I didn't like that Jyn's kyber crystal that her mom gave her ultimately did nothing. It would have been cool if Jyn had lost the Crystal at the Yavin 4 base, and then had an end credits scene of Luke about to get into the X-Wing and finds it, picks it up, looks at it, and he hears Jyn's mother say "Trust the Force".
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!Ehhhhhh.
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
I'd love if the kyber crystal had an ending impact, but I don't think it adds anything to the story if Luke picks it up. If it is someone like Admiral Ackbar, then yes.I didn't like that Jyn's kyber crystal that her mom gave her ultimately did nothing. It would have been cool if Jyn had lost the Crystal at the Yavin 4 base, and then had an end credits scene of Luke about to get into the X-Wing and finds it, picks it up, looks at it, and he hears Jyn's mother say "Trust the Force".
No... um... I was meaning to insinuating it would be the crystal he later uses for his lightsaber in Return of the Jedi.
Beginning half was dry and boring. Second half blew me away.
What struck me most was the aesthetic of the film. When George Lucas designed Star Wars, he was going for a WWII feel with a lot of the technology. He kinda lost sight of that when he did the Prequels, which is one of the MANY reasons why I think they fell flat: they just didn't feel like Star Wars. Rogue One's return to this was excellently done. Force Awakens did a good job of it.
Another thing: the movie took brave steps in storytelling. They killed the characters and made it abundantly clear that this story was wrapped up. Want a sequel? Watch a New Hope (which is what my friends and I did right after we came home from seeing it). If the rest of the anthology films turn out like this (they won't), I've got a good feeling about what they've got in mind.
The only thing I found unsettling about Rogue One was the beginning portion, where they cycle through like five planets within a few minutes.
and of course, the airlock scene where Vader reminded us what a juggernaut of murder and terror should look like.
