I heard eve was well... bad. And horrifically terrible for new players to get into.

it has a huge learning curve yeah. But if you have some friends that play it then its easy to figure out. I had a close friend of mine guide me and help me with fittings and such and it wasnt too bad.

Haha, nice diagram, much easier to understand now. But it is reassuring that Jesus plays Eve

You do realize Crucifixion is not synonymous with Christianity. It was used before and after Jesus.

Everything related to gameplay you complain about related to WoW is nonexistent once you get over the low-level hump.

No it's not, they still have fetch quests just on a grander scale, the community is still bad and the raids are nowhere near as good as other MMO's out there.

Also per what Keanu said, EvE is probably the second best MMO I ever played.

Yeah, I know someone who played WoW, and he mainly stuck to playing with people he knew in real life. He also did point out that the majority of the players behaved like kids. EvE is a bit of a harsh reality, but I find some belief that the developers didn't want to have to take shit for someone breaking the rules, so they didn't impliment many to be broken.

By the way, before (or if anyone already has) says WoW has the most players for an MMO, just shut up. Runescape has more players and its combat system is nothing more than basic dice rolling and grinding for exp.

I concur with Nexus, I bet most of you never even had a subscription to WoW. Just the little one day, 48 hour-whatever long trial accounts.

I had one of the first lvl 60 Druids in the game.

I am going to go out on a leg and not believe you. Maybe you did, but if you did, you probably would have mentioned this earlier.

Though I must say, I prefer this over debating religion anyway, who is with me? :)

You don't have to believe me, I know that I did. I didn't say first, I said one of the first. Why would I have mentioned it? It did not pertain to the argument in any way.

We don't really care that much Jaxx. And yes, I prefer religion not being the focus of debate. And being level 60 druid in WoW doesn't wow (excuse the pun) everybody. Get to level 100 in Runescape, then I will be impressed.

Or unlock every hat/item in TF2.

This is leveling in WoW:

1-15 = Okay
15-30 = Bearable
30-60 = Utterly Sucks
60-70 = Fun
70-80 = Bearable

To be comepletly honest, BC gave the best world content. Wotlk was a good expansion but I felt that it was more repetitive, because most of the stuff was reused over and over again. The fun only starts once you hit 80 in WoW because that is when you start getting better gear and you actaully feel powerful. You are able to do Arenas and Battlegrounds if you are in to PvP, or Raids and Heroics if you prefer PvE. Though for me atleast, after you gain a sufficient amount of gear it also becomes boring shortly after becoming and 80. Ways for newer players to curve the boredom of leveling is doing Recruit a Friend with someone who already plays. I have an 80 Frost/Fire Mage, which Is pretty fun for PvP but eh for PvE. I also have a 60 Enhance Shaman and 60 Retribution Paladin.

As for SWG:
*I played after CU and SOE ****ed everything.
1-90 was fun all around atleast I think so. This may have been because I was playing with other friends, or i really enjoy Star Wars, or the fact that I was able to take breaks and RP because the guild I was in did so often. Once I hit 90 though, the PvE and PvP did not compare to that of WoW because of the fact that it was outdated and bugged. Monsters could run as fast as your speeders, they'd get stuck in the environment and the lack of Dungeon complexity was less than desirable. As for PvP it was imbalanced for new players who lacked gear that you had to spend Millions of credits, or long hours of grinding to obtain. Classes were squishy and Battlegrounds were giant plains and rolling hills with 2 bases located on either side with objectives that didn't really fit. Though the community aspect was great. Whether you be talking to players with 5+ years under their belt or some fresh newbies it was always fun. I played as a 90 Melee Officer which was pretty good but squishy.

If you guy would want to play SWG like it was before SOE ****ed it there is a new Emulator up. Click Here.

Some Other MMOS:

Aion:
*I only got to level 20 and that was in the closed beta.
Leveling in this game was such a grind took me two sessions of closed beta & constant no-lifing to get to level 20. This may have burnt me out and kept me from playing the game the I preordered at release, or may have been the guild selection and the people who were just generally annoying in it. The game had fun mechanics though leveling was painful and pulling multiple mobs could easily result in death. I was only able to do one Boss who was a world boss and I was carried by my guild caused I was like 4 levels to low. I played as a Templar and when I dueled other characters I'd kick the shit out of most of them, cept for Chanters/Clerics cause they were OP as shit at the time.

City of Heros:
This was one of the first MMOs I played and I think that I would have enjoyed playing it more if I actually knew how to play MMOs at the time or even if I was more mature. Looking back I remember it being a game that was best played with Friends and being young and not having much friends that played MMOs I was kinda at a loss. The customization was amazing if I remember correctly and I remember one instance where I robbed a bank with some random person which was enjoyable.

These are just my opinions and experiences on game but I think that DCUO will probably succeed if even for a short while. TOR may or may not be a WoW killer and will most likely not fill the hole that SWG once filled for me seeing how they are almost worlds apart at the moment. WoW overall is the leading MMO at the moment though it only gained it's reputation through years of polishing and reworking so I'm sure sometime soon another MMO will rise above it.

EDIT: Cause I saw someone say Runescape. I am a 125 in it and It's just a game to play when you're bored and it easily gets boring.

Of course there are still fetch quests, but they aren't the focus after you get over the early-game hump. Late game is about epic raids, massive quest-chains and intense PVP.

Everything you're saying is what WoW-haters, who've never even played the game, spout, and it's laughable at how little facts they have. Is it the greatest MMO? Not likely. Does it deserve the shit it gets from people who've never seriously played it? No.

You're acting as if TOR is going to completely break the MMO mold. It isn't. It'll still have fetch-quests and mob-grinding. It'll still have 12 year old ****wits. Don't try and act like it won't, because that's simply being delusional.

I never said any of that and you have proof of none of that, of course I've played WoW and of course I played past level damn 30. It's a bad/close to decent MMO and the best description in this thread so far of the game has been by Valshot right above you.

I was actually considering City of Heros/City of Villains, especially convient since their going Rogue expansion is about to be released. I have to say your good report of it will increase my interest (unlike SWG, you can actually find gamecards for CoH).

But yeah, I really hate sometimes when there are twelve year olds and below. My friend and I once were on Guild Wars, and got stuck with a ten year old warrior who didn't even know how to use the attribute and skill system, and we were trying to do an -advanced- mission. Grinding may be boring sometimes, but it's simpler than doing a ridiculous quest that goes off the map, around a few confusing corners, and through a bog that doesn't even look passable.

On another note, I've recently been watching videos of the Cataclysm beta, which so far is very pleasing. They are revamping the 1-60 experience for player so that it has more immersion and depth rather then full of kill quests. I'm not so excited about the new races though, just cause they feel 'eh'. If I'm still playing WoW when this comes out I'll think about buying it and rolling a Troll Druid. Some downsides (subject to change though.) they are still reusing a lot of the armor and weapon texture like Wotlk did. I'm kinda upset for the new level cap because the curve between a 79 and an 80 is already a large leap and I can only wonder how bad it is going to be when you get to 85. Also I'll have to regrind gear and all that.

I can't stop watching the DCUO trailer just cause it's pretty epic.
