Yaga Minor.

Val sometimes wondered why they had ever obeyed the Lords of the Sith. The secret shipyards on Exegol had been a strain to operate. It was difficult to move shipments of supplies through the chaos of the Unknown Regions, and even more difficult to bring ships and supplies out once they were complete. Yaga Minor was not such a world. But the Sith had long neglected it despite centuries of being some of the best shipbuilders in the Outer Rim.

That changed today.

Val was accompanied by one other (@Arclight) on her small command shuttle hurdling towards the leviathan mechanical ring orbiting Yaga Minor. Today was long overdue. A full inspection of the shipyards, a full accounting from the planet's representative of what sort of supplies it would need. Once these shipyards were back up to their normal capacity, the Empire would have one more advantage over her Sith foes. And the pre-existing fleet would have a place to receive repairs.

As the ship swung towards the hangar bay, Val unclipped her safety belt and shot a sideways glance towards the Knight who had come as both her protection and second set of eyes. "Look alive," she said as the ship slowed and jerked, landing gear deploying. "It is unlikely this meeting will go over entirely smoothly. The Sith have done so much damage to shipyards like these, diverting resources for their pet projects. Undoing the damage will not be simple. If you see something, point it out."

And then she was headed towards the landing ramp. @Nefieslab

The denizens of Yaga Minor were the native insectoid species of the Yagai.

Long known as masters of their craft, the Yagai enjoyed the work when it came to assembling starships and they were acutely known for their mastery of the hyperspace drive. These two factors alone would have been enough for the Empire to come for them after the Clone Wars but when the Empire came, they were surprised to find that the Yagai were almost docile, agreeing to work at punishing rates.

The Empire of Palpatine believed it was out of a sense of loyalty to the Empire.

The Sith of the Sith Eternal didn't seem to care one way or another why the Yagai were keen to continue working as a glorified slave race, perhaps they assumed it was due to their superiority over the insectoids?

Both were wrong.

The Yagai had simple seen what happened to those who stood too tall and held too stiffly to their pride. So they hunched their forms to look less intimidating and they bred an entire sub-race of Yagai - big, dumb and void-ready - to better serve. All so they could avoid becoming the next Alderaan.

The Imperial ship would be guided by co-ordinates, allowing it to fly past several different hulls of dozens of different types of ships. All of them were under construction but they seemed to be rather scattered in their approach. As the Imperial ship came in to land at a hanger bay, they would find it mostly empty aside from a trio of the Yagai, two of the hulking sub-race and one of the original race, a spindly insectoid shuffling nervously on its trio of feet as it awaited the delegation from the Empire.

Imperial Knights were few and far between in the New Order of the Empire. Everything was in flux as the upper echelons of the Empire set about ensuring the stability and security of the new Empire and the Imperial Knights were to be at the forefront of those efforts. Not in positions of command and influence however, as force sensitives had been during the reign of the Sith Empire. No. They were there to serve as security and enforcement for those who had assumed command.

Ailis was perfectly fine with the new arrangement. Outfitted in her shiny new red duraplast, the bodysuit and helmet outfitted for space and EVA operations, lightsaber sitting gently on her hip as she stood at a loose attention as the ship went through it's docking procedures. She looked at the ISB Director as she addressed her. Her response was simple, respectful and to the point.

"Yes Ma'am." The Imperial knight said with a nod before lowering the faceless crimson helmet she held down over her head where it sealed in place with a gentle hiss. There was little else for her to add as the boarding ramp lowered and she lead the way down, playing security a step ahead of the Director. Her eyes roamed the nearly empty hangar bay, searching for threats. She opened herself to the force, her senses focused and alert as she probed for hidden figures or threatening intentions.

Yaga Minor was a sweltering, humid world, so Val was glad to be docking with the orbital ring containing the planet's many shipyards. The air on the station had an odd chemical odor to it, but it was better than sweating her make-up off in some bug hive down on the surface. As she disembarked her ship, she noticed a welcoming party, chittering nervously at the base of the ramp.

She marched off, hands folded professionally behind her back, glancing beyond the Yagai to the facility behind them. Crisp and clean, just as she'd expected. "Honorable representatives of Yaga Minor," she said, putting on her 'Director voice'. "Thank you for welcoming us to your homeworld. I am looking forward to a productive day and conversation together." She motioned ahead. "Shall we?"

The delegations began to move deeper into the hangar bay. Val, ever conscious of the time she was consuming and how she was consuming it, immediately moved to business. "I won't waste your time and will jump straight to the point. The Sith have neglected your world and your businesses during their reign, choosing instead to focus on secret projects in far-flung regions of the galaxy." She pursed her lips, annoyed again at the thought of their overlord's waste. "The Empire will make no such mistakes. Not any longer."

"That is why I am here. In addition to a tour of your facilities, I would like to be brought up to date on the state of your shipyards. Their defenses — or lack thereof — supplies on hand and needed, the whole works." Here, Val had to practice something she was not used to. Diplomacy. "Of course, this is not a one way street. The Warmaster would also like to be informed of your needs. The Empire is strapped at the moment, cleaning up the Sith's messes, but your people are not forgotten, and their needs will be met in due time."

The Yagai leader in the talks had confidence in it's own ability but seeing the ISB Director sweeping into the hanger bay was enough to chill its blood. Alongside a warrior of some kind - whom the Yagai would have sworn was a Sith were it not for recent events - the duo made for an intimidating sight even when compared to the Yagai official and their hulking brutes of bodyguards.

When Val introduced herself and began talking, the official representing the Yagai bowed slightly before gesturing to the two hulking figures beside it.

"We thank you Director Varthra, though I must correct you slightly; I am the only representative. The two beside me are husks - they cannot think for themselves."

It was an unfortunate fact of life for the Yagai that some of them deliberately birthed these husks, these sub-Yagai, purely for their utility. They were not wholly alive in many of the ways that most sentients understood the condition of "life". Independent thought was a mystery to these creatures and it was only through a careful cultural segregation and education that the Yagai were able to continue to see the sub-Yagai as such.

If they were left to wonder if the sub-Yagai could be abused, they would surely do so and the collective guilt of enslaving their sub-Yagai children would be too much for the species.

Instead?

Willful ignorance and thorough tests to ensure the sub-Yagai never grew aware.

Still, the conversation moved on and the representative guided Val and Ailis through the hanger bay toward the main fabrication unit of the shipyards. The way there was a windowed corridor that afforded a fantastic view of the shipyard at work. Even now, sub-Yagai could be seen walking the hulls of ships, being directed into action by Yagai in space suits.

"The Yagai people have no wish to earn the anger of the Empire, Director, but you must understand that many within the Yagai are far more terrified of the Sith threat that still remains."
the representative nervously ran its hands against each other, "There are those amongst the Yagai who still have old, distant, memories and recordings. We remember the Sith and their ways of 'retaliation'."

It was a genuine conundrum for the Yagai - they were afraid that the Sith, with their well-known history of violent outbursts against 'traitors' would come for them and sabotage them. Kill their children in their beds and the like. But, at the same time, they were not ignorant of the fact that the Empire was, likewise, an entity that they didn't want to have coming after them.

To be the Yagai was to walk the tightrope between understandable fear and paranoia.
