Jaikus turned his attention back to Korre, emerald eyes fixating onto the Belascan woman as a smile tugged at the corners of his lips. He did not miss the little twinkle in her eyes, nor the sudden interest when he mentioned his profession.
He couldn’t help but visible brighten as they moved pasted introductions and onto this newest topic of conversation. He looked visibly more relaxed, and his smile portrayed a bit more warmth that his usual polite expression.
There was no denying that the Axxilan had always been an academic at heart, growing practically giddy whenever the topic turned to matters of history. It was something Emryc had witnessed on multiple occasions since they had been together, having a front-row seat to all of the Axxilan’s long-winded lectures and spiraling trains of thought. And it was for that precise reason that Jaikus has pursued academia in his public persona, finally putting his higher education to use while indulging his passion for the subject.
Jaikus took a sip from his drink, humming softly before answering. “I am a professor of history for the Hanna Institute of Antiquities. Well, adjunct professor.” He chuckled softly. “And I do believe the entire galaxy considers you to be an educated woman.” He smiled, tipping his glass towards the Belascan. “After all, your work with the GHO is famous across the galaxy. And I have had the pleasure of reading some of your published works."
He tapped his finger against his glass, pausing for a brief moment. There was a distinct glint in the Axxilan's eye at that moment, making it clear she had his full attention for the moment. “Your field of study was microbiology and biochemistry before politics, yes?”
