[Vanya]

Vanya didn't blame the other woman. After all, most people - nearly all people - lived their lives avoiding confrontation and violence. That's why they're sheep. The sheep doesn't seek out conflict, she thought to herself. It had been pointed out to her at one point that comparing people to "sheep" was insulting but that wasn't how Vanya looked at it. They were all animals. Well... okay, she supposed the shepherd analogy had her as a person, but that wasn't the point!

Vanya sighed internally. Whatever, this diplomacy garbage wasn't her strong suit. A sheepdog! She could be a sheepdog! Then they'd all be animals. Not the point, Vanya, she internally grumbled again.

Her eyes narrowed a bit at the phrasing. "Something more." I am a fighter and more, she said, emphasizing the word.

Nothing wrong with being a warrior, she said with a frown. Combat magic, she added.

Nothing wrong with being a warrior. Mallory shook her head quickly at the suggestion that she had meant otherwise.

”No, of course not.” It got her thinking though about their earlier conversation about right and wrong. The choices that they had, limited as they were.

”Is it wrong to not be a fighter, if one is touched?” The words spat out of her mouth as she thought them and she looked at her drink again in accusation.

The revelation that Vanya was a user of combat magic as her main way of being a warrior grabbed Mallory's interest and her eyes twinkled with curiosity.

”Combat magic? Now you're speaking my language.” She leaned her elbows forward on the table with her chin on the back of her hands, her eyes glazed with the effects of their drinks.

”I bet you do all sorts of magic though.” She said as she leaned back and yawned, covering her mouth. ”How do I convince you to show me some magic? I have an academic interest.”

Not everyone is meant to be a warrior, she said truthfully. It was not everyone's purpose to fight. There were many even within the Jedi Order who had devoted to healing, study, and meditation. There were more orders within the galaxy that did the same. No, Vanya didn't fault them for looking for a different way, but someone had to fight, and that someone was Vanya.

The galaxy was full of bullies and bullies needed to be stopped.

The woman immediately perked up at Vanya's mention of magic, which wasn't particularly surprising. Magic was a lost art and even the White Magic she learned from the holocron of Ciri Vis had been lost for 1000 years. The Nightsisters taught their magick to no one.

People don't understand magic because they don't understand what lies beyond the Veil. It is about tapping into the luminous beings that are everything represented by this crude flesh, she said. Something subtle changed in the way she spoke as she spoke. In a galaxy where she wasn't sure what to do or how to do it, magic was something she knew. It was a certainty she was raised in since her earliest memories.
