Name: Argoss Shen III
Age: 37
Species: Echani
Home Planet: Eshan
Occupation: Senator
Father: General Argoss Shen II
Mother: Councilor Idina Laan
Siblings: None
Spouse: Nidia Shen
Marital Status: Widower
Offspring: None
Position on War: In Favor

Composition and Appearance:

Argoss bears the highly distinguishable features of the Echani. His skin is as pale as snow and hugs his well-toned body tightly like a sheet stretched over a series of bumps and bulges. His white hair is held back in a perpetual braid, banded at the nape of his neck by a black silk ribbon, a token from his deceased bride. With the eyes of a predator, he lets his silvered gaze chill the resolve of his foes. Argoss stands with an air of confidence befitting a man of his position and history, though his fellow Echani, and some empaths, can pick up on the subtle sorrow of his movements. They would also notice his resolve of his actions as he tempers them with the Echani interests.

Personality:

Quiet and reserved, Argoss is quite a private man. Though he used to be quite energetic and ambitious in his youth, age and marriage taught him much. Each situation he finds himself in he delegates mentally before acting. He reads the subtle movements of others, using his Echani heritage to gain advantage when he can. Even as a Senator, however, he still engages in regular spars with his kinsman, keeping his skills well honed and lethal. This lends to his confidence, and quite a few assassins have found themselves foiled by what they thought was a mere senator.

Likes:
Sparring
Theater
Peace
Solidarity
Moments with friends and family
Physical sports

Dislikes:
Armor
Cowardice
Inaction
Cheats
Dishonest Senators
Attempts at bribery

Strengths and Weaknesses: Argoss has been trained in combat since early childhood. As all adult Echani he has reached the third tier of their martial arts. He is able to read the movements of others and understand them completely. He is well versed in the use of Echani weaponry, even the exotic vibro-double blades.

Not without fault, Argoss sports his own share of flaws. He is incapable of getting over the death of his wife. Though his grief has passed the affects and memories of it haunt him even three years later. Aside from the world of politics he is a bit of a recluse, keeping to himself and close friends and family. He has been known, at times, to indulge in visiting the theater and other establishments without a retinue of security.

Biography:

Argoss Shen III is the only child and son of General Argoss Shenn II and Councilor Idina Laan. His father, a General of his homeworld's military saw to his saws martial training personally. He drilled the young man for hours on end in the way of Echani combat, sometimes pitting him against seasoned veterans under his command. The boy learned at a reasonable pace and rose through the tiers just as quickly as his peers. Though he did not progress at a rate worth recognition, he showed an aptitude for winning bouts. Instead of burning through the tiers he had taken his time to learn through them to a fine point, turning him into a able combatant.

Idina Laan, a Councilor of Eshon, educated her son on the Galaxy and Republic. She taught him everything from the proper etiquette expected of a politician as well as the dangers of such a life. To be a public servant was akin to being a target of value. Someone always wanted to take it down. Unwittingly her attempt to broaden her son's education would prepare him for a future none could expect.

Reaching adulthood, Agross was part of a number of soldiers pledged to the Republic as a show of good faith and support for keeping the galaxy safe. He and a number of Echani integrated with the Republic military as martial combat instructors and specialist. Along with them they brought the first generation of echani personal shields.

He spent four years in the Republic military and developed a fondness for the system. When he was rotated back to the homeworld he was surprised to be met by the Echani Senator. The woman was several years his senior but showed an unexpected interest in Argoss' career. She offered him a position on her security team which he hesitantly accepted.

Argoss took the the job like a Gungan to water, scouring over security protocols with the scrutiny of Echani training. As far as he could see there were no faults and humored by Argoss' initiative, Nidia, the Senator, made him her personal bodyguard. Wherever she went so did he. There was rarely a moment when the two were in different rooms. Echani modesty left the two exposed to each other in moments where most would require the comfort of privacy.

At some point in time the Senator began sparring with Argoss. The two, initially uninterested in each other in such a way, used the sessions to develop a trust required of protector and ward. Through the series of bouts something more grew between the two. The two shared a bond from that point on that stretched the boundry between employee and lover.

Argoss insisted they marry while Nidia, uncertain of her feelings, focused more on her political work. Two years passed until Argoss ' persistance won Nidia's hand. He resigned from his position and married her a year afterwards. From then on he was a part of every waking moment in Nidia's life and she his. The world of politics had become theirs instead of solely hers and he would spend hours simply listening to her as she went over treaties and proposals, weighing the interests of the Echani with those of the Republic.

Eventually Nidia became pregnant and the two proudly prepared for their family to grow. They became enamoured with the idea of parenthood. Argoss looked forward to teaching his child as his father had taught him. Tragedy struck, however, and grief would certainly follow. A few months before the baby's due date Nidia took ill. A strange disease had took hold of her, complicating the pregnancy. An emergency surgery was arranged. Argoss was given a choice of saving the baby or mother. His love of Nidia made him choose both, even though it was not an option the doctor's recommended. He felt that he couldn't raise a child alone and that Nidia wouldn't survive the death of her baby. In the end Argoss lost both.

With a vacuum in the Echani senatorial seat Argoss was appointed, being the only one with in depth knowledge of Nidia's work.

A bit late in saying, but, isn't it kinda odd for an Echani senator (considering such a senator would be representative of Eshan) to be... well, male? The Echani are a way female-dominant society.

Yes and No. There are still a lot of prominent Echani Male figures. Generals and the like.

EDIT: I think. If I remember right.

I can think of only one, Brianna's father, who was a general and war hero. Granted, there is not much on the Echani as a whole, but the male rebellion of Thyrsus (which then became male-dominant Echani) and the fact that Echani Command (Echani government) was female exclusive ruling body and the implication of the name Six Sisters (Echani worlds) pretty much suggests that he was a rarity. Everything seems to point to the ladies dominating the entire culture.

I always thought of it sorta like the drow. Matriarchal, but men could still get high up the ladder. They could just never really reach the top, and were generally gonna be less high up the totem pole.
