The large droid finally fell, wreathed in flames. Finally. That was a tough droid, tough as it is dangerous. Newton wonders if there will be more different kinds of droids in here. If/After this is all said and done, Newton will probably report this location to Blackwell, assuming he will be able to figure out where they are. There may be other technological riches here that would be worth finding and exploiting. Even with the droid they just encountered is giving Newton ideas for what to make in the future. It will be difficult trying to sell a near 3 meter tall war droid legally, but still.

Anyways, Newton would load his lash fresh powerpack into his blaster while the lift he is in is making it's decent, ignoring any talk about the one woman needing to pee. Newton thinks he heard that they are almost to their destination? Newton can only hope...

Finally the lift began it's decent, she ignored the woman's threat it wasn't worth responding as her father would say a zygerrian doesn't concern it's self with the opinions of prey, she wasn't prey not yet at least but the sentiment rang true.

garbing a fresh power pack from her waist she reload her pistol, twirling it in her hand after. they had some time time to check themselves and there equipment, it was quiet until the pee Mando broke the silence, questioning the droid about bathroom habits, she rolled her eyes, her fellow Mando was right she best her solve the problem before someone or something solved it for her.

She gritted her jaw as the droid ignored her question, tightening the grip on her blaster. This elevator felt like a death trap already, she could almost feel the walls closing in. Force user or not, she wasn't gonna leave the chances of her survival on those already in here. One of them in here didn't even seem to have proper armor on. She began examining the lift, the control panel, sliding as far as she could against one wall to avoid the direct line of fire, and putting back the concussion grenade.

If she had to, she could always find a way out and leave the rest of them behind. And she still couldn't trust IG-0R, even though he had seemed to be programmed to look over them, he was missing a limb and was increasingly silent. She gripped her blaster, eyes narrowed through the visor at the Dark Side user for a moment, before looking at the doors.

Gotta bad feeling about this.

IG-0R looked around at the organics crowded around it on the lift, keying the buttons to start the ancient transport on its journey, even as the sounds of pursuit filtered in from outside. As it began to move, the droid's photoreceptors flicked to Casany, and had the droid been capable, it would have issued a snort of derision.

"Meat-sack. I do not speculate on biological processes of such an unpleasant nature."

IG-0R briefly returned to his thoughts, then, ignoring the organics. All things considered, the group was possessing faster than anticipated. At this rate, the new program could be uploaded to the main computer within a few minutes. The Leader would be proud.

Leader? The droid thought. What Leader?

The thought passed, though, as something new entered IG-0R's awareness. A straining sound, old metal brought to its...

"Meat-sacks!" IG-0R called, reaching out with lightning speed to grad a hand rail. "Brace yourselves!"

There was a time of relative calm there as the gathered people descended in the old decently maintained turbolift. The sounds of ancient war droids pounding and pulling at a door that prevented them from rendering their targets a blackened smear on the facility floor was first muffled by the lift doors, and then faded into the distance as it began its descent.

Amidst the sounds of conversation and commentary, elevator music akin to the anthem of Xim’s empire played over the speakers to join the creaking and occasional squeak of metal from the lift itself and the swift clatter-lock of reloading weapons. Several seconds passed this way with no danger to be seen.

Without warning the lights above the lift-rider’s heads flickered a few times. Control console lights flickered along with it, followed by a burst of sparks and smoke from behind the thin metal cover that came partly dislodged. The turbolift shuddered, slowed, and then stopped as red emergency lights came on along the edges of the roof.

“Alert: Fire detected,” a cold, mechanical voice intoned through the speaker, a sprinkler sending a burst of water older than any living being in the lift raining down on those within.

Then there was a loud click and a sharp lurch as the lift suddenly dropped at speed down the lift shaft, metal screeching along the sides as emergency brakes partly engaged, the only thing keeping the metal box from dropping any faster. A second bout of sparks from the console added more foul smelling electrical smoke to the mix.

The lift now descended at somewhere just beyond normal speed, a digital floor counter the only way to keep track of which floor. Without some form of control it would almost certainly crash into the lift shaft floor and carry all its passengers along with it.

It was the quiet whisper of the Force that warned Vizim of the coming drop. His hand flashed out to grip the railing around the side of the turbolift as the lift began to plummet. Water poured down as well, drenching the brooding Sith in ancient water.

Water covered the electrical box and all means of controlling the elevator were suddenly lost. At first, Vizim thought this was some sabotage by their enemy, but then he realized it was probably just that the lift was old and therefore crappy.

Stupid ancient facility, he grumbled quietly under his breath as his eyes darted around paths out. He looked upward, hoping to find a hatch to climb onto the roof of the lift or if not, he may cut one with his lightsaber. There was likely to be some sort of emergency break atop the lift, right? Maybe the droid knew.

IG, is there an emergency break built into these lifts up top? Or a way to jam the gears? he asked. Ancient meant mechanical gears, right? Potentially.

Igor had a good point. Why would he worry about what one Mandalorian was worrying about? Being a droid had its upsides. The sprinkler system had its downsides. It could not have picked a worse time to go off and shower upon the one person in the elevator who did not need to think about water right now.

As the lift screamed down the shaft, Cas held on tight, heeding Mask’s question about an emergency brake. It was probably on everyone’s mind right about now. Her mind was just as much on him. “Can’t you just...I dunno...Force Pull this thing to a stop or whatever you ninja do!?” She turned her head to Gett’se without waiting. “Your jetpack work!?” She didn’t have time to ascertain. Nor did she have time to wait.

“Topside and go!” She wasn’t sure if there was an opening on the roof but they could always create one. Sending the one Mandalorian who had not been abducted outside one’s beskar’gam and thus had a jetpack intact made sense.

Her knees buckled slightly at the sudden lurch of red lights. The emergency protocol and swift descent brought panic spiking in the back of her throat. Kark, she wasn't gonna die soaked and smashed. Not unless it included alcohol, but she couldn't think pleasant thoughts right now. At the sparking smoke she hissed in a breath, holstering her blaster long enough to assess the damage. Not good.

The whining screech meant at least some of the emergency brakes worked. She'd have to bypass the original controls behind the panel, but be careful not to shock herself on the wires or get burned by the tools she carried with her. Hiking up her cloak so it shielded most of the water off from the panel, she jerked her head at the suited one (@The Good Doctor), her vocabulator a low growl.

"Help me out. You seem smart with tech." The Force user had a point. She had to hope to bypass the original controls and get the other brakes to stall long enough, or, barring that, buy them enough time to escape the death hatch and avoid being smashed to smithereens at the bottom of the shaft. She pulled out from her belt spare wires and a hydrospanner, and began leaning in, mindful to keep the water away as well as to keep her hands from shaking. She had worked on ships and other similar tech before, it shouldn't be too hard, even with its' age.

She would attempt to bypass the shorted electrical system behind the panel to at least fully engage the emergency brakes long enough to escape; it wouldn't be a one-and-done fix, but it would be enough to stall for time to get out of the death trap lift. If that failed, there could always be escape through the roof hatch, but at their descent, it would practically be suicide either way. She had to be careful.

Elevator music hummed through the turbolift as it descended, an ancient sounding imperialistic tune. Gett'se breathed steadily, calming his nerves as he prepared for more action as soon as the elevator came to a stop.

Wishful thinking.

A groaned strain of metal, a warning from Eye-gee and an alert over the elevator speaker was all the warning that the group had. Gett'se grabbed for the rail as his stomach dropped and the elevator began to descend at a faster pace, grinding against the walls of the elevator shaft, ancient stinky water raining down on the occupants.

Closing his eyes for a moment, Gett'se could hear the chatter of the others in the turbolift but he ignored them. Plummeting to death, scraping turbolifts and deadly war droids possibly awaited in the elevator shaft, he took just a moment of peace. One more moment.

Opening his eyes, Gett'se looked up and located the service hatch topside. Foot on the railing, he boosted himself up and grabbed a functional rung higher up on the turbolift wall. Reaching up, he popped the hatch and the turbolift was filled with the cacaphony of screeching metal. Assuming no war robots were in sight from the view of the hatch, Gett'se would haul himself up and clear the top of the lift with his blaster pistol at the ready before pulling himself shakily up top of the lift.

Leg over and coming up into a crouch, he gripped the lip of the hatch tightly with one hand, blaster pistol at the ready with the other as he spied the emergency braking lever near the service hatch. No war droids present yet, he would holster his blaster and reach for it from his position, missing once before grasping the lever with one hand.

The turbolift hit a snag and jostled Gett'se, one arm grasping the brake lever and the other the lip of the hatch. He held on for dear life as the lift tried its best to dislodge him. The moment over, he let go of the hatch and grasped the brake with both hands, pulling hard while trying to hook a foot through the hatch, the last thing he wanted was to come free from the roof of the free falling lift.

Ancient metal protested as he pulled on the brake lever, and it took all his strength to drag the lever towards him with a heavy clunk. Now there was little to do except hang on and pray to the gods.

Cyrene's eyes flicked to the roof of the turbolift as the whole thing shudder to a stop before announcement of a fire and the stale water began to spray, she was glad her hood was up. this new situation didn't last long as it seemed the emergency breaks weren't properly working.

like the female Mando, Cyrene came to the same idea she wasn't going to be stuck inside this box, it seemed the lifts issue was mechanical rather than tech based so they need to be on roof now if they wanted to stop this thing or escape it.

eyes searched for the hatch that should be there if that if Hutts didn't skimp out on the lift to save a few creds which was just as possible knowing them.

Of course, it would be too simple if this malevolent intelligence simply let them take the turbolift to it's chambers. One does not simply take a turbolift to take the final fight to an malevolent artificial intelligence, they should have known. The elevator was about to give in, there was a fire, and then suddenly started raining water from the sprinkers system from a long time ago. Newton would sigh. :: Just had this suit dry-cleaned :: he quipped internally.

No doubt the bacteria there is so old. Newton will probably be sick after today. But of course he is focused on the situation at hand. This can go from a 1/10 to a -100/10 really quickly.

The one woman (@Killa Ree) asked for help, and Newton was very much oblige however he can to get themselves out of this tight situation. The armory AI sure is pulling out all the stops this time. Newton was very much an engineer, granted it's with droids but they are still mechanical, and he's worked with lots of droids, new and old. They may not be ancient, but still he can handle turbolift controls.

Newton would position himself in a way that would prevent more of the water coming in, and he would then be assisting her on the controls with his knowhow alongside hers. At least she has some tools on her.

If this works, they would hopefully delay the danger enough to get off the doomed turbolift, if not, the roofhatch would be the best bet and even that's super-risky.

Speed was usually a good thing when it was directed toward the objective but a lack of control of said speed was troubling. The unit stared at some of the reactions from the Organics for a moment, its processors awhirl as it continued to take in new information. There was nothing good that could come from its destruction even if there was a vaguely comforting thought that it would be succeeded by others.

Its reprieve ended abruptly, however, as one of the organics, the Mandalorian, began to climb up atop the lift itself. Rather than attempt to clamber atop the lift itself, IG-0R planted its feet well before reaching up out through the hatch.

The cold metallic hand of IG-0R would grab tightly onto Gett'se's ankle to keep him firmly in place.

"Your death would not be optimal." IG-0R declared without inflection, "Continue with vital brake operations. Suited organic, assist the cloaked one at the terminal."

Its receptors focused on some of the others for a moment.

"If we cease to function - this unit wishes it to be known that it was caused by organic foolishness."

The screeching of metal-on-metal reverberated throughout the lift shaft; a wild, unrestrained whine cried out, deafening and violent. These lifts had not been used in a long, long time, and the lack of proper preventative maintenance very clearly showed as the group of unwilling adventurers plummeted to their doom. Sparks flew out as water soaked the exposed electronics, sending out further bursts of fire into those unlucky enough to be working on them at the time.

The lift continued to scream to the bottom, even as Gett’se valiantly moved to activate the emergency brake lever. With a groan, the analog brakes built into the system engaged, juddering the entire lift. Sprinkler systems shuddered briefly before a greater torrent of centuries-stagnant water spewed out at higher volume, soaking the inhabitants. The change in speed was noticeable, for almost immediately the lift began to slow.

Metal continued to groan, but the group would not be falling to be pasted on impact, now. Instead, for several long moments, the lift seemed to crawl along. Finally, the metallic wailing died down, leaving the elevator caught midway at an opening. Gett’se would see an easy means of crawling through the open gap onto the next floor, but the door in the turbolift remained firmly shut as the internal electronics continued to fry with the rising water.

Klaxons continued to softly ring out, the dimly-lit lift now relatively safe. Outside the lift, if Gett’se could see, was a darkened hallway with a sealed blast door several meters in. A console adjacent to it blinked and hummed softly, suggesting recent use. Around, two more hatches bordered the sides of the blast door.

Well kark, kark, kark and damn it all to hell. At least the suited guy proved to be of some use, but the kriffin' panel was shot. She snarled something under her breath as fire spat out, rapidly backing away, and deactivated the hydrospanner, replacing it in her belt and giving one frustrated kick at the wall panel, before looking up at the Mando.

"Good work."

High praise for a limited time, but time was ticking, and they would have to keep moving. "IG-0R, do not advise continued repair work; it's too fried. But noted." The last bit was directed at the droid's deadpan note of 'organic foolishness'. On some level, she had to agree.

This was kriffin' ridiculous. Damn the Hutts.

"Recommend evacuation now."

With that, she would follow Gett'se's example through the hatch, gripping onto a cable for security's sake, if the lift decided to suddenly fall out from under her. There was also the option of mag-boots, but she didn't want to secure onto a ferrous surface if the lift decided with its' fried controls to suddenly go up instead of down. She wasn't happy with the partially open lift either; getting someone caught in there would be suicide. But they were running out of options, and time. She would offer a hand to whoever would want to scramble out next, just in case.

Vizim watched as the Mandalorian pulled the brake and the lift came screeching to a halt. More water. What a terrible day this was in every way.

He followed the others up through the hatch to take a look around. But it was dark there as well.

He squinted against the darkness, taking the offered hand of the woman (@Killa Ree) who had climbed up ahead of him.

You got IR or NV in that thing? he asked the Mandalorian (@Arclight) motioning toward the helmet.

Cyrene climbed up to roof when lift finally stopped trying to avoid the rising water in the lift if that thing continued to fill soon it would go over lift weight capacity and Cyrene didn't want to be anywhere near when than happened.

she took in the situation and the surroundings, it seemed once again they had one way forward, looking through gap to try size up if she could crawl through the opening. she turned her head to face over her shoulder before holstering her blaster, she wasn't going to wait for them, safety in this place was an illusion they stay here to long something would go wrong, so best keep moving.

she would crawl through open gap onto the next floor, before standing up in the new room and drawing her blaster.

Cas had been caught in a quandary of whether to hold tight or let loose. It had prevented her from being useful in this situation. Still, her peers had promptly proven themselves, whether Mandalorian or not.

One such Mandalorian had yet proven rather capable as he pulled the lever and ground the elevator to a halt. It was a screeching descent that did not end with a pool of pulp in that turbolift so Cas could only be grateful.

At the extension of Blondie’s hand, Cas almost gripped it with glee. Then she remembered her predicament. No, she would let others go ahead, starting with Mask. Then whoever came next. Cas would be the last one in the elevator and that meant a lot. “Be…” Her voice fumbled beside her fingers. “Be right up!”

With that, she looked left, looked right, cleared the coast, lowered the pants and let loose. Moments later and she scrambled up the hatch behind the rest of them feeling much much better.

It was dark and dreary, quite like this whole facility always had been, though her rifle was as much as a rifle as it was a torch. Cas switched the flashlight component on just then regardless of of her vod’s reply to Mask.

The light illuminated the hatches and door, searching first and foremost for exit points, before lingering on the blinking console. “Corporate?” She gestured toward the man in the suit who might need to have it dry-cleaned. Apparently he was smart with tech.

The world was loud, and then it was quiet. The screeching stopped, the turbolift came to a halt, and Gett'se was still alive. It was only after everything was over that Gett'se realized the droid had grabbed hold of his ankle and spoken.

"Agreed." He stated simply. Whatever reason the droid had for concluding that his death would not be optimal, Gett'se had to agree that his dying would be suboptimal to his own goals as well.

"Yes." Gett'se replied to the masked man. Recalling what his vod had asked the man earlier in the lift, he regarded him with his eyes through the side of his visor. "I thought you wizards could see in the dark." He said coldly as he pressed a button on his wrist, switching his vision to infrared.

He would give the all clear assuming he couldn't see any immediate threats with his infrared before slipping through the gap and into the small corridor, blaster pistol at the ready as his boots hit the floor. He eyed the hatches that flanked the blast door warily. If any more of those buzz droids popped out he was more than ready to blast them as they came.

Well, they did something, and it worked. The lift was stabilized. Probably only for a time though, there is nothing much they can do with the panel given the circumstances. Well, time is running out and they have to get going. Time to abandon the lift. Newton would climb through to the roof, following behind the slaver cat-woman-thing, going through the gap.

Once that was clear, there would be the sealed blast door at the end of the hall. The one Mandalorian asked for 'Corporate?' upon when they. Of course refering to him. "I can try". Newton would then look towards the IG droid momentarily "Unless IG wants to get it". The IG droid knows the command to shutdown this armory intelligence, it's possible IG knows full and well how this ancient console works. Then again, IG did have a bad arm, and if more of those buzzdroids come through those hatches, IG would be a better defender.

Newton also did note that the console was humming and when he touched it was pretty warm. "Someone else used this console recently, I think" he stated.

Nonetheles If the IG droid opts not to work the console, Newton would then attempt to do so, there is the normal way and if need be, slicing.

The unit could probably have forced the doors to the lift open with brute strength had it both of its hands still remaining. With one of them missing, it lacked the suitable leverage to open the doors without incurring further damage to the chassis. Irritating that it could not take the more direct route to accomplishing their goal.

Their goal was so close, IG-0R could practically feel its code buzzing in anticipation. The droid turned to Allegra.

"Acknowledged."

Pity but acceptable.

Pulling itself atop the lift unit with the other organics, the spotlight naturally came on to illuminate the area. It was limited to what direction IG-0R was looking at but it was more light than the organics had between them it seemed.

"This unit is equipped with Infrared receptors and motion detectors." It confirmed for the shadowy Organic, "This unit may proceed ahead if this course of action is deemed acceptable."

If it was, IG-0R would waste no time in sliding itself through the gap. However, if one of the organics wanted to go first? It wasn't going to refuse a free meat shield.

Z1MM raged against the cruel Makers who had built it only to suffer through such frustration. The organics and their treacherous droid guide had escaped the Guardian Corps! Not for lack of trying - unit X3R would have to be put in for a promotion, showing admirable relentlessness in the face of the enemy - but even when the turbolift had failed and Z1MM had believed the interlopers to be about to meet their well-deserved doom, the lift's emergency brakes had kicked on, and the passengers were presumably still alive, stuck between floors just a few hundred meters from the control room where the computer's very central processing unit was housed.

If only Z1MM had access to some of those marvelous Commando droids the upstart Confederacy had built! In point of fact, the computer did, but they were still hibernating in deep storage, which Z1MM's data-prying had not yet been able to open.

Regardless, if Z1MM was correct in its calculations - and it almost always was - the computer estimated that the lift had come to a halt nearly on the threshold of its own. The intruders would only have to climb up a few rungs of ladder and then climb out within sprinting distance of the control room.

Abruptly, however, something else was beginning to attract Z1MM's attention. Several of the droids not sent to engage the intruders had failed to report back.

What was going on?

Perhaps the Mandalorian (@Arclight) had noted his tampering with the droid earlier. He'd hoped that no one had noted, but he supposed it was for the best he'd covered his face, then.

He didn't actually make a reply to the Mandalorian, but knowing that he and the droid both had vision modes was a positive. Even with his own sixth sense he didn't like his odds of guiding the entire group through the darkness.

With pistol still in hand, he fell in behind IG who he was more than happy to let lead the way.

Cas wasn’t sure how functional Igor would be with one arm down and the other holding a blaster. He was an assassin droid and needed to be at the ready in case of any more surprises. The guy could always guide Corporate through the console?

Either way, Cas centered herself on keeping lookout. Her rifle went from the doors and hatches to the walls and ceiling. By the time she turned back it was time to move on.

They had to be closer now than ever. That was good and bad. Good because it meant getting the hell out of here and bad because they would probably have to fend off a whole army of killer droids when the time came for Igor to upload his kill switch program thing. Isn’t that how it happens in movies and on HV..?
