BIOGRAPHY
Darius Gal grew up on Zolan, the ancestral world of the Clawdites. His family was boringly average. Darius’ father, Dagen Gal, works in construction. For a few brief years, Darius apprenticed under him before deciding that a life of mixing duracrete and taking orders from droids was not for him. Varien Gal, his mother, is an accountant for a small accounting firm and handles the books for Zol Contrustion, the firm Dagen works for. Darius’ two bothers, Vagen and Vorath, and his sister, Salien, are currently spread throughout the galaxy leading more or less mundane, not illegal, not entirely legal lives. Despite having a relatively large family, they are not closely-knit – typical for the Clawdite race. Darius is on holiday card terms with his family, along with the occasional holonet message to briefly catch up.

Wanderlust is in his veins, and has been for a very long time. Darius, like all of his siblings, wanted to leave Zolan since a young age, and forge their own paths in the galaxy. Pacts were made with each other to support each other or leave together, only to be abandoned once their interests grew apart, only to be reforged, and abandoned shortly after.

If there was one thing Darius excelled at, or at least showed a knack for, was technology. He was constantly disassembling electronics as a kid. At one point it got so bad that Varien took him to an electronics recycling dump and told him to get his toys from there and not the family’s living room. Darius happily obliged and ended up with a room chock full of partially disassembled electronic devices, some of which were worth a pretty credit to collectors or industry professionals needing a source for unsupported legacy hardware.

With money he made from refurbishing electronics as a hobby, Darius was able to afford online coursework and holomags devoted to the art of slicing. Originally fancying himself as a “good-guy” slicer determined to enact social reform by exposing terrible corporate emails, he slowly found himself wandering down a path of justifying less ethical ends.

This path eventually led to Nal Hutta – at least electronically. Employed as a freelancer who could work from the comfort of wherever in the galaxy, Darius examined holotsites for security vulnerabilities that could be exploited, gave his opinions on how to bypass hardware security restrictions, and contributed to the programming and development of dedicated slicing tools. Darius isn’t sure exactly when he crossed the line between freelancer and actually being a part of the Syndicates, but at some point it happened. He attracted the attention of the Crymorah Syndicate, who made it clear that he’d best be careful about working for any of the other Syndicates.

Personality
If one word would describe Darius above all others, it would be independent. He is a bit of a loner, and prefers to do things on his own, unhindered by having to deal with partners or answer questions that get in the way of his work. That being said, he also has a touch of pride, wanting to show off his skills and receive recognition for them. As a practical matter, he knows that he won’t get far in life, especially not with the Syndicates, alone without allies or support.
Aliases

Vence Klortho – An average, unassuming human male with slightly ruddy, mottled complexion, blue eyes, and red hair. He lives on New Cov, though spends most of his time off-planet, perpetually looking for work. He spent several months working as a longshoreman at the local spaceport before informing his then-supervisor that he’d gotten a better offer working on transports. He has a small apartment in a poorer section of town, though due to his extensive time off-world, has merely contributed to his half of the rent while his co-lessee takes care of the day to day affairs. “Vence” has a modest social media presence, mainly consisting of complaints about purchased products, complaints about politics, and sharing videos of speederbike races and modifications. Vence is also the administrator of the holopage “The Wacky Galaxy”, a minor blip in the vast sea of holovid and holomeme accounts. The long-term goal of the account is data collection, though the sheer overwhelming potential means that he needs a droid to properly run the page and collate data. For now, he is content for it to exist and slowly gain followers as a foundation for future use.

Vence is the main persona that Darius adopts when interacting with the galaxy at large.

Skills
Darius is a middling slicer. Better than some, not as good as the best. However he certainly has not plateaued in ability. He has a good eye for problem solving and seeing that indirect approaches can often be just as effective, if not moreso, than direct approaches. If there is any one broad area where he suffers, it is combat. Darius is a mediocre shot with a blaster, and his hand to hand skills can be described as “he tries.” While he spent a pretty credit on obtaining a CDEF blaster pistol, an examination of the weapon itself – it’s almost pristine condition with minimal carbon fouling and wear on the grip points to its purchase as more of a curio than an actual weapon he intends to use.
