And that is precisely why I think not having it is an advantage :). People overestimate the force and underestimate people without it.
The force is a crutch that makes Sith and Jedi believe they're superior to those without it.

@Caine i don't mean to sound arrogant but the force really will make the fight one sided if the force user is strong enough. That's just sadly the reality of this site

A non FU CAN beat a FU. It just requires a lot of creativity and tools on the part of the writer. Tech helps to balance things a little, but FU still have a distinct advantage.

Since I am making a senator I will be rolling BA as well... most likely. I am thinking about creating a character who spends his time as a senator for his planet. He is a retired soldier as well. Something happens because of the war that forces him out of retirement. So he will spend part time in the senate and part time as a soldier. I'm think age wise early to mid 50s.

The force won't save you if you step on a land mine and a lightsaber won't deflect a rocket. Nobody is invincible no matter how powerful in the force they may or may not be it's just a matter of creativity.

Order 66 proved that the Jedi danger sense is not flawless which means you can be lead into a trap and you can be caught by surprise even with the force and most importantly, force users still bleed and if you can bleed you can be killed.

Okay so can we just have a role call can people please list what "Type" of style or field you character will fall under?

For example Pilot, bomb specialist, officer, grunt, normal soldier, medic, etc...

Just for an official record of sorts. I myself plan on making a normal grunt soldier. Just a regular Joe. Then I think I will explore him further, maybe make him some special forces type. Maybe sniper. Or give him a command position.

I am assuming Serenno would be Boarder Alliance since it is outer rim and it makes sense that the planet would have been apart of the Galactic Republic going back a long time since they are aristocratic. I plan to play a Senator of the aforementioned planet, so if it turns out to be BA I would be involved in the BA.

I'm thinking of making a combat medic type character. He may not be the best shoot but he will do what he can to fight and protect his comrades.

Might be cool to get like a full squad together in the BA. IE

Leader
Gunner
Demolition
Medic
Sniper

Ya that'd be cool. But what about having three PC's lead in their own NPC squads?

Well me and Jira both want to lead squadrons and in time move up to our own ships, I know for sure I want to get the biggest carrier warship I can acquire to allow me to drop into Sith territory and unleash a huge wave of fighters and bombers then vanish away again.

But my character will be infantry trained as well so he can work with you.

I'm planning on making a naval officer for the BA, not yet sure what species he will be though. Thinking of using and "canonizing" the Cha'a species.

I think either or to be honest. Just thinkin maybe having majority of the PC character closer together will help make the BA work better. A bit like the defiance armada.

Guarantee I could probably beat 75% of the Force-users on this site in one of these PvP duels. When you strip away all the my powers this and my powers that bullshit that ends up happening, the writing itself has been pretty zZzZzZzZzZzZz... It's pretty typical for roleplaying sites across the board though, regardless of the verse. People get so bent on winning that they forget that they're telling a collaborative story with someone else.

Yes the Force is a powerful thing, but typically having to be within 4 meters of your opponent is a huge disadvantage. There are lots of ways to out maneuver our Force-using friends with just your average blaster rifle and thermal detonators. Combat in roleplaying is a fickle thing, there has to be good synergy between the writers that are about to have their characters duke it out. There are a lot of ways to make it cool fun and interesting. Dice rolls are a cool way to make things random if that's your thing. I don't particularly like it, but I do use a dice system in some of my writing from time to time when I can't make a decision about something. You can also use dice rolls to determine varying degrees of good and bad based on the decisions you've already made. Like, I've decided my characters aren't going to get buried beneath this falling avalanche, but I might roll the dice to see if they make it out unscathed or if they are hurt in some way. You can also discuss a predetermined outcome with your co-writer. This is where you talk about things like death and serious injuries and how you feel about them before it gets to that point in the RP and everything is halted because now you have to have a week long debate about shit that should've been discussed prior to commencement of the RP itself.

Anyway... I digress. This site has rules, you must follow if you want to jump into RP at random with strangers all the time. That's not my thing. Haven't really had many good experiences doing things that way without talking things out prior to, especially if fighting and combat was involved. So if you engage with people before hand these rules about how things are here and how things are being done are usually waived and take a back seat to the members of the site enjoying themselves while they roleplay. Unless, of course, it's a site sanctioned event then the site rules will obviously be adhered to pretty strictly.

---

As far as the talk about the Senate goes. I think everyone has the wrong impression of the Senate. The Senate isn't the Senate as you've ever seen it before in Star Wars. It's a new ordeal with this next timeline. The staff has told us that they don't have a military force backing them. The Senate is mostly a trade union or trade alliance between various planets, systems, and corporations that are working together to make trading more accessible for their respective planets. They probably vote on a lot of trade laws and regulations and probably have a lot to do with trade routes and travel. Otherwise, the Senate isn't going to make or break the Border Alliance. The Border Alliance will be formed out of necessity regardless. The planets will come together to fight a common enemy and you'll have people coming from other worlds to try and help for various reasons. Ultimately, it would be nice for the Senate and The Border Alliance to go hand in hand and work together, but that might not be the case. I know my Senator will be a huge proponent of The Border Alliance and will actually be quite vocal about the establishment of a Republic Military.

I think I should come out and say it. I know I have before but I think all y'all should know this.

I have never watched the Star wars movies. Or read any comics. Or seen the two shows they have out there, The Clone wars and Rebels. Nor have I pretty much done any other thing revolving around star wars. My only star wars experience is this website, before this it was totally new. I mean of course I heard about it, my names Luke and I got countless "Luke I am your father" Jokes. But ya I have never really don starwars before this.

And what I do know, is from me browsing these forums and wookiepedia.

No worries Bossman, honestly most of the time with RP forums you don't need to know the setting all that well to play in it. I've been in RP's for Game of Thrones, Act's of Caine, Malazan book of the fallen, Naruto, a few made up settings and this and the only actual difference between them is the fluff you can get by on minimal knowledge and looking things up easily enough.

As for the force, every one of the settings I played in had some special power that made you a special snowflake and superior to everyone else.
And without fail the special snowflakes always fell when somebody found a weakness and used it.

In Malazan where they had big flashy combat magic I did it myself by using shadow magic which nobody used because it's was too weak, until the moment I began hunting battle mages and they had no defense against me because for all there power they couldn't outfight me if I cut there throats from the shadows without them realizing I was there.

Naruto had Kekkei Genkai so everyone naturally took the most powerful ones, Sharingan and Byakugan mostly which was great for them, they could always see us coming. But didn't do them any good when our characters trained in speed to the point that even knowing what I was going to do they were too slow to do anything about it or we just hit them with moves that blinded them because they're eyes were so sensitive.

The force on here is no different, it's just one weapons out of the vast array that exist in this setting but most of the rest are ignored because people have the force and don't look any further.

The galaxy is at war because of the Sith, so good reason.

Idk if this is appropriate or not
but this reminds me of the rationale of some people despising every person of the Middle East due to the actions of al-Qaeda or ISIL
