Shane went to his usual viewing position by the tree to watch Krysta mop up the last few targets. This probably wouldn't take long but Shane would then need to explain their next exercise.

She smiled delightedly to herself, biting hr lip with happiness once she had hit all the targets - all of them! And with Shane there. She hoped he was pleased with her. She lowered the carbine and turned to him, blushing with pleasure and expectancy.

"Excellent! Really great work, Krysta. It would seem I made a extraordinary soldier out of you. Now begins the next exercise. I will go into that forrest over there and find a nice place to hide. You, however, will stay here until you see a flare launched into the sky signaling that you should come after me. You will track me until you find me and you will attempt to knock me unconcious. Any questions?"

"Knock you out? I might as well try that zakkeg again," she said, a bit daunted by the task. Finding him, she could do. It might take a while, but she could do it, her Dad had taught her that kind of thing. She was, however, worried about how she was going to knock him out. I mean he was... well, look at him! And she'd already [attempted] to fight with him. She would need a... stun gun. Oh, yeah. Okay. "But I can try," she said, with a bit more determination.

"Blasters will be set to stun. So all you really need to do is shoot me or chucka rock at my head. To make this easier on you I am leaving behind my equipment and helmet in favor of this training rifle. I will be attempting to also knock you unconcious and if I do we will jsut come back out here tommorow and do it all over again."

Shane shoulered the training rifle and picked up a flare gun. Turning back to Krysta he nodded before heading of into the woods.

"You are one of the best soldiers I have ever trained. I have no doubt you will succeed."

With that Shane took off into the woods. One thing he noticed right away was that the sun was just about to touch a heavy string of cluds. This would be interesting to see how Krysta could act to the light change in the forrest.

OOC: just say you waited and saw the flare. Then begin lookin for me.

You could see Krysta's heart rise at his comment, however hyperbolic she as sure it was - she was delighted. She didn't say anything back for fear something stupid would come out, but, still, she wanted him to know she was pleased - but not too pleased! She didn't want to be seen as... flighty. She was sure she wasn't, but she didn't want him to think that.

As he walked away, she said, "Okay," a bit apprehensively. After all, she was having to complete this against someone who was practically a commando, but she would give it a shot.

As she waited, she sat against a nearby tree, eyes never leaving the forest. While she waited, she worked on configuring her helmet, as her last mission had taught her something about its use, and it proved to be an awful useful gadget. She set it so that it would pinpoint the distance between her and wherever the flare (which, she supposed, would send off heat), and the direction it was. Kind of like a rough two-dimentional GPS. She would need it, tracking was terribly difficult during and after rain: it messed up footprints and telltale marks. She was sure he wouldn't be at the point the helmet would indicate, but it would show about where he started, and that would be something. She would just have to move as fast as she could to the point to keep the trail as fresh as possible.

There! a red firecracker.

Fortunately, she remembered to be wearing her helmet at the time, she usually forgot details like that and would have had to dive into the forest with only her sense of direction. However, she was dismayed at the large area her helmet gave her to start in.

This was going to be a long day.

Shane was a tough guy but he still gave into the simple irritation of not having his helmet to guard his face from the slapping branches that sometimes came at his face. He had put the flare gun on his belt and wasn't one to litter. He had placed his rifle on his back in favor fo using his hands to climp through the trees when the ground wasn't traversable and when he decided to clamber over rocks. Finally, he took up position on a large tree and brought the sights of the rilfe up to his eyes and waited. He never said he wouldn't ambush the girl.

It was taking a while. The rain slowed everything down, the going was a little... not hard, but definitely built so that you could not go directly towards your goal. Once, she had been sure she would be within the range within ten minutes when she had been confronted by something that most term a 'canyon.' At the time, more choice words were brought to mind. After all, she should have known that he would take an indirect route. That didn't make it easy.

She was forced to take a long detour as it started raining off and on, first pouring, then sunshine again, first erratic, then more rainy, and now, it was getting to be erratic again, leaning towards sunny. Right now, she had her helmet working overtime on infrared, she had set it to point out anything near the temperature of 36 Celsius within the largest range it could safely manage, and it was slow going. Most of the time, it was these funny-looking buzzard-like birds, more like something a child would draw than anything real. Everything about it looked off-kilter. Ah, well.

Slowly, she began reducing her possibilities as being Shane and worked her way through the forest, walking up to trees, hoping that one of the birds wouldn't come down and attack her like that one had. At least she had her helmet on.

Shane was almost a statue. Not completely looking down his sights so he could get a full, unobstructed view of the immediate area that was visible to him. He was so still that one fo the buzzard-bird decided to drop in next to him. The bird eyes Shane enrvously for awhile before realizing he wasn't a threat and just sat perching their. It made a few cawing noises and soon Shane could here some flapping coming his way.

Oh... this was terribly annoying, frustrating and... some four-letter things. The rain, which had now stopped and had turned into a wet heat, had ruined everything, and following every 36 degree lead was.... very tiresome. Part of her wished to get it over with to restart tomorrow, when the rain wouldn't have ruined the trail. However, the stubborn part of her wouldn't let her give up if she took all day... and she felt like she had. She sighed, sweating under her helmet as she turned the temperature regulator down a few notches.

Still, she plowed on, walking from tree to tree, and, incidentally, getting better at dodging the buzzards.

Shane saw movement. There was now a flock of buzzards around him doing... bird like things. When the figure came into view he immediately took it in as female. Even in Mando armor there was jsut something about the hips. Shane fealt guilty as he trained his sights on Krysta. He hadn't told her that he was going to ambush her. He'd giver her a few paces before he made a shot. Even then he'd try to miss.

A small gaggle of the birds had been disturbed to her left, flying in a flutter of feathers. Startled, her head snapped over to the noise, wondering if they were after her - not fun. However, as she turned, she saw something more important at bird-level: someone aiming a blaster.

Oh, nuts, popped through her mind as instinct kicked in, and she dived backwards, behind a tree as she yanked out her own pistol. Adrenaline started pumping through her as she cautiously peeked around the trunk towards her unknown assailant - only to find it was Shane.

"Shane, I'm gonna kill you!" she shouted, though she was more relieved and amused than she was mad. She immediately switched the pistol back to stun and gave chase.

The buzzards used Krysta's yelling and sudden movements as an excuse to fly away. When they moved Shane did. He jumped from his perch and set off down a small 'path'. After a few yards of sprinting, Shane jumped behind a large protruding root. The General propped his gun up and looked down the sights. Waiting to see if Krysta would pursue.
