Last night I reinstalled Fallout 4 because after a few chats with my friend we discussed how if this game wasn't billed as the next in line in the series after 3 and New Vegas and not as an in-depth RPG in the same vein that maybe it'd be more enjoyable. So I am trying that. I am going to play it more like an FPS with characterization not done by me, but by the game trying to give me a linear story like most FPS games. In that same mindset I used console commands to up my player's level and gave myself some decent guns and modded them.

The experience has actually been more enjoyable. A really shallow and uninspiring enjoyment, but it is killing time at night while I drink and listen to podcasts.

You're just weird.

I've been enjoying it greatly. Already got three characters with a 4th coming soon, all with different play styles. I am hoping that some patches fix some things though, like there being an option to break down all your junk into the components rather then have to drop them all, go into workshop mode, and break them down individually.

Hancock, Valentine and Curie have to be my favorite companions, I've enjoyed their dialogue and banter.

Main character I have is level 55, and I can't help but feel there is still a lot of things I've yet to do.

I have to say this has to be my RPG of the year, and I played The Witcher 3 as well. Though I think these two were the only big RPGs that came out this year.

Finished the game siding with the BoS. There doesn't feel like much for endgame. I enjoy the game, but I just feel like I got the most out of it for now. I'll probably go back to it in a week or two, but taking a break from it for now. I'll probably try a hardcore playthrough soon.

Right now, I reinstalled Fallout 1 and am playing through that again, cause... yeah. Nostalgia.

Haven't seen much activity here lately.

The Mechanist returns, and Robot customization arrives in The Automatron DLC, due on Tuesday.

Also Mod Support should be out within a few months or less, from what Bethesda has said.

Too late for me. Already bored with the game.

Even using console commands (which helped me enjoy the game a lot) the huge stop for me was the objectives where it was like "Build a thing" and I hadn't hoarded enough bits so I had to stop what I was doing to get the right amount of screws to advance the plot.

Which, is why things come out for it, some free and some not free. To extend the the life of a game and interest.

Which I am sure they get, but what we are saying is we were unimpressed from the start with the base title so more paid content isn't going to entice us back to the wasteland.

I am fully aware you don't like Fallout 4, but I was directing it at Swag, who was bored with the game. And to be perfectly honest, I too was getting bored after playing through with four different characters(Each a different play style) and getting to level 88 with my main guy. Bethesda's DLC will hopefully keep things fresh, and the mod community will no doubt do the same. People are still modding New Vegas and Skyrim, which I am sure you know, and some things they've done are phenomenal.

Luckily, if you own a PC, there are... alternative... ways of getting DLC. Which is my plan. I've enjoyed Elder Scrolls Online more than I've enjoyed Fallout 4.

Far Harbor finally has a release date (the 19th of this month) which has me super stoked. I am a major Fallout/TES fanboy and have invested hours upon hours into all of the games and Fallout 4 is no different. My main is Jack, a lvl 102 Jack of all trades that sided with the Institute. My second character is Walnut, a lvl 74 melee/unarmed specialist that sided with the BoS. My third character is Anna, a lvl 53 merchant queen that uses intimidation/energy weapons and sided with the Minutemen (I did it so that the BoS and Railroad are both still alive). My fourth character is Selina, a lvl 47 thief who's super stealthy and sided with the Railroad. Finally, I have my Survival difficulty character Noah who is only lvl 12 since I haven't gotten to play as much as I'd like since the release of the revamped Survival mode. I play on PS4 and I've earned all of the trophies at this point including the Automatron and Wasteland Workshop ones and I still feel like there's potential enjoyment to be taken from the game even without the rest of the DLC and mod support.

I still prefer New Vegas to 4, but I definitely like 4 better than 3. I have some gripes with it but I'm hoping Bethesda will be able to find a good midpoint between all three for the next release, be it Fallout or TES. All said though, since I picked up the game for $50 and the season pass back when it was $30 I feel like I've more than gotten my money's worth from the game/dlc and I'm really looking forward to the future add-ons. The level needed for max stats and all of the perks is 264 and I could easily see myself getting there with at least one character eventually. I mean, I still boot up my PS3 and play Skyrim once or twice a month so I don't see myself putting Fo4 down anytime soon.
