A common misconception flooded both the Jedi and Sith. That the flames belonged to the Darkside. The Grandmaster herself had shown them how untrue that was. Rather than simply cut the plants, Draugr super-heated the air around his legs. It was one grain of sand from tipping into a conflagration. Caris provided the tipping point. Draugr built a scorching heat around his legs. As the Sith Lord was focused on cutting the branches and heating the air, Caris acted.

Timing his working of the Force at the moment the Sith Lord was most focused. As the air reached the temperature to burn plant life...he struck. It was a simple act. Just push the air over the limit. The air was already scorching hot around his legs. In an instant, scorching hot became boiling flames.

The air around Draugr legs became a fire which tore at his legs and lower abdomen. Caris quickly took hold of the flames to press them into Draugr’s body and burn through whatever flesh existed. Draugr foolishly failed to engage again which left Caris free to do as he wished. He took a step back as he set the fire. No need to get caught in it. It would be extremely difficult for Draugr to escape unscathed as the hot air turned to fire in an instant and that hot air was all around his legs. One Sith was on the ground. Another would soon follow.

[Tiberius Fenric]

The masked sith was able to deflect Tiberius attack back at him, which wasn’t totally unexpected. The knight side stepped the paver and it whizzed past his head. Tiberius continued his charge. He held his lightsaber in his right hand and drug the tip of his blade along the ground as he ran. The knight abruptly stopped about two and a half meters from his opponent. With his left hand he called on the force and drew a stream of fire from the molten earth where his lightsaber had touched the ground.

As Edaara took aim at the masked sith’s legs Tiberius sent the flames towards his opponent so that they would strike her left shoulder and face. While the sith was still hopefully distracted by the flames, Tiberius would close the short distance between them aided by force speed and performing an diagonal, upward, back handed slash at the sith’s left arm.

At the end of the knight's attack he would be positioned behind the sith ready to defend against the inevitable counter. The darksider was now sandwiched between her two jedi opponents.

[Vex]

Vex had fallen into a groove. She was consumed by the dark side of the Force, its ebbs and eddies guiding her every movement. It helped that the Mirialun Jedi's (@Reylo4evr) probing attacks had become predictable at this point.

Vex raised her blade to parry the slash aimed at her right saber arm, deflecting the Jedi's lightsaber off to her right. She would then deliver a hard kick at the Mirialun's center-of-mass, which would not only interrupt any attempt to use the Force to lift and remove her helmet, it was also aimed to send the Jedi woman staggering backwards, preventing any opportunity for a second attack at Vex's legs.

But she had not lost track of her human opponent either (@logan2665). The fool had made an error in coming to a complete stop before making his attack, buying her precious seconds to stabilize herself and send a second Force blast in his direction with the two fingers she still had outstretched from her left saber hand, which would redirect his flames right back into his own face. If the human Jedi did not stop and end his attack, he would be left with severe facial burns and would likely be blinded, as well. The redirected attack would also interrupt any subsequent attempt to use Force speed, much less close the gap between them to slash at any part of her body.

[Caris Orlan]

War often shifted in a moments notice. Even the greatest warriors could not predict how the winds of battle might suddenly shift. Twice, such had happened to Caris. Ithor had rained turbolaser blasts on their heads. Ossus ending in humiliating defeat. What happened on Ansion was quite different. The acolyte fell and within a heartbeat later Draugr was beating a retreat. That left only the masked Sith…who was previously outnumbered.

Caris had yet to ignite his Lightsaber. A piece of his whispered they should rid the galaxy of her. He was a Shadow. That was his purpose, but had they not done enough? His com was alive with chatter as the Sith Ordered their retreat. A resounding victory for the people of Ansion and the Order. For once, the tide shifted in their direction.

Caris spun the unlit lightsaber in his hands. He raised his voice for Edaara and Tiberius. “Your call.” He pointed the hilt at the remaining Sith. If they said the word, he would act, but Caris knew neither was the type of hunt for blood. He suspected they would resist his baser instincts. Nodding, he headed off towards the political center from which they came. Already, cheers sprung up on the planet. He flicked his own coms on. “We will need to inform the Council of our victory. I’m sure they will wish to take whatever small advantage they can.” He spun the saber hilt again. “I’ll stay for clean up.” There was no point in rushing off world. It would be wise for the Jedi to be seen aiding the recovery efforts. As short as the invasion had been, there was still piles of damage. There were no easy victories in this war. Only short lived ones.

[Edaara Tonor]

Two down. One to go. With both Edaara and Tiberius attacking, the masked sith (@Mockingjay ) would not last long. Edaara could hear over her com the Sith ordering a retreat and saw out of the corner of her eye Draugr go up in flames. Caris had delivered devastating blows to both Sith. They were not Edaara's style, but she still felt she should end this fight with the masked Sith.

The parry to Edaara's lightsaber was not unexpected, but the kick to her gut was. She stumbled backwards, her saber nearly slipping out of her hand. At the last minute she stabilized herself with the Force. While the woman was preoccupied fending off Tiberius, she used the Force to boost her speed as she leapt the few feet she had stumbled backwards a few seconds previously. She hooked an arm around the woman's exposed torso and spun using her momentum and the Force. She made a full turn before releasing her hold on the woman- sending her flying across the upended pavers, roots, and scorched ground of the battle field. She would not come out of that unharmed; it was likely she would even be unconscious.

If she wasn't unconscious, Edaara would bound over to where she lay and press the pressure points on the side of the woman's neck, effectively knocking her out. Edaara straightened and rejoined Tiberius, making sure he was alright.

[Vex]

Vex was most certainly not 'occupied' with the male Jedi. In truth, flicking his own flames back into his face had been easier than swatting away a particularly annoying fly. And now that the retreat order had been given, she didn't particularly have to stick around and continue playing with these children. She was disgusted with their results: one Sith knocked out immediately, the other, a Master, stalemated again. But at least she could be proud of having held off these two without major injury.

She didn't give the Mirialun Jedi (@Reylo4evr) a chance to attack. The moment the woman stabilized and crouched to lunge, Vex snapped a gloved finger and vanished in a haze of purple smoke. Without a word spared for her enemy. The Jedi Order had won this round. But next time the Mirialun would not have two of her friends to save her.

Next time, Vex would make sure she got her mark.

[Tiberius Fenric]

With his own flames being directed back at him Tiberius held out a hand and absorbed both the flames and the force push. Not being experienced enough to redirect the attack back at his opponent Tiberius returned the energies back to the force.

The knight heard the voice of Caris that indicated the defeat of Draugr. It would now be a three on one battle. The odds were not in favor of the remaining sith and it appeared that she was aware of it as indicated by the plume of purple smoke that transported the darksider away from the battle.

This victory would be a morale boost for the Jedi and the rebellion. With the successful defense of Ansion the order had gained another ally. Like Caris, Tiberius would stick around to help with clean up to help strengthen relations with their new ally.

 

[Edaara Tonor]

Once all the Sith were gone, Edaara joined Tiberius and Caris in cleaning up and building relations with their new allies. She was proud to have helped the Jedi secure this victory, and she hoped this event lifted the Jedi in the galaxy's view. She knew there had been some lives they couldn't save, but in the end they won. This would not be the last battle as the Jedi struggled to bring peace to the world.
