I don't think you guys need a Council. One thing I'd been stressing in the Jedi Council board when discussions of additional Alliance councils came up was that you don't want to bureaucratize the faction too much. IMO, the best thing to do is to have the Clan leaders be Generals. Each clan leader, as General, is the leader of their individual Clan. When Mandalore gives orders, though, the Generals and Clans heed the call of Mandalore and carry out those order (unless the orders and/or Mandalore are stupid in which case a challenge could be issued).

IC, they don't form a Council. OOC, the FL and the Generals would be a group that can work well together. I just don't see the need to translate OOC cohesion into an IC Council, because that begins to bureaucratize a faction that otherwise doesn't need it.

I like this idea :) Rhea you come up with some sexy ideas

I have a helpful comment, as far as the problem we are having we have different people who have different beliefs on what Mandalorians are. There needs to be a defined compromise and definition of what we are as a faction. Obviously Honor, clan, and armor is important but we need to come together to make a defined mandalorian faction. Mixing some of both factions views and move along armor ranking system and faction allignment doesn't really matter we should address the core issue first

One thing that's been made abundantly clear since all this hooplah started back in October is that there are different ideas about who and what these Mandalorians should be. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. The Mandalorians, to me, could take a page from federalism. At the highest level, they're bound together by an executive leader and basic, accepted core ideas of what it means to be a group. Within the Clans, however, they could RP themselves according to the wishes of that Clan.

Clan A wants to be like the Neo-Crusaders? That's fine. Clan B wants to be Traviss Mandalorians? Sounds good.

So long as they have core accepted principles and beliefs for when they work together under Mandalore, how they carry those out amongst the Clans would be up to the individual Clans.

And given that the Clans would have their own Generals who lead them when not carrying out orders from Mandalore, that gives those Clans freedom to carry out Clan-specific missions and what not specific to how they carry out their beliefs and so forth.

Why must we ally with anyone? Would we not be better off alone or as mercs?

As for uniforms, that would mean we are at war. Only in wartime do Mandalorians wear uniform armour. Since normally, your armour is as much a personal statement. Like Carien's armour is orange and red to express her personality and that she honours her parents.

Colour and patterns have meaning.

Edit: What Bac said

We are at war, Vencu have the word of not only him but his people, therefore we are bound by our honor to that war...plus why wouldn't we war against the weaker faction to get our homes back?

I'm pretty sure if there's an alliance with the Sith, you get Mandalorian territory back. It doesn't have to be fought for.

I guess the Mandalorians are a lot like the Irish. Brawling, abusive, clan-like folk who confuse honor for violence. On that note, if you want to find out the best way to run Mandalorian society, just watch Brotherhood, The Black Donnellys, The Departed etc.

Because Mandalorians want a challenge. To be a mando's opponent is a sign that YOU are strong. The Bounty Hunter story on ToR sums it up nicely.

@Rhea in New Ties it was stated conquering a certain sector of GA space was the only way to get out homes back

@die
No we believe there are other ways to gain honor, supporting fellow clans is a way, like my clan does with food and such

"Opinions are like a-holes: everybody's got one."

After reading a little on arguments for alliances, regardless of whom, I'd say Sith is looking like the better choice. Power, potential, pornography.

Ah, OK. I'm not sure if that's what the deal originally was, so that may be the source of my mistake there. No matter.

Lol they won't learn much else from New Ties. It's turned informal at this point. We're not about to lay out plans in rp >_>

Going along with what Bac said...I feel like the Mandos would be awesomely suited for a feudal, Game of Thrones sort of system. The Mandalore would be equivalent of the King on the Iron Throne, and then each clan would be just like the Great Families. Ordos = Lannisters, Fetts = Starks, Vencus = Baratheons, etc etc etc

When looking at it from that perspective, it's actually a pretty boss idea.

I for one know nothing of Game of Thrones. But if it's anything like rubbing chocolate spread on your belly, I can dig it.
