Dilios took the lightsaber from his master and observed. Although only a training lightsaber, this weapon identified an individual as a member of the Jedi Order. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster, this was a intriquite weapon of a civilized age.

"A symbol of the Jedi is the lightsaber, yet it is also a weapon and not a tool as some may teach you. Never should you draw your lightsaber in a fit of rage or anger, for it should only be drawn when you intend to take a life. It is not a means to scare your opponent, for you will learn other ways to amend a situation peacefully. The lightsaber is and always will be your last resort. Never forget that," she told him, seeking him to look her in the eyes, reassuring her that he heard her words before motioning him toward the center of the room.

"Now, you must first learn to wield your lightsaber. I have modified your blade to only stun instead of cauterize should it meet your flesh. Yet, just because it will not harm you does not mean it won't have any effect. If you are struck by the blade, that portion of your body will be numb for several hours. A numb limb is harder to control," she instructed as she pulled out a lightsaber of a more intracate design. It had obviously seen battle before as the lack-luster metal showed signs of scratches and dents.

Dilios ignited the lightsaber. A blade of green with a white core extended from the hilt. A humming noise was made from the lightsaber. Dilios held the lightsaber in a defensive position in front of him.

His form seemed to come naturally, Khaluq noticed, as she nodded her head, motioning him to test it's balance in his grip.

"Try it out. Get used to it's weight in your hand. Then, I will show you how to use such a weapon."

Dilios moved the blade through the air, the blade itself being weightless, it was like moving a flashlight around. The humming noise sounded as he moved it through the air. He did a few careful spins.

The training sabers were more lightweight than those constructed by the Jedi toward the end of their training. Those who became too self assured opened up a cavern in which they could plummet down. It seemed as if this padawan, more than the others, walked a very delicate line. Too much freedom would push him over the edge, just as too much discipline. No, there was a balance with which Khaluq knew she had to maintain for the safety of her own padawan.

"There are two positions that are taught as the main defensive positions to hold in a battle. One is a low guard, centered in the middle of your body and held low."

She demonstrated the position, holding her lightsaber with both hands, arms almost fully extended and blade tilted outward in a 45 degree angle.

"This allows you the freedom to counter to the right or left in an upward sweep should you need to protect yourself," she advised him before flicking her blade left, then right, then swinging her arms up left, then right demonstrating the defensive move. "Try it."

Dilios nodded and mimicked his master, holding out his arms and the blade not at the same angle as his master, but pretty close. He then swung the blade left and right, then did the same with his arms.

As he was completing the second move, Khaluq quickly charged at him, her speed slow enough for him to counter, yet still attempting to catch him off guard. Prepared to stop the blade before it struck him, she wanted to see how connected he was with the Force. One in tune would be able to counter her attack, yet one not focused on their surroundings would feel her blade come close enough to feel the heat radiating from the light blade.

What the?, thought Dilios has his master swung her blade at him. He deflected the attack, but she had come close to making contact with him, she had caught him off guard.

"Good!" she said, encouraging him. "You've shown an amazing ability to transfer the instruction to actual combat. Yet, you must always be on guard when facing someone carrying a weapon. Never let yourself be caught off-guard. You've shown yourself to learn at an amazing speed, so do not expect me to go easy on you. Application as well as techniques go hand in hand. Yet, techniques that cannot be applied are like refuse."

Pulling her lightsaber over her head, arms forming an "o" shape, she motioned him to do the same with his hands. "The second guard technique seems to leave you open, yet it places you in a counter-attack position, allowing you to be able to force your opponent into a defensive position instead of a position of attack."

Dilios mimicked his master, his arms forming an "O" shape as well, with his blade brought behind him.

She watched his form, giving him pointers on the angle at which he held his blade and his grip upon the lightsaber before issuing her next set of instructions.

"Now, look through the Force, you must practice your meditations in your spare time so you can reach for it's currents within a moment's notice. The Force can guide you and tell you where your opponent's attack will come from. Do so now. I will allow you a little extra time to prepare yourself for the attack this once. Once you are one with the Force, be prepared to counter my attack."

Keeping her gaze fixed on his face, waiting for that moment when he was one with the Force, she brought the blade in a half-speed downward slash, right to left.

Dilios closed his eyes and concentrated, becoming one with Force. Dilios blocked his master's slashes by swinging his blade down and went into an offensive position.

"Good," she told him over the hum of his blade, yet she wanted to test him further. "Seek a weakness in my attacks and use it against me."

Khaluq deliberately made mistakes, leaving areas unguarded, testing his ability to sense them through the Force.

OOC: Step out and really attack this time. Do your best to try to put her in a difficult situation.

Dilios saw how Khaluq made many mistakes in her techniques, many. She must have ben deliberately making them to give him a chance. His blade hummed as he made a fast slash at an unguarded area on his master's left side.

OOC: Dear, please, be more detailed with your post. Describe the thoughts going through your mind. Describe how hard your swing is. Describe the hum of the blades, etc. Use your senses to picture in your mind what it might be like and try to write it out with your words. It'll help me respond to you better. Please, put a little more effort in the training. I know you want it to be finished, but I'm trying to prepare you for when you go against other members on the board in duels and fights.

OOC: Better, but you need to describe the driving force behind your attack next time. Others when dueling you will take the opportunity to deflect the attacks unless they're well focused. This is what your training if for.

His speed was suprising, yet his movements were predictable. Khaluq wanted to push him further, really test his abilities. She swung her blade in a sweeping underhanded arc, blocking his attack just inches away from her side as she continued to follow through, pushing his blade upward and stepping closer to him.

"Keep your footing and use the Force to sense when to move. You're movements are broadcasting to me before you even begin to swing. Try to throw your opponent off by faking and then showing your true attack."

She was driving his lightsaber closer to him. He backed up, then pulled his blade a bit backwards from angle on right, then swung but stopped. Quickly, he put the blade downwards on his left side and did an underhand arc, but stopped midway again. Quickly he pulled his blade behind his back, his arms forming an "O" and he drove the blade over him towards Khaluq.

His two faked shots only opened him for a sweeping attack below, as she could sense his intentions through the Force. She would not hold back now as she tested him fully on his techniques. She bent down, twisting her body like a dancer as she swung at his legs with her right arm, moving her body out of harm's way as his blade came down from overhead. He needed to dodge the attack and pull himself away from her before she could venture an attack at his backside.
