Are you getting the Coruscant info from Wookieepedia? If so, the assumption there is that it was the Coruscant Jedi Temple that Pre Vizsla was referring to, but because it doesn't have to be we're fudging that bit of canon and saying it will be another Jedi Temple on another world. The Jedi will not be based on Coruscant or near the seat of the Republic's power.

The canon darksaber is around. It will be in the Jedi Temple. We fully intend to show the story of how the Mandalorians stole it.

In the new timeline I was informed that I could start as a Jedi Knight, which is not the case in this timeline, right? So, should bring up the character's story as a padawan or should I actually start as a padawan?

The "default" for the Jedi (and most Main factions I believe) is to start as a Knight. Basically, the goal is to avoid forcing the sometimes tedious nature of training, which can involve a lot of sparring or "classroom"-like learning. Those can be, as I said, tedious, and so it sounds like the admins want to avoid that. So most characters would start as Knights, or fully-equipped Jedi Crusaders ready for action, who would not necessarily require the oversight of a master.

That said, there will be Masters in the order who would direct missions and operations, and they would be the senior-most and more experienced members of the order.

Also, as you may have seen herein, you MAY start as a padawan if you wish. If you want that growth and training for your character, so be it. It looks like more than a handful of folks are spinning up padawans already, so there will be plenty.

My semi-noob advice for newcomers is to write as a padawan or a brand-new Knight (I'm doing the latter). Thus you can still learn the SWRP ropes (or get re-settled if you're returning), and let the old farts play the experienced Knights and Masters (*points at random people*).

With the actual knightly Jedi Knight, Padawan apprenticeships should unfold more like that of a squire. The "classroom" training to teach the fundamentals, then missions to learn on the job.

So it looks like I'm definitely joining the Jedi faction and I am certainly going to be involve in the theft of the Darksaber in some way...
Thank you everyone who took the time to answer my questions.

Now, I have to create my character... Haha.
If any of you are interested in helping me create my character (I could also give you some feedbacks on yours, hit me up on Skype [g4nd.0])

I would like your advice on my character. I have never been a huge reader and often find it easier for me to connect with a picture and develop a story in my head from the picture. I have been on the hunt the last few days for numerous pictures and came across this.

star%20wars%20energy%20lightsabers%20duel%20sith%20jedi%20artwork%201920x1200%20wallpaper_www.wallpaperhi.com_68.jpg

I am wondering a few things:
1) Would a weapon like this be aloud. (Baring in mind the character would be HEAVILY) Force based and aim to keep his/her distance in combat as much as possible. This isn't to say they would be a push over and would have another saber form dedicated to a much more vanilla saber variation.
2) Forms, which of the forms would best be used alongside this weapon. I believe my other form focus will be a duel wielding Djem So.
3) A Name for this unusual weapon? Lightsaber Polearm? Light Scythe?

Lastly what kind of near human species are there that have a generally long life span (Roughly 150+ years).

THANKS!

Whether it would be allowed or not I am not entirely sure but for arguments sake let us assume that it is. The sheer uniqueness of the blade itself would require a heavy usage of the force just to make sure your character doesn't hurt themselves. Now as to which form would be best with this style of weapon I can only think of one and that is Form VI Niman. The weapon is too long for proper usage of Forms I through V. You might be able to make an argument for Form VII Juyo if your character was more aggressive with type of weapon, but if (s)he is already force based and trying to keep his/her distance than it has to be Niman. The relaxed blade work of the style would compliment the length and uniqueness of this Lightspear and Niman is all about splitting focus between blade work and force powers.

As to the near human species...that will require some research but I will keep my eye out if work is slow today.

Couldn't of asked for a better set of answers if I tried. Appreciate it, I'm going to go on the assumption that it would be aloud as I cant see anything overpowered about the weapon itself, if anything it would be more of a hindrance. I'll start hashing away at the character.

I would take caution with the lightsaber. Since Kylo has come out, we see all kinds of weird stuff which, even in the Legends stuff, is rare. We don't want to get everyone wielding these:

I would have a backup plan for a more "normal" lightsaber (even a long/pole saber would be more normalized).

As for long-lifespan species, here is one: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Anzat_(species)

I hope that it does get approved, my head is swelling with the combat style I could produce with a weapon like that.
I have yet to see the force awakens however I am still not a huge fan of Kylo's weapon. I'm hoping to see the broadsword style come in use and not be wasted at least.

Wait, so if you don't like Kylo's weapon, what makes your polearm quad-blade appealing? Sorry, just trying to understand.

I just didn't see it as a useful adaptation to a weapon that had worked perfectly fine for thousands of years. The weapon I have a interest in although bizarre has use for what indescribed, in order to preserve distance from an opponent. It's 3 prongs at the top also totally changed the way people would need to defend against regular Saber Pikes/Staffs.

I guess everyone has a personal preference, I like blondes but not all blondes some of them just don't fit what I'm looking for.

Eh, it's a snowflake-y weapon with some interesting fight-characteristics. If you're hella clever, there's some rather dangerous things you could do with it.

That said, I saw that someone posted a Kylo Ren ridiculous saber above.

Sirs, I take your RidiculoSaber and raise your a LIGHTSABER CHAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINSSSSSSSSSSSSSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW!

That said,

what do you guys think about the Jedi and the Republic's relationship? How would the Jedi be peacekeepers if...say...the Senate says that they can't. Jedi would be considered regular ol' citizens at best...and religious and fanatical vigilantes at worst.

I see what you're saying, but I don't think the Jedi would necessarily care. Seeing as how the Senate and the Order of the Jedi are entirely separate entities existing in the galaxy during this timeline, I doubt the Jedi would really even bat an eye if the Senate attempted to impose such a restriction.

So your vision of the Jedi are vigilantes who don't give a damn about the establishment?

Bold, sir. Very bold.

And what happens if the Republic should turn on the Jedi?

Join the Sith and take over the galaxy.

But seeing as how peacekeeping is (presumably) at the core of what it means to be a Jedi then the only option left, besides disbanding altogether, would be to protest such a foolhardy move by the Senate. Or just ignore it outright, although that might not be the most logical of decisions as you pointed out.

The issues I have with this weapon abound, so bear with me. It will come across as harsh:
- Scythes have never been an actual weapon choice unless you are peasant militia. This thing is a pretty utaku-y lightsaber design with very little practical application.
- The sheer number of grip changes you would need to do are laughable to make this thing work beyond parade use. The wielder would be more focused on where their own blades are rather than that of the enemy.
- Too large of a weak point. Unless the shaft is made of phrik, you'll be replacing that thing often. If an enemy gets in close, you are boned. If you are fighting another FU, they have a chance to resist your Force attacks. The Inquisitor spinny-whoosh-whoosh sabers and Kylo's crossguard saber are infinitely more practical.
- Blasters become a problem.
- If you want a polearm lightsaber, do a spear or glaive type of weapon. There is more variety and you can actually fight indoors, unlike with this thing. Think naginata, nodachi, yari, or halberd. Hell, remove the bottom saber and halve the shaft on that thing and it becomes far more practical.
- Currently, it feels like this is a weapon you want so your character can stand out in a crowd and be a special snowflake. The weapon does not make the warrior, though. Many a knight in history spent their life's wages to look scary and flashy and they got put in the ground by a peasant's pitchfork all the same.

I have a feeling that the Jedi would be viewed much like the Teutonic Order was. They were [mostly] autonomous and basically acted with [near] impunity so long as they [appeared to] fulfill the creed and dictations of their doctrine. Depending on who you are, they'll be the reliable friend or the volatile powderkeg.
