic attacks."

Though he was worried that this answer would worry or upset his Master, he kept silent and waited for his response.

"The wonders of theoric knowledge...tell me, which of those can you use or take advantadge of?" His padawan seemed to shape himself more and more into a Jedi Guardian than any other class...though, even as a Guardian, he would require knowledge in certain fields of the Force.

He pondered for a moment. He was sure he his Master was getting somewhere was this line of questioning, but he couldn't figure out what it was.

Regardless, he thought for a moment about the numerous Force skills of the Jedi and he decided that it was as good a time as any to test out his Force-sensitivity.

"Well, I could probably move some rocks around with my mind if I tried, though I must admit, I've never called upon the Force, so I haven't the slightest clue what I'm capable of."

Interesitng...never called upon the Force to aid him... "Well, then we should get started on it, don't you think!?" Vizza held out a hand, and touching the Force, he made a small rock float towards the middle of the circle both Jedis were on, and then, making it halt, the rock started to spin, then fell right in front of Chester. "I want you to reach out to the Force. Atempting to move a rock with your mind."
