How many years after the Force Awakens does this happen?

So... since I really didn't get to RP with my character, its alright if I just change the name and keep the same type of character, right?

About 1030+ years BEFORE Force Awakens.

You can keep as much as you want the same, within reason, and as long as the new character fits into the new timeline (e.g., (s)he's not a decendent of the Solos).

What Marcus said, but you also don't have to even change the name. Basically, the character you have right now will be gone at the end of this timeline, and this same character in the new timeline will become someone new/different by default. Lots of people, including myself, are currently field testing characters for the next timeline with that idea in mind.

This is over 1,000 years before Episode I, so long before The Force Awakens.

No. Those stories are Legends/EU, and we're following canon. So KOTOR, KOTOR 2, and SWTOR, as far as our site's story is concerned, never happened.

We are in the era where the Old Republic fell, the Galactic Republic rose, and the Sith were nearly wiped out, a little bit before Darth Bane.

That is something we are currently examining.

Is the technology announcement subject to the same treatment as the Mandalorian one? That is to say, despite the announcement will technology still go under scrutiny in the Think Tank?

The think tank is mostly about story and in-universe details. Rules are the domain of the admins, and the technology announcement is about rules.

That makes sense, but I recall that it was determined by the Think Tank for timeline 5 (I'm never sure, but every time I read the thread in the story forum I also get the feeling that I wrote a decent chunk of it). Also, I'm pretty sure a lot of Think Tank members (myself included) have suggestions for modifications to the rules/systems leading into timeline 6. Personally, I think it only makes sense that the TT offer that kind of feedback as well. After each timeline is the best opportunity to make the necessary changes (partly based off player feedback, and the TT are selected from the player base to represent them) to ensure that the next one will be more successful.
