Born on the Kel Dor homeworld of Dorin, Bir Vuul’s time with his parents and clan was short. From a very young age, the boy demonstrated an ability that many of his species recognized as the potential to command the Force as the Jedi Knights of old and when a Master of the New Jedi Order had arrived on the planet when Bir was only four, he was soon handed over to the Master with hopes of receiving training and serving the galaxy as a member of the Order.
His training progressed relatively well, earning a place under the human Jedi Knight Kari Windstar as her Padawan by the time he had reached the age of fourteen. With Windstar, the Kel Dor travelled the galaxy settling disputes between Outer Rim planetary governments and their citizens in an effort to prevent civil war, mercy missions to oppressed civilians, and even spending some time exploring the edges of the Unknown Regions but when the call came to return to the Order, Windstar and Bir Vuul soon found themselves being sent to the world of Ryloth after word had reached them that Sith forces had amassed and were beginning to orbit the desert world.
Arriving in the heat of battle, both Windstar and Vuul boarded a landing craft with a team of Rangers and soon managed to infiltrate one of the Sith cruisers with the intention of preventing the enemy from dispatching their own forces to the world’s surface. The mission was in vain, however, as soon the Jedi and their men were overwhelmed in the hangar shortly after landing. Under estimating their enemies desire to succeed, the foot soldiers were cut down mere minutes after spilling from the landing craft and Master and Apprentice were soon confronted by a member of the Sith Order. Battle ensued, resulting in Vuul’s lightsaber being destroyed and his left arm being separated at the shoulder. Windstar, however, was far less fortunate and was decapitated before Vuul’s very eyes as he lay suffering. The battle eventually resulted in the Sith retreating from Ryloth and declaring the conflict a Jedi victory but Vuul never escaped and has been a Sith prisoner of war ever since…
Personality
Bir Vuul was, in essence, a model student of the Jedi Order. Unafraid to face any challenge yet never over-estimating his own abilities, he was often seen as a role model for the youngest of the Order and found a degree of pleasure from instructing the newcomers in both lightsaber combat as well as showing the other Padawans the ins and outs of a flight simulator. Many who knew him believed that in time, he would take on a role of an instructor for younglings before they found themselves assigned to a Master of their own. A sentiment that he shared with them, wanting nothing more than to become a teacher more so than a warrior. However, much has changed since then. The Padawan had developed a strong attachment to his old Master and upon witnessing her death he had been left broken. The kernel of darkness began to grow within and facing extensive torture at the hands of his captors has further twisted the young man from who he once was…
Insanity is what drives this young Sith now. With a broken psyche and his true self caged in the depths of his mind, Bir is known to act before thinking and allows his base desires to push him on. His true loyalties are unknown even to himself and his approach to his peers and enemies is determined by
