While I'm not sure why you would want to, for a number of obvious limitations such a character would have, there's nothing stopping you from writing an astromech droid as a character.

I remember when I first joined the website KotOR was big and there were a few people that RP'd had HK-47 or a sort of equivalent. The issue you run into playing a droid is that you really can't give much in terms of independent thought unless you're a protocol/assassin droid. If you were to make one there's little stopping a Jedi or a Sith from using the Force to lift you in the air and rip you in two or another character accessing the memory bank and wiping you clean/making the character their own droid. Which is a part of what players in the past did.

My suggestion would be to find someone with an indy or a mercenary character that wants a droid and create a profile to RP with them. This will allow you to play the character while having an outside protector to help from getting tampered with. I don't see an astromech or a protocol droid wandering the galaxy for any particular reason alone unless they were programmed to find something/someone and once that was accomplished they would have nothing else to do until a new program/order was given. I would suggest making a sort of cyborg character that is 'more machine than man' so you're given that independent choice of will and have some super strength, brain power/computing intelligence, etc. if you plan on trying to find a story for yourself. A cyborg would be more capable of driving their own story and could have some very interesting write-ups like discovering you're not a pure human/pure alien species or even being hunted by a group of some sort whereas a droid is pure support character in my opinion.

I've always found droids to be great counterparts for stories that are rarely used. I think its due to the sort of comical relief you see in the movies and that they "slow the pace" down in terms of speed. I'd say go for it if you're truly interested, but being limited to 3 character it may not see much RP until you find someone to accompany it.

I'm assuming legend species would be classified as fanon and need the full write up on the species board, Noghri to be specific.

Also are clawdites being reviewed? They should I believe be canon since the assassin that tries to kill Padme was clawdite.
