After the fall of the Galactic Republic and the Free World's Alliance, piracy has become more frequent on the galactic stage. Many worlds left the [Sith] Empire post schism and that resulted in old Imperial ships being sold off and refitted for nefarious -some call it profitable- ventures. Then there is the separation of the Five Syndicates, leaving many formerly associates and interest-aligned pirates independently roaming the hyperlanes.
